I was trying to figure out where I'd heard of this old cracker until I read the article...he's the pastor of Westboro "Baptist Church", which is essentially an anti-gay cult rather than a real church. They're like RL message board geeks, in a way, who just happen to justify their irrationality on spurious Bible interpretation.
He also hates Jews, according to the Wikipedia article. I didn't know that, but I'm not surprised. They are apparently also tied into a belief that black people are to be subject to whites, who are God's special people in the place of the Jews.
In any case, I'd like to see him and his ilk picket a funeral for one of my loved ones. I could use something to vent upon at that point.
