The Hanks Guide to Acceptance Speeches

Oscar winner Tom Hanks was recruited by Academy Awards bosses to narrate an eight-minute instruction video on how to give the best acceptance speech at Sunday night's ceremony. The film, which was distributed to nominees, is entitled An Insider's Guide: What Nominees Need To Know, and includes dos and don'ts for the bash. It also features some memorable Oscar moments, including Gwyneth Paltrow's uncontrollable weeping when she own the Best Actress Award for Shakespeare In Love in 1999. Hanks gently guides his contemporaries in the ways of "wit, creativity and flair," as well as all-important brevity - which includes not using up your allotted 60 seconds hugging and kissing everyone on the way to the stage. He says, "Instead of hugging everyone in a 10-row radius, you might have to settle for a few fast high-fives as you sprint down the aisle."

I was surprised Brokeback didn't win best picture with all the brou-ha-ha.

I don't know about "Walk the Line" but worst performance of the evening goes to Reese Witherspoon. I've never heard lines come out of someone's mouth that sounded so poorly delivered since highschool speech class.

Best film should have gone to something like Brokeback, Geisha, Narnia, Walk the Line, or something. That Best Original Song for the Hustle & Flo is BS, if it's a rap song I'm going to stab someone. I could have cared less which movie got best animated. The only good awards were to Clooney in Syriana and that guy in Capote, and the awards Brokeback and Geisha won.

I'm pretty sure it is about Paradise Now. It's a film that many people where deamanding it's nomination be revoked (which I didn't hear any of for Munich.). Do you even know what Paradise Now is about? It's about Palestinian Suicde Bombers on the west bank. A lot of people have charged that glofies the suicde bombers and blames Israel for the deaths that they cause. Paradise Now was nominated for best foreign-language film. But....No...It must be Munich, you're right. I mean you can't even explain why it's liberal, but surely it must be Munich. :rolleyes:
