Title: Yee-haw! Stoopid Neighbors!
Post by: B E C K on Sep 13, 2009, 06:46:56 PM
Add yours too if you wish.

Today:

The windows were open and Merla and I were enjoying the breeze.  She was reading and I was watching the commentary for Alien.  All the sudden, we hear this RAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! noise of a machine.  I look outside all WTF and it's some tubby dude I've never seen before with fucking leaf blower across the street.  Your first thoughts are probably "Get over it, Nuri, it's Sunday and folks need ta do their lawn."  BUT there are no leaves and no grass!  We are bone dry here.  Nobody on my street has fully mature trees, every tree here was planted five years ago.  These people do not have any tall grasses or weeds and their front lawn is 70% dirt.  So I was all "WTF does this fat boner need a leaf blower for?"  Turns out he was blowing dirt off of the concrete.  And it's going every where, even to the driveway where he proceeds to go blow more dirt from.  What a dumbass.  Get a fucking broom, moron.

Later...

Merla goes to another room only to hear a lawn mower.  It's our next door neighbor mowing her lawn.  She does have some tall weeds, so she needs it.  She was partying the night before and all kinds of shit is in her lawn: pool, large bbq grill, several chairs, dog house, toys, beer cans, table, bottles, a giant yellow mop bucket.  So what does this genuis do?  Instead of moving all of this shit or cleaning it up like a person with a brain, she just mows around everything.

What's more, this woman bought wood for a fence a long time ago.  She eventually constructed her fence on two sides except ours, so we still have to see her trashy-ass yard.  Yeah, yeah, we should build our own fence if it bothers us so much, but she has the damn wood already AND she has the man-powet.  She's just dragging her feet.  How long can wood sit on the ground under a tarp before it starts going rotten?  It couldn't have been cheap or easy to transport and she just lets it sit there.

Also, she complained to my mom once about not having money to buy school stuff for her three kids.  But you have money to waste on wood, a boat in your driveway, a bbq grill, an giant above-ground pool, and shiny new rims.  Maybe instead of finishing that fence, she should make a table and slam her head into it.

The people in the building across from my window like to have late night parties.  The people aren't being extremely loud, like if I close the windows I won't hear them.  But I shouldn't have to close my windows.  The people out there talking don't live there they're just at some after party.  I haven't said anything yet because it hasn't caused me to lose sleep for work or caused me to be uncomfortable due to heat.  Something just bothers me about turning people lose to converse as loud or soft as they please on a balcony at 4am.

Now me being me I don't have the ability to talk about this rationally with them.  I feel like they should be destroyed.  If it comes to I'm going to yell out my window to keep it down.  If they don't I'm left with 2 options.  1) Grab my giant wrench off the nail that it's hanging on the wall and kill everyone bearjew style or 2) call the police.

But I have to find out their address first.

This is why I want a good 10 acres between me and my nearest neighbor.  Even out where I live the neighbors annoy me. Like a few days ago they were shooting clay pidegons in the vacant field across the road.

I have a neighbor who has, every Saturday for the past 3 years, run his boat engine from 10am to 12pm for whatever fucking reason...  Sure 10 am isn't too terribly early, but given that I go out most Friday nights, it can be rough.  You'd think with all the money he's blown on gas for the thing, he could have paid someone to fix it or actually gone out in the water (I actually live near the water, namely the Chesapeake Bay) instead of having imaginary Saturday boat adventures.

imaginary Saturday boat adventures.

Does he at least dress up for them?

I just hope my neighbors are holding that boat for someone else.  Never mind that they can't afford it, there's no decent lakes down here so it barely gets used.  Unless you count stray dogs using it for shade.  And then when they do use it, they actually throw out their leavings onto the grass.  Fucking fish heads just lying there on the lawn like they belong there.

Well, me and Kary often sit outside under the moonlight by the fire roasting meats and making s'mores while playing some tunes. Also, when we watch Football, we're loud.

