Moving to Arizona?

In the interests of full disclosure, I live at home with my mother.   It's been tough on her since Dad died, and she can't keep up the homeplace by herself.  So I do the outdoors work and pay the monthly bills, and I stay there rent-free and eat Mom's cooking.  I work full-time and have a full slate of things to do for myself, so it doesn't interfere or hamper my lifestyle in any way.  And I don't interfere or hamper that of my mother. In all the time I spent in college, my roommates have always been cankersores to deal with...but I get along fine with my mom.

Why do I need a place of my own?  I pretty much have one as is.  It's not as if I ever came up with any overriding reasons to find another place to live...it's not like I drink/dope or am sexually promiscuous or anything I wouldn't want her to find out.  Besides, if anything happened to her (God forbid), the place would wind up belonging to me, anyway.

Speaking personally, living alone sucks.  I'll find someone to live the rest of my life and start a family with all in due time.  In the meantime, this works fine.

Curse Florida for making 9 credit hours of it manditory. x.x
Good thing they didn't make spelling.
Oh, because I spelled manditory instead of mandatory.

Hahahahah.

Route 66 is easy to drive though. You start at Chicago, go through St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Armarillo, Alberqerque, Hollbrook (I've been there once, the highway passes right through downtown), past the meteor crater, and into Flagstaff, where I'd head south. The rest of it's through Californa and is probably boring.

Should have been Route 69.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Living alone sure does suck. I pretty much moved out 'cause it wasn't convenient to have sex at my parents' place (I shared a room). I'm just a social person though and get bored when there's no one around. Fiance moves in in 2 months so it's no big deal.

I don't want to end up like that guy on Dr. G Medical Examiner who died and only days later does a neighbor find his bloated, green, already decomposing body because he lived alone.

I lived alone after my girlfriend & I broke up and after my divorce.  I enjoyed the independence.  If I hadn't met Eddie, I certainly wouldn't be living with someone for the sake of having company.  And there's no feeling like getting everything situated in your first apartment and getting that "This is MY place" feeling.  Sam can relate. :)  And I still remember getting a watermelon, cutting it after it was cold and eating the best part out of the middle at the sink - no damn newspaper on the table under the plate and carefully-cut slice.

D, Because I'm feeling metaphoric now, I'll use our foster puppies as an example.  They're alive and healthy because one of them had the curiosity/guts to climb out of the trash pile when he heard Eddie dropping off the donations (Purple Heart truck site) and I saw him.  The other two were cringing safely in an old blanket.  I don't know where they'd be if he hadn't, but Ibe assured they're in pretty sweet circumstances now at our house and will stay there until they're adopted.

I'm sure your uncle doesn't want to make a mistake anymore than you do.  What about a two-week trial visit?  Live under his roof as a family member, have a serious talk with him about respecting one another's beliefs and opinions and see where it goes from there.  You should be able to determine whether he seriously wants to be a bridge to your independence, as I did when loaned my nephew money to get his car & set up his business, or whether he sees you as a conversion project.

And believe me, you can live in a red state and find plenty of kindred non-conservative spirits.  :P

Tortures end me,
Death befriends me.
Of all the pains, the greatest pain
is to love, and love in vain.

Looks pretty even to me.

Somebody artistic needs to swipe that, add a few personal touches, entitle it "Face of an Embarassed Nation" and mass-produce posters & lithos.

I think the whole red/blue thing is stupid myself.  Let's all get together and be a big old purple Tinky-Winky party!  :D

I got mad because he refused to own up to anything.  He has to always make the situation about other people.  This is not about anyone else but him.  I also refuse to explain myself to the like of him.  Doug quit your crying and just move to Arizona all ready.  A fresh start may do you wonders.

He sees me as a conversion project, but not in a religious way. I'll explain in a new thread.

Phoenix is set up like a giant grid.  It's the easiest city in the country to drive around.
Most of the city is a giant grid, with the exception of some black sheep neighborhoods, usually where all the illegals and undesirables live.

Detroit's also was planned when it was first founded to be a giant grid. For the most part it still is. Some of the neighborhoods are nothing more than square-mile main road squares with a smaller grid of residental streets. The east-west streets are named by mile, like 6 mile, 7 mile, 8 mile, 9 mile, 10 mile...
