Title: Bilbo Baggins?
Post by: B E C K on Aug 09, 2009, 04:25:46 PM
Daniel Radcliffe? David Tennant? Vote on the best star for 'The Hobbit' (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2009/07/harry-potter-or-dr-who-who-would-make-the-best-bilbo-baggins.html)

Who should it be?

Oh, and I also stumbled here:

http://www.howitshouldhaveended.com/

for the first time looking up LOTR stuff.  I've never been to this site before, but it has some funny stuff.  The He-Man vid they embedded in their front page is hilarious.

Here's their LOTR vid:

How about Ian Holm and not totally fuck it up. As many people as possible should reprise their roles from LOTRs.

Agreed, Bilbo was old in the hobbit.
Title: Re: Bilbo Baggins?

Well, he wasn't old...Bilbo was the same age in the Hobbit as Frodo was in LOTR.  50ish, I think.  So they already skewed that by casting Frodo way too young with Elijah Wood.  But Ian Holm may be a little too old to play the role...there's a lot of stuff he'd have to do, and requiring him to physically execute might be asking a lot of him.  Then again, they could always CGI him in there.

There's only one actor who makes sense to cast in this role, and that actor is Tobey Maguire.

Spider-Hobbit.

As for Holm, he could always have stunt Hobbits.

I should play bilbo.  I have a sting replica in my car that I drive around with at all times.  It glows blue whenever bad tippers draw near.

I'm very disturbed as to why you have a glowing blue Gordon Sumner replica in your car.  Doesn't he take up a seat you could use for another passenger?

I am very disturbed that someone with an advanced degree is worried about tippers.

Shouldn't it be the Beefcake Factory? You know, since he's such a beefcake?

Wah-wah-wah-waaaaaaaaaaaah...

Seriously, I have no idea what he looks like, but he's always talking about how he's a future movie star who's constantly getting laid, and I'm pretty sure Rama's mentioned more than once that IDE's a sexy muscleman and that he'd totally do him or something. I can't remember the specifics.

This is how I picture him:

IDE never posts pics, something Faye did. But then I never post pics and I consider myself quite attractive.

I don't work at the Cheesecake factory, however, so I am not a Gay.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a picture of you cosplaying Miroku from Inuyasha.

Faye was pretty hot to trot, as I recall.

Wasn't Sam hooking up with her for a while there?

There have been several pics of IDE posted publically over the years.  I've seen one with a Conan sword, once as a luchadore, another dressed as some samurai-thing, and one while dressed as the Duffman.  And that doesn't even take the infamous hooraygoldengod.gif into account.

A friend recently divorced her financier husband who was living in Singapore most of the year after a detective got a tape of him getting a gargle from a teenage-looking hooker on the street.  His buddy was also recording it on his phone.   That was about the mildest thing she got a report on.  The guy shat money and could buy all sorts of entertainment.

Duh, it didn't even occur to me that Sabat has a David Cross vibe going on.  Frankly, I welcome an Anti-Sandler.  I can't watch him carry a movie.  Through I still want to see that Zohan movie.  Did anyone see that?  Was it funny?

Damn, you just reminded me that I haven't watched that either. Not sure if its any good, though.

Also, Funny People wasn't carried by Sandler, it was carried by multiple cast members working . . . almost, as if they were some sort of . . . team?

Okay, its mostly about Sandler's and Rogen's charachters. Sandler is dying, and then doesn't. He decides to try to do stuff, stuff's husband has a problem with that. Meanwhile Rogen is Sandler's assistant/friend who is also trying to get this nerdy chick but fails, but then kind of gets her. Shit. I am making this movie sound awful. Its not, trust me.

And I don't care who plays Bilbo Teabaggins, I just want the god damn movie to fucking come out. It's been what, since 2004 since LOTR came out? They should have done it while the popularity of the movies was high, not now while it's starting to wane....

...unless this is a calculated move and they'll release the "extended re-edited directors cut" of the trilogy at the same time, Lucas style.

Also, Del Toro and Peter Jackson is a dynamic duo that can't go wrong.

I know there's a reason I yelled that, but I can't remember.  The impulse is still there for whatever reason even though it no longer recognizes the cause.

I don't think they needed any surge of popularity to boost LOTR though.  (As least I didn't see it with Fellowship.)  That and the Hobbit had been around long enough to do well, methinks.

Man. Look at that guy. So British. So, so British. He obviously got the role by default.

I was reading an article about the casting of this movie, and all the actors playing the dwarves are these hunky beefcake types. There was some quote from someone involved in the production saying something about, "The character of Thorin Oakenshield, blah, blah, blah, he's a real heartthrob."

And I was all, "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT."

Of course, they want to bring out the ladies, but God damn is it ever ridiculous how they're going about it.

Which is obviously the one true origin of Onslaught.

I heard Marvel was bringing Onslaught back in some upcoming story arc.

DO NOT WANT

I guess it'll be easier to do scale doubles in this Hobbit movie, since they'll only be needing one really big guy (or a big suit) to play Gandalf rather than fourteen little people to be Dwarves and Hobbit. But, what's the point of casting heartthrobs in roles where they'll be prostheticized nearly beyond recognition?