But then the Grey's have a whore daughter (she most likely collects money, no lie), the Furey's are lookie loos, and Mr. Domey plays horseshoes. Yeah, my family are the asses.

You just described my "neighborhood". I don't have neighbor problems since I live on eighty acres and my nearest neighbors live a quarter-mile down the road, all out of sight of the house.

My neighbor started keeping chickens in his backyard a few weeks ago, they didn't look quite like your usual chickens.
I'm pretty sure it's against the homeowners association to keep live foul on your property.
Anywho I started to notice some of their numbers were decreasing, and my mom tells me that they are for cock fighting.
Now I feel like I should go rescue the poor things, or maybe call the humane society?
Title: Re: Yee-haw! Stoopid Neighbors!
Post by: Rodent of Unusual Size on Sep 15, 2009, 11:15:07 AM
Or maybe you could leave them alone, as they're not doing anything to you?  That's always an option.

You'd probably freak out if they were raising them to eat.  "Oh, no, they're wringing their necks! Call PETA!"

Just for that I am going to begin breeding squirrels for death match squirradiator purposes.

Personally I'd be a bit concerned if a neighbor was engaging in a activity considered illegal in 50 states and D.C. that tends to attract a criminal element but hey, that's just me.

If they're roosters for cock fighting, do you hear the crowing?  I remember a story about a guy who was keeping I-don't-remember how many roosters and it drove his neighbors batshit.

The numbers are probably decreasing for the purposes of dinner.
Title: Re: Yee-haw! Stoopid Neighbors!
Post by: Rodent of Unusual Size on Sep 15, 2009, 06:54:13 PM
If you've seen it or have reasonable suspicion of illegality, by all means. But that's not what you're saying.  You don't think they look like usual chickens...do you deal with chickens enough to know?  Okay, homeowners association regulations are reportable, but why bother if it's not impacting your life?  And you would hold up your mother as a cock-fighting expert in court?

If there's something nefarious going on, or you have reason to suspect it...by all means, report it. But calling the cops on somebody who may very well not be doing anything wrong or calling someone out on a technicality would certainly piss me off if it were me.

My opinion also has to do with the fact that I hate chickens unless they're being served hot and crispy on a plate for Sunday dinner, so I don't care if they die in Mortal Kombat.

I wouldn't be so sure most places actually use real eggs and real butter.  A lot of biscuit/pancake type-stuff is powder and water, especially fast-food.  LJS hushpuppies were nothing but powder and water (heh, and oil).

Quote
Filmmakers in France, in Europe, in the United States and around the world are dismayed by this decision. It seems inadmissible to them that an international cultural event, paying homage to one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers, is used by the police to apprehend him.

STFU.

Quote
The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance, undermines this tradition: it opens the way for actions of which no-one can know the effects.

Here's one effect: people pay for their crimes.  Neutral or not, they have an extradition treaty with us.  It's like they think they should be able to get away with murder if they makes teh films.

It's being circulated by Harvey Weinstein (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-polanski1-2009oct01,0,1755914.story) who offers up this fine nugget:  "Whatever you think about the so-called crime, Polanski has served his time. A deal was made with the judge, and the deal is not being honored. . . . This is the government of the United States not giving its word and recanting on a deal, and it is the government acting irresponsibly and criminally."

Heh, "so-called crime".  So statutory rape isn't a bad thing?  Dumbasses.  Even IDE waits until they're legal!  Then again, maybe that's his reason for going into acting....

And sitting in the klink for 42 days is not having "served his time", no matter what bullshit deal he supposedly got.  Nowadays it gets at least a year, and I don't imagine they were much more forgiving thirty years ago.  And it's way better than if it were my kid, as the bastard would have been long dead by now.

Semi-related, due to the mention of Adrien Brody.  Let's just hope there's no children Predators in this thing.  Ho ho, get it?  Huh?  HUH?

Copied and pasted because no one wants to go to fucking reuters:
Quote from: Reuters
By Borys Kit and Jay A. Fernandez
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Adrien Brody will star in "Robert Rodriguez's Predators," a reboot of the sci-fi franchise.

