Uh...why?
-
I think they might have a semi solid argument about this super realistic gritty take on batman not fitting into their justice league-verse. But does it mean they have to reboot? I don't know, couldn't they just have bale adjust or would that be too jarring for the audience?
-
Maybe three is enough for Bale, and the WB has learned its lesson about juggling different actors in a single continuity.
So rather than replace Bale, they can just start over with someone else.
Also, this allows them to bring back the Joker without seeming callous.
Of course the best outcome would be if this new reboot failed miserably and they let the franchise lay fallow for a decade.
-
Why even bother making the third one then?
-
Also, this allows them to bring back the Joker without seeming callous.
This is an argument I can at least get behind, although I think it'd be hard to top Ledger's with it so fresh in everyone's mind. They can also do Two-Face again by not killing him 20 mins after he is "born". That was the biggest waste of those movies.
-
Particularly in that Two-Face is second only to the Joker among Batman's rogue's. And my brother might argue you down over that one.
-
"looks at comic books constantly reinventing and retconning"
Why is this that surprising?
Particularly in that Two-Face is second only to the Joker among Batman's rogue's. And my brother might argue you down over that one.
Ha! I guess. Ra's A Ghoul, the Riddler, and Bane all higher.
But second in what exactly? If you rating who's the most unpredictable, I'd stick with Two-Face as second.
-
Bane was a one-off. How often does Bane show up to piss off Batman these days? Never. Technically, he's not even really a villain anymore.
Penguin rates higher than Bane as a Batman nemesis, and Penguin is shit.
"But Bane broke Batman's back!"
Yes, and Batman has been dealing with the consequences ever sin...
Oh wait, no he hasn't.
-
Whoops! How silly, I forgot about Darkseid! Darkseid actually managed to kill Batman, therefore he is Batman's greatest villain.
Far greater than Joker, at the very least.
He said, tongue firmly in cheek.
-
He didn't kill anyone, he sent him backwards in time .. oh wait, yeah, okay.
I guess I just really like Bane. In fact, I think Catman made it back to fight with Batman before Bane did (Secret Six is awesome, btw).
-
I loved Secret Six with all my heart.
And then Calafiore started drawing.
The End.
-

The End.
What issue was that? The art still looks good to me, but I'm behind.
-
Man, I can't even remember. They got someone else for a bit, and things were looking up again, but then he came back. And as far as I know, he's been drawing for the last year or more.
My hate for his art is probably a little irrational, but I can't stand his weird, jagged-looking people. I've disliked him ever since his run on Exiles, which was quite a while ago. It doesn't matter how much I like a book, as soon as Calafiore's pencils turn up, I am outta there.
Which is unfortunate, because Simone's writing is typically pretty damn good.
-
My biggest problem with these superhero movies is that they're going about it the wrong way. They're going to cannibalize their own business with all of these origin movie --> sequel --> sequel ---> reboot movies. The whole "setting up for the Avengers" or "Justice League" is a novel idea, but in the end, it's just another fucking origin movie that's going to be 60% set-up. They really should take a page from James Bond, since we already KNOW the fucking stories behind these characters and just do soft-reboots from time to time that just involve the hero and a conflict.
-
Ha! I guess. Ra's A Ghoul, the Riddler, and Bane all higher.
Bane was a one-trick pony...he served as Batman's Doomsday, and now that role is over. Riddler was never nothing more than an annoyance, at best a second-tier opponent. While Ra's is a quality enemy, one of the best, even, he's a different class of criminal to me. I have a hard time really seeing him as a member of Batman's rogue's gallery as much as a force to be reckoned with. To me, Ra's al-Ghul is essentially what Batman would have been like without the likes of Leslie Thompkins, Alfred Pennyworth, and Harvey Harris.
But second in what exactly? If you rating who's the most unpredictable, I'd stick with Two-Face as second.
As to second in what, I mean in general rank. As for most unpredictable, Two-Face is the single most predictable of Batman's adversaries. Everything is logically planned out and incorporate duality (or, in the more jejune stories of the past, the number two) of some kind. The trick is connecting the dots, and then foiling him.

But he has that coin thing.
Alright, let's step back. I'm not really that much a Batman fan to know all this. Why am I bothering?

