Anything interesting yet, like Nentendo changing the name of their console back, or the price of the PS3 being under an arm and a leg, or some other miracle?

PS3 core = 500$. PS3 full = 600$.

Nintendo seems to be owning this year's E3.

Microsoft hasn't shown up yet as far as I can tell.

I enjoy how the PS3 is ripping off the Wii's controller.

It's not really ripping anything off.

All the PS3 controller has is a tilt sensor. Pretty useless unless you're flying a jet.

I don't care unless they have a preview of Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney 2.

Phoenix Wright 2 should be out in JUNE, actually, if what I read on Nintendo's Press site is of any value.   Which, apparently it isn't, because Capcom pushed it back to Q1 2007.

Sony rips all their stuff off.   The only reason the Motion/Tilt functions came out now, is because Nintendo waited so long to reveal it.  Well, that, and Sony got their asses sued off for stealing the Rumble technology of the Dual Shock.   Nintendo licensed it.  Microsoft and Sony just took it.  Both were sued.  Microsoft settled out of court, and later bought out the company. Sony fought them in court, lost, appealed, lost, and then had to fork over something to the tune of 80 Million bucks and take a shitload of games out of stores.

The thing is, they can't use the rumble technology.  Something they SURPRISINGLY failed to mention was left out of the controller during the conference, like they failed to mention the "Core" system doesn't have 80% of the shit they claimed it did last year and in their press releases.

"It actually feels lighter than  the Ps2 Dual Shock".  No shit.  Regardless... they later claimed it was removed so they could put in their company standard 6-Degree tilt technology.   Uh huh.   Thanks for "introducing us" to such wonders, Sony.

Anywho... I'm happy because Bionic Commando from NES is coming to Gameboy Advance.  It's funny how an underpowered system like the Wii can end up achieving even more than it's competitor's system.

Bask away at the powet of flatuence.

Gotta reserve final judgment until the party's over, but up until this point Nintendo's had E3 in their back pocket, and my hat is off to them.

I'm a Sony man all the way as far as current consoles are concerned, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't all about that good ol' Tactical Espionage Action, but that controller is so completely fucking bogus. Hell, watching that putz spaz out with it during the Warhawk demonstration was downright embarrassing. I've got a Microsoft PC game controller sitting in a box somewhere that uses that exact tilt technology, and I bought that shit eight years ago. Disgusting.

Speaking of Microsoft, they still haven't convinced me I need a 360, and piņatas sure as hell ain't changing my mind.

Yeah.... Halo 3 isn't enough to bring me over to the 360 bandwagon. And I'd dry hump my Xbox if I could get it drunk enough to not remember it in the morning. I heard they had a lot of games in the wings, which solves one of my major problems. But that price tag is still pretty biting, although not as bad as the PS3..

Super Smash Brothers Brawl with Snake from MGS, pit, and slinky sexy Samus... *drools*

And Nintendo is owning E3, when I remember from last year they were considered a joke. Kinda odd. But I agree with the XBox 360, nothing on it makes me want one. The 'massive amount of third party games' doesn't even interest me as much, since in my experience most third party games tend to be highly forgettable and cookie cuttered.

I wouldn't count Sony out right now, if it does blow the Sexbox away in powet and such, I could see people buying em. People spend that much on rims, right?

Hot naked babes at E3! WHOO!

Quote
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Missing: scantily-clad females hawking the latest in electronic toys for the boys.

The video game industry's annual trade show in Los Angeles opened its doors to its exhibitors on Wednesday with organizers ordering women staffing the booths to cover up or face a $5,000 fine.

Banned are nudity, partial nudity, bikini bottoms or any sexually explicit or provocative conduct, according to the handbook from The Entertainment Software Association, or ESA, which owns and operates the E3 Expo.

Pauline K, who declined to give her last name, wore a white shredded tank top with an exposed midriff, short mini skirt and knee-high leggings as she handed out fliers for a company that makes custom face plates for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 game machine.

She said another of the models received a warning from show organizers for showing too much skin. "Apparently her cleavage was a little too distracting," she said.

In January, the ESA outlined tough new penalties to enforce decency rules. Exhibitors get a verbal warning for a first violation and a second violation carries a $5,000 fine.

"Last year there were a lot of complaints about how the models were beyond, in many cases, what was decent," said ESA President Douglas Lowenstein on Monday.

Despite the new rules, there was no shortage of exposed skin, patent leather and knee-high boots. Many exhibitors dressed women like video game heroines and there was a group of women wearing sexy nurses' outfits.

"They're wearing slightly more clothes this year," said Gail Salamanica, an exhibitor at the show, "But not much."

Wait, where did all the Wii controller-haters suddenly go?

What about the name?!?!? It's so dumb! Clearly Nintendo is gonna go out of business with their Wiiners between their legs!

EDIT: Oh, it appears that most of them haven't shown any change of opinion yet. Well, this board will still be around for me to gloat when the Wii launches.

Friend codes make the Queer Eye  guys look fucking straight .  It's a step backwards...  And despite all of the bad people on Live, I've met a lot of good people out there, a lot of them.  The cool thing about Live is that you meet people who come from all walks of life and I've met people who I wouldn't have normally met on a message board.

It's extremely stupid to say, "well, you can overcome this by arranging to play with people via AIM or a message board".  That's like a gimp beating around the bush, not admitting he has a handicap.  The other thing that Nintendo is missing out on, by NOT having a structured Online Service is grassroots sales.  Through Live, I've bought quite a few games I wouldn't have normally bought because I was able to see that my friends were playing.

Does this mean I won't buy a Wii?  No, it doesn't.  I buy every system, but Nintendo has done nothing but disappoint me since the N64.  They are what we'd get if Peter Molyneux had his own company.  They don't know when to keep their fucking mouths closed and their fans won't admit to their seemingly open flaws, and all they can do is ride on their initial success...

That's the problem - it IS that bad. It's just too clumsy a system.

If they revamped the workings of it and worked out so many of the problems it has (I've never been able to connect to friends, for example. EVER), it could work.

But if they're using it as is ...

The real problem is that Nintendo has never done online gaming before--and they're too ignorant to look at the competition's alternatives for a solution.  Even the DREAMCAST had servers you could join and allowed you to have specific handles for games.  Hell, Phantasy Star Online allowed you to friend strangers you met on their servers!

If the friend code system truly is the same as it is on the DS, people will be pissed.  It's a pain in the ass to have to write down a long numerical code and distribute it among friends.  It's an even BIGGER pain in the ass to have to copy ALL of your friend's codes into individual games.

Why is it so hard to allow the gamer to create one user name and just allow the option to add someone as a friend easily?   Being a step behind the Dreamcast when it comes to online gaming is something to be concerned with in my honest opinion...

In an interview yesterday, Microsoft VP Peter Moore had this to say regarding the PS3's $500-$600 price tag: "Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3. People are going to buy two (machines.) They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii... for the price of one PS3."

Can Nintendo and Microsoft fanboys join in the fight against Sony's high console market share? And it would be interesting to see if Nintendo shares the same co-op sentiment. But as for Microsoft, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."

I'll be buying a PS3 eventually whenever Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out, I hope.

So when does the Wii come out? In GameTrailer's tour of Nintendo's booth, the spokesperson said that Twilight Princess will be a launch title for Wii: "When this game comes out, the Wii will be out" or something to that effect. According to Gamespot, Twilight Princess is coming out in Q4 2006? We're getting the Wii this year?
