Title: I apparently have media credentials.
Post by: Derrick on Mar 04, 2010, 03:52:31 PM
A week ago, some woman from an advertisement firm invited me to a Media luncheon at the Temple (a restaurant in a former Masonic Temple downtown), to which I realized people do read my restaurant review Blog. Me and Kary just came home from it, and it was AWESOME.  Free valet parking, free drinks (we had 6 different ones) and a tasting menu of free food made me want more. I thought I'd just brag, since it gets boring around here with people bitching about bad things. This was an awesome thing. Me and Kary each got a free cookbook (don't know what I'll do with it, but hey they were free!) and a media packet. Also, we sat with some interesting folks who were waaaayyyyyyyyy more knowledgable about food than I and Kary were, yet we were the last table to leave the dinning room.

Also, it's a restaurant in an old Masonic Temple. How fucking cool is that?

Maybe the answer for why you were last is right there. hah.

All they do is put Law Offices in old Masonic Temple. Although there was one in old Church. Had to ask if they served "Rack of Lamb of God."

What kind of food do they serve?
Mediterranean, basically Spanish, Italian, Greek, and Middle Eastern. Shit was tasty, and the free booze (alot of it, since we had to taste and give our opinions on their drinks) make the evening even better.

The place reviewed today was epic, because free food and wine! I bought beer since I felt guilty. Apparently it was only open to the Owner's friends and family, but the guy welcomed us in. All the other patrons were looking at us oddly, since everyone else were in their 40s and 50s. Still, delicious food after a day beach side.

Were you invited again or did you just happen upon it?
Title: Re: I apparently have media credentials.
Post by: Derrick on Mar 06, 2010, 08:51:41 PM
We happened upon it. The former place was named the Drunken Clam, like in Family Guy. After driving down that sparse beach-area road, that was the only restaurant around. It had a bunch of cars and we were hungry, so we stopped in. I was expecting to spend 30-40 for us considering, but then we were told by the owner, "Oh no, everything but beer and hard drinks are free". Steak, Shrimp, Oysters, Clams, etc., all for free and we walked into it. A happy accident, consdering I suggested we eat at some other place that wouldn't have been as good nor as free.

And whyyy did they change the name? that was the best marketing ever!

From what I've seen, it was named that before Family Guy. Chances are Seth McFarlane ripped it off.

Wife? WIFE? Did I miss the memo of you getting married?

And I apparently missed the memo of you moving from Florida to Rhode Island, although I'm sure you've mentioned it before and I just forgot.

Ha, I knew you were just being lazy.  If Rama can master the accent, so can you.

You missed a comma, and for that you cannot come. You'll have to buy the DVD or download it off of a torrent site.

Didn't you just add in a comma?  Shouldn't that cancel out Fiero's lack of comma?

Spanish "R" is much kinder than Gaelic "R", which is somewhere between a hiss and a purr.  If cats ever master human speech, they'll be speaking Gaelic.

My brother's outside cat lives in the garage and hollers 'BAAAARN!" whenever he's taken to the vet.  I interpret that as a clear cry to be put back.  And don't forget the YouTube felines who say "Oh, long johnson" and "Hello!" amongst other things.

My mom used to try to get our dog to say my brother's name. It was pretty obnoxious. I think Raz thought so to; because she would just stare or she would start stomping about as if she wanted to play.

My mother really wanted to keep her, though. She is an awesome dog, and very sweet. When my brother lived at home, and had the dog there, my mom was actually very upset that he moved out (well, about the dog, not about him). She was pretty happy when they asked to bring her back.

Little dogs are cute but I tend to like bigger ones.  Not huge dogs but bigger than what would qualify as medium.  Something you can throw a frisbee at and not manage to injure.

You are underestimating the powet of miniature dogs. I had a yorkshire terrier that was built like a tank and had the bite powet of a megalodon.

You could just get a smaller frisbee. My dogs aren't big, but could catch a frisbee. They won't cause they are too lazy. Won't even play fetch with a ball. Just look at me like "Why did you throw that over there, now you'll just have to go get it."