Nuri's Creaming Fantasy:
They make Batman a feature character in the Superman sequel for a World's Finest Team Up. FUCK YEAH.
Forget the origin shit. Zero's right, that crap's nothing but foreplay. Let's start teaming people up now. Put Batman in the Superman sequel, then you can leave him out or give him a cameo in the third Superman as Bats/Bruce sets up crap for him and Superman the form the Justice League, which then becomes a Justice League movie. Also... MAKE A WONDER WOMAN MOVIE ALREADY, FUCKERS.
This is all.
-
They could solve all of this shit by just making animated movies. I mean half of these movies are special effects anyway. I think everyone will agree that superheroes look like shit in real life but CGI they look amazing. Imagine this in CG

But... Alex Ross draws from live models.
You just wish bodybuilders could act.
-
true dat.
-
They don't have to if wormy ACK-TORS wear motion capture suits and get Gollumed onto the screen.

Wait...what?
-
Or just cast me as hawkeye.

Will Smith is the next Batman. His son will play Robin and his daughter will be the Joker

The sad thing is, I could see this happening. And in a really weird turn of events, Jada will be Harley.
-
better yet ten years from now Jaden Smith is Terry McGuiness in Batman Beyond the movie.
-
I don't understand all this Will Smith jargon. Did he make an announcement about something recently, or are we just still riffing on Karate Kid and I Whip My Hair Back and Forth?
-
Faye likes bad movies and Will Smith.
-

Yep.

Will and his son are making a movie with M. Night.

AND HIS FUCKING DAUGHTER AS ANNIE.

They gotta have an Annie for the black folks now.

It worked for the Wizard of the Oz.

Yep.
Also, Faye's smarting from the Annie remake starring Willow. That, along with I Am Legend and Karate Kid, it show a disturbing propensity of whoring a property and casting a Smith in the lead role.
Semi-related but coming soon... Bad Boys 3 and Men In Black 3. Added together, they make Bad Men in Black 33.

Annie was a Peck?

YES.

And the effing Night Shamalyan's (sp?) movie that all of them will be in it except the daughter. argh. A POX ON THEE, WILL SMITH
-
What's that one called?
-
According to Faye's post, it is called "A Pox on Thee, Will Smith."
-
I'd watch that.
-
What's that one called?
Don't know. I only know that Will Smith and his son will be acting, and the wife will do something behind the scenes. It'll probably suck like every other Night Shmajsdkndj movie (except for Signs, obviously)
-
I have the feeling Will Smith sees Shyamalan as a sort of pet project, where his ego is telling him that he has the clout to redeem M. Night in the eyes of all his detractors.
-
I want to taste his delicious failure. Shyamalan, bring down the entire Smith family with your aura of suckness! I'm counting on j00!
-
Will Smith is the best. I'd support him in any traditionally white role so long as being white isn't somehow integral to the story (like the story of the Klan, Hitler ...)
Casting anyone related to Batman as Batman Beyond would be a fucking unnaceptable tragedy as it would give legitimacy to the bull fucking bull fucking shit shit that is the Justice League episode where that douche who I now can't diss too much because he died who had nothing to do with Batman Beyond just retconned that bull shit genetic link in there and marginalized everything that Batman Beyond stood for.

This summer...Will Smith is HITLER!

I would prefer this to getting Mickey Rourke as Genghis Khan. Weird-looking face != Azzzzin

I want to taste it too

The Justice League episode "Epilogue" is considered by many fans to be the true finale to Batman Beyond. In this episode Dwayne McDuffie, who didn't write any episodes of Batman Beyond, decided to retcon Terry's background and make him a half clone of Batman, essentially his son, which marginalises the entire concept. Then he died and people said good things about him while I bit my tongue.
Also they can put anyone in a Ghengis Khan movie and it won't suck like Mongol did.
-
The biggest sin of that episode is what they did to the Wall. She was basically portrayed as Ol' Mammy in that.

For truthery. Throughout Justice League, she became one of my favorite characters, almost certainly my favorite non-super-powered character. If there was someway to see an animated version of Suicide Squad vs Secret Six I would die happy.
-
Amanda Waller in that post-crisis Suicide Squad in the eighties was pure gold. This was the classic image of her that has always stuck in my mind:

She don't take nobody's shit!

She's the goddamn Wall!

Ohhhh, that's what you're still on about. Yeah, I hated that shit, too.
Also, I liked Mongol. Sowwy.
