During a game in Detroit against the Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers, Pistons star Ben Wallace (the guy on the cover of EA's NBA2004) shoved Pacers player Artest. There was 48 seconds left in the game.
Shoving between players is normal. It happens. Wallace and Artest went to sit on the sidelines to cool off. What happened next wasn't normal.
A Pistons fan or two chucked some cups at Artest and he flipped out, bolting up the stands and attacking THE WRONG FAN. Other Pacer players in their infinite stupidity joined him in attacking Pistons fans in the seats. Other fans threw things at the Packer players, some joined in the fight, and some grabbed steel chairs and attacked the Packer players with them.
Piston players including Wallace and a few Indiana players went into the stands to try to break it up, and ended up getting in the melee. Security guards jumed in to break it up and several got injured.
Once the police had broke it up and were escorting the players to the lockers, a fan yelled at Artest and he flipped out a SECOND time, and attacked this fan too!
The game ended then with 48 seconds on the clock. Several people left in ambulances. Several players were suspended.
And shockingly Artest ISN'T in jail. Where he should be. He attacked fans, TWICE, and lost his temper, TWICE, and should be locked away until he can control his anger at the world and white oppression or whatever.
