Goddamnit. NOOOOO!! dragonball should stay in anime, not made into a real movie....again!
-
at least those aren't official pictures
-
Omg whoever plays Vegeta, he better be HOT
-
I don't think vegeta is in this one. He'll be in the sequel. Hopefully I'll be famous enough by then to play Raditz or Nappa.
-
We already talked about this in the Writers' Strike thread. You just jinxed it earlier than you thought.
-
damnit!
and double damnit for what IDE said. There's no WAY they would do a DB movie without Vegeta. No.
-
DB existed for years without him, so I think they could probably make do.
-
Piccolo's the main enemy, IIRC. As he fuckin' should be!
-
Fuck Piccolo! Vegeta is, IMO, more popular than Piccolo. Actually, I think Vegeta might be the 2nd most popular character of all DB , Goku being the first one of course.
-
Exactly which is why there is no reason to break him out in the first movie. Everyone is going to see this piece of shit anyway. And vegeta guarantees everyone comes out for the sequel as well.
-
Piccolo's pretty popular too though, isn't he? Sure, he kinda lame'd out over time but so did Vegeta.
-
Who's the little bald kid that runs around with the little spiky black haired kid? I'll say he's my favorite from the 4 or so episodes I've seen.
-
Krillan
-
Krillin.
No, I say, first movie Goku and Vegeta, second one, those two plus Gohan and Trunks! I say kill Chichi, she's an useless bitch
-
Vegeta wasn't even in the Dragon Ball anime. If it wasn't Piccolo, then Tenshinhan would have to be the main baddie. But having Ten fight a child isn't too sporting.
The whole Saiyan thing was BS. Everytime they get beat up and/or die, they automagically come back stronger? Whatever. Piccolo had to work to get where he was!
-
That is a technicality. This is clearly not Dragon Ball. Goku is too old. This is DBZ. Was there an old goku in regular DB? If so this is that gray area and not the trademark little boy with monkey tail that DB is commonly associated with.
-
Good observation!
But goddamnit, I don't see Vegeta anywhere in the characters list :-( only Piccolo, Bulma, Chichi, Master Roshi and the fat guy. :'(
-
Yeah I know Vegeta isn't going to be in this one.
But think about it. It's fucking Dragon Ball Z. They've probably signed a 3 picture deal already. Everybody and their fucking mother has seen this anime. They're not worried about whether they'll get to do a sequel. They know they'll get one.
-
They won't if it bombs.
-
They will if it sells enough DVDs and downloads and even if it's a total clusterfuck, it just might. I'm with IDE on this one. This'll be a multi-picture thing. Vegeta will probably be next. They probably would like to do several pictures with one for each villain (like one for Frieza, Cell, etc...) Being that it would be cut to motion picture length and not crammed with filler like the anime, it *could* work. Not that I think it necessarily will. But it could. I think this would have to tank horribly to not at least get a sequel film featuring Vegeta.
-
O yeah! i'm hopeful now!
but who could they cast as Vegeta....hmmm.....it has to be someone with big eyebrows and hot...hmmm Christ Noth!no, too old
-
Actually, the manga is just Dragon Ball. The Z only came with the anime and the Americanization of the manga.
I'll see it in the theater, but not until it gets to the $2.50 cinema. I spent the last 5 years pretending it didn't exist, I'm not gonna spend $8 on that shit.
-
Hence why I said "anime" and not "manga". Such a distinction becomes important when one considers that the anime is what made the property popular in America. So why didn't they start where the anime did? They obviously chose to start with the events of the martial arts tournament with the first ongoing rivalry of the series simply because it's simpler.
That is a technicality. This is clearly not Dragon Ball. Goku is too old. This is DBZ. Was there an old goku in regular DB? If so this is that gray area and not the trademark little boy with monkey tail that DB is commonly associated with.
After Goku defeated Demon King Piccolo as a child, he grew up before taking on the younger incarnation of Piccolo (Ma Junior) in the tournament. This was at least four years before Raditz arrived to kidnap Gohan in the first episode of the Dragon Ball Z anime. Remember what Goku looked like in that fight? That's where he was at the end of the original show.
-
I never did see that fight. Perhaps I should.
-
Shit i haven't watched Dragon Ball in at LEAST 7 years
-
I never did see that fight. Perhaps I should.
It was good, and it was really the first of the Dragon Ball Z style fights, with Goku and Piccolo being on a much higher plane than the rest of the fighters. It was cool in that you saw the extent of weirdness that Kami/Piccolo were capable of (yes, Kami fought in the tournament, too).
The Tenshinhan/Goku fight was probably the most interesting of them all. The main thing that sticks out for me was that you'd never have predicted how it ended...definitely an "oh my damns" moment.
-
Damn you all with your spanish websites! :/
-

