Chell the sidebar that is the cover of this week's Newsweek.

She's a preggo. A preggo with AIDS who has had it for over fifteen years after she contracted it by being loose and then choosing abstinence when it was too effin late. So why is her ass pregnant NOW? Okay an accident maybe (the magazine didn't say whether she and her husband had planned), so WHY is this gracing Newsweek? If you crack open the magazine and find her inside of it, she has one page among the six or so pages of the other relatively affluent, non-third world people with AIDS that are supposedly "changing the face of AIDS". Her page is practically a fucking beauty shot of her in a drab field as she stands there naked covering her bits and pieces trying to echo a plainer, AIDS-ridden knocked-up non-seashell imitation of Boticelli's Venus.

Theres a bitty paragraph that accompanies each of these few people, and hers says some bs about how she has to think of her daughter's future. It's like damn, the kid's over 99% likely to be born with AIDS. Is she expecting it to be cured by now? That this lady went and got pregs is sick. I thought nothing could disgust me more than another naked pregnant picture, but this takes it. If she truly had the mentality of a mother who would think of nothing but the health and well-being of her child, she never would've brought another human being into the world knowing she would suffer from AIDS or even if she doesn't have AIDS, knowing she would have to watch her mother die from AIDS related causes.

Ironically, I guess, on the facing page is a kid whose mother had AIDS and has now been living with it for about fifteen years. I wonder how he feels about it.

How can you know you have AIDS and get pregnant anyway? My God. I don't care if I am being judgemental. What a selfish beast.

That IS fucked up. what a fucking moron, who the hell would want to get pregnant when having AIDS? the kid is definitely going to be born with aids. thats an unfortunate fact.

The article said because the father was negative that the little girl had less of a one percent chance of not having AIDS. But that's one hell of a chance, and not justifiable to plan a pregnancy if they in fact did that.

It would be one thing if she didn't know. If say she got pregant and then when she was in doing some routine test she found out then....but she knew she had it. It does seem wrong.

It's not as easy for a man to get it from a woman as it is for a woman to get it from a man.... Still not safe, but it's not as easy. He clearly wasn't using protection though. So they weren't really trying to keep him from getting infected.

I don't know the answer to be honest, it didn't talk a whole lot about these people. The father was a negative so far. Let's say the father 100% doesn't have AIDS and has sex with the mother, resulting in baby. Whether or not the father finally gets AIDS from her at this time doesn't affect whether or not the baby that's been conceived has it now.

Ewwwww!!!! The library just got it's copy of the Newsweek today. My co-worker was horrified that that selfish preggo would risk having a baby due to her condition. I remarked that she needed collagen filler or some sort of anti-wrinkle cream, but given her situation bad skin is the least of her worries.

I don't see how this is any different from having sex with someone, knowingly giving them HIV/AIDs, since the same percentage chances of getting the disease exist there. I say, the woman SHOULD be put away for this because in my mind it falls under those same circumstances.