Topher Grace is in negotiations to join the action-adventure movie, to which Alice Braga ("I Am Legend"), Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("The 4400"), Walt Goggins ("The Shield"), Rodriguez mainstay Danny Trejo and UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov have also been cast.

Nimrod Antal, who directed the Hungarian film "Kontroll," is at the helm of the 20th Century Fox movie. Rodriguez is producing with Elizabeth Avellan.

Written by Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, the script follows a group of elite warrior types who are being hunted by members of a race of merciless alien trackers called Predators.

Brody plays a man who ends up inheriting the role of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.

Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose cannon of the group, and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent.

Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.

Shooting begins next month in Hawaii, then moves to moves to Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios in Austin. The movie is slated for a July 9, 2010, release.

Brody was last seen in Dario Argento's "Giallo" and next voices the character of Rickity in Wes Anderson's "The Fantastic Mr. Fox." Grace will next be seen in the ensemble romantic comedy "Valentine's Day."

I don't think he's ugly, but he strikes me as a poor man's Johnny Depp.  Can we bring back good ol' fashion muscly action stars?  The Arnolds, the Stallones... hell, the Willises, Seagals, and even fricken Van Dammes.  Adrien Brody and Topher Grace?  At least the other announced cast look more promising, but Brody being the star of this thing is kinda bummer.  He's just not an exciting leading man to me.

Bringing žings back to bad neighbors, I was woken up last night at 2 AM by one of my neighbors trying to break into the electical meter box to turn šeir powet back on (which has been turned off for, I assume, non-payment).  Šat makes še žird neighbor in my building in as many years to have šeir powet turned off, as far as I know.  My landlord really knows how to pick tennants.

Cool story, bro.

My parents have had the powet turned off once. I think it was the month after my mom had to have some crazy expensive ass surgery or some shit. I was living there. It sucked ass.

My neighbors across the street is putting in a new concrete walkway. Why is this important? We just had ours done about a month ago. Monkey see, monkey do.

Concrete's pretty expensive, but it's also a winter neccessity. It's had to shovel river rock properly. What I really want is a nice area of the backyard concreted and a nice fireplace put in. Nature's nice, but I don't want to get my socks dirty.

But whatever, I'll probably end up closing the account on his ass soon. fuck this crap.

It was even worse when they attributed the 'Most Haunted' Bullshit to the 'Ghost Hunters'. Kary flipped, screaming 'THAT'S WHAT THOSE ENGLISH FAGS DO, TAPS TRIES TO DISPROVE IT'.

Butters as a Pimp is still the best one I've seen since Scott Tenorman.

Well those two just bought a "haunted hotel" so I think they're getting paid good.

I saw the Taps van last summer stationed outside a hotel 1 block away from my work, and it was there for 3-4 days. Later I found out they did the Betsey Ross episode that week. If only I knew then :-(

I got a surge of guests when I re-opened the board.  Those bots, spammers, or whatever sure are vigilant.

On the original topic, several of my neighbors are still an issue.  These people are just so... garbagey.  They don't clean up after themselves.  They blast music/bass like they're the only ones on the planet.  The dirty bbq smell is awful: just plumes of smoke dirtying the air.  They don't have indoor voices either.  At least some of them left for whatever reason so it has improved.  But before it was so awful I was getting suicidal.  And homicidal.  Because I'd love to gather half of these people into a silo and fire a missle at it.  If I had the coin, I'd've been out of here a year and a half ago.  I'm dreading the Superbowl.  God knows what kind of partying will be had.

The neighbor across the street has been blasting music a lot lately and it's driving me up the wall.  She spoke w/ Schmoo and she genuinely believes it is her "right" to do so.  Her "right."  That's the word she used.  Jesus Christ.  No, sweetie, the rest of us have the right to quiet enjoyment.  And then her husband's all "quit bothering us" in Spanish.  Because we're bothering them, with that pesky wanting-quiet-in-our-own-home thing.  People who live in bizarro land like this really freak my shit out.
