So... this girl I know died
« on: Dec 12, 2007, 12:07:34 PM »
On Nov. 30th, these two girls I was in color guard with crashed into a median when they were trying to switch places while driving (at least, that's what I read).  The one girl suffered a broken vertebrae and they had to put a support rod in her back.

The other girl had tons of internal bleeding, brain swelling and other internal damages.  After multiple surgeries (one to remove part of her brain because it was swollen and pushing on her brain stem), it didn't look like she'd make any sort of recovery so her family decided to let her go.

She died yesterday at the age of 17.  I'm good friends with her older brother but he moved out of town and I haven't talked to him in months.

It's sad when shit like this happens, especially to someone like her who was so happy and loving and charismatic.  She was actually an incoming freshman when I was graduating, but I remembered her out of everyone.   :'(  I'm sadden, but I know there are more people who are even more sad because they were actually close to her.

Teh sad.

Ouch.

Hell of a way to go. I'd rather go fighting with the throats of my enemies in each hand.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Why were they...

well, I suppose we will never know.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

Switching places while driving huh...

That sucks.  I'm sorry for your loss.

One of my friends died trying to jump from one hotel balcony to another...but at least he was trying to get laid.

I have no idea why they were trying to switch places.  If it hadn't ended so badly, I'd call both of them idiots but now it's not appropiate.

Her wake is on Friday, I should probably make an appearance.

I just got home from the wake.  I saw a bunch of people I hadn't seen in forever, and most of them were crying.  It's weird because her family wasn't really crying, though I guess you would have to compose yourself in those sorts of situations.  It's the American way.

It's possible.  But it wasn't like she died suddenly.

Yeah.  And it could be disbelief at the fact they realized they were present at their daughter's funeral.

True dat.  I don't know how the grief process works, the closest thing I've come to that was when we put our dog to sleep last summer.

Appropriate or not, it really was their own fault.
10,000 steps down, round and round. One night on the town and I'm hellbound ... Black oceans beneath, come and swallow me. My little tower, seal my fate. Help me pay back, end their hate. Black oceans beneath, come and swallow me

I didn't really lose it over my dad for about 5 months.  My sister found the present he'd gotten me for Christmas in the den closet, and I was a basket case for the rest of the day.

I'm sorry about your friend.  At least she is no longer suffering.

We don't know if the girls were really trying to switch places while driving.  I wonder where that idea came from.  Did the other girl say that they were trying to switch places or did someone witness this?  It could very well be a wild rumor someone started.

The other day a young woman around 22 or so died in a car accident here in San Antonio.  It was fucked up because she was declared dead at the scene but then the medical examiner came by two hours later he found her alive!  But she died anyway at the hospital and the asshole fire chief didn't even apologize or anything.  He had a nasty attitude!  Now the department is under investigation.  He should have said he was sorry, empathy goes a long way.  I feel so horrible for the girl.  I can't imagine dying in the cold and no one coming to the rescue. I just hope she was unconscious and wasn't aware of what was going on.

The fire chief wasn't the one who declared her dead right? Still he needs to take responsibility and apologize.

The fire chief can't declare her dead, at least that's how it is in Wisconsin. Maybe Texas is different.

Texas is not different.  Here's the story:

"Crash Victim Wrongly Declared Dead Dies"

And here's what's causing a shit-storm... "Accident Victim Left for Dead: Fire Chief’s Comments Called Callous & Insensitive":

Quote
The little thing Fire Chief Charles Hood is worried about is the statement he made during a news conference Monday, addressing paramedics’ response in this deadly drunk driving crash that killed 23-year-old Erica Smith.

“There's nothing to apologize for,” Hood said during the news conference. “We weren't driving the vehicle that hit that car.”

He pretty much came off as a total prick.

Oh yeah I read that!

Like a month ago these group of 4 people (a guy, 23, his sister, 21 and her two friends, 22 and 19- seems like many of my friends knew them) crashed into another car. Nothing happened to the other car or its occupants but to this other car, the two siblings died right there and then, one of the girls is in like a coma and the other one is getting (or maybe already got) both of her legs amputated. That's sad :-(

No, that's what actually happened.  It was in the Facebook group and in a news article about it.
