I need to get out there in time to audition for the part of Beorn.

They better not pull a bombadil on beorn. Leaving out some singing fairy is fine but if you leave out a werebear you have seriously fucked up.

They're gonna make three films, it seems, and they will be more than just the Hobbit.

Look for sum white council, and Legolas and Aragorn adventures.

Being unfamiliar with the source material as I am, is making three films in this instance a good thing or should we fear another case of Hollywood overstretching just to make a buck off of a trilogy of films?

Well I've never read the book, but my coworker told me that "The Hobbit" its a prequel to Lord of the Rings. Like its all about how Gollum found the ring and how he knew Bilbo, etc, etc. BORING. I want some Elf/ Aragorn action! Wait, whats the name of that other "human" guy, the one who looks like Richard Gere, whose father complained about him all the time but loved his other son (who died in the first movie?) God I cant believe I don't remember this. anyways, I want him too!

Actually, Lord of the Rings is a sequel to The Hobbit since The Hobbit was written first.

Eh, the book would make 2 great movies. I think adding one more on will stretch out the story a bit, but it probably would add some great scenes with the white council, and perhaps some Legolas and Aragorn adventures. I rewatched the trilogy the other day on TBS, and they seemed to know each other before Elrond's council. Plus both Orlando and Vigo said they wanna make this.

I just hope Beorn isn't replaced by Aragorn and Legolas.

And I fear no Gimli

Gimli is too young for this adventure.

I don't mind them doing the whole white council thing. I mean the source is material is there so it's not like they'd be making shit up. We'll see.

BTW...I heard it would be two movies, not three.

Regarding Gimli's absense...he's Gloin's son, so it's somewhat reasonable to assume that they'd resemble sufficiently to consider John Rhys-Davies for the role. Then again, Gloin didn't figure too greatly into the story (unless they alter that for the purposes of adaptation, which I hope they don't do), so I doubt they'd waste the star-powet/budget on what'd basically be an extended cameo.

Regarding Beorn...I don't know much about Harry Potter stuff as I don't read the books or watch the movies other than in passing. But for some reason I see the dude who played Hagrid in this role...basically as Hagrid.

Maybe they could slip Hagrid some crack. Then he could be Mirror-Universe Hagrid and be able to properly portray the dangerous aspect you desire.

I see the IDE-Beorn as a non-hairy playa whose special attack is akin to that of Bueno Excellente...except with hot elven chicks and not just anybody.

So it's a bit tough to reconcile that with what is essentially a children's story.