SHit I don't remember that fight at ALL. damnit I'm getting old
-
Ernie fucking Hudson! (http://www.dragonballmovieblog.com/2008/02/ernie-hudson-joins-dragonball.html) The first comment says it all.
-
From the official cast list:
Carey Fuller - Texas Battle
Emi - Shavon Kirksey
Agundas - Richard Blake
Weaver - Luis Arrieta
Who the hell are these clowns??!!
-
Aw fuck, I don't care about Dragonball, but Ernie Hudson is the man. I may have to see it.
-
He'll have to borrow Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor suit to play Mr. Popo.
-
Here's hoping they don't overdo the tits. I wonder if he'll do a Mr. Popo voice. I'm also a bit disturbed that they call him an "altar boy".
-
They won't if it bombs.
Bloodrayne got a sequel.
That has also made me doubt the existence of God. Any Divine Being with any mercy wouldn't have let the first one be made, let alone let it get a part 2.
-
I want to know who is going to play Vegeta, damnit :'(
-

I tried watching the first one, I really did. Ugh. They should've just made it a pr0n.
-
I made it all the way through, but my ablity to stomach really bad movies is the only thing that kept me from shoving a pencil through both of my eyes. I consider it the worst movie ever made. Even worse then Hobgoblins.
-
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is the worst movie ever made. If you don't believe me, re-watch it.
-
Oh it is, I agree. The first one had shitty graphics and stuff, but it worked. The film itself was kind of a joke, but there was so much win in it, it just negated the shitty reptile cg. Anihilation was loaded with fail, and Dexter's dad made a shitty raiden. Not to mention all of the Jax=nigra "OH YEAH!" and "DAMN SUCKA!".
Needed more lesbian oil fights.
-

I just saw it last week, and I still stand by my statement that Bloodrayne was worse.
-
Batman and Robin.
-
Gay superheroes cannot be trump by just a complete lack of story and overall artistic vision. It's like 14 fanfic authors wrote ahiliation, and the special effects were farmed out to flash artists.
-
Oh yeah...Ahiliation is easly worse then Batman and Robin.
-
Everybody is forgetting about Alone in the Dark. Tara Reid? A doctor? Pffft!
-
Once MK lost Bridgitte Wilson as Sonya, they lost me.
-
Everybody is forgetting about Alone in the Dark.
Well we were trying to...
-
Once MK lost Bridgitte Wilson as Sonya, they lost me.
They lost me the minute they offed Johnny Cage.
Maybe it was just the experience of it. I saw MKII in a theater. I saw B&R on a bored Christmas eve at Grandma's house. Perhaps that's why it's somehow more torturous to me. That and the nipples.
-
And I heard that Lohan turd "I Know Who Killed Me" or whatever was pretty awful. Haven't seen it (and never will) so I have no way of saying so myself.
-
They lost me the minute they offed Johnny Cage.
Motherfuck. Had a client's son show up from Canada in 1995 at the agency (post-divorce, pre-Eddie) and he looked like Linden Ashby's clone. That was an interesting lunch. And dinner the next night. :D
-
Well who else could match his talent for playing a douchebag?
-
Seriously.....Hobgoblins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobgoblins_(film) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobgoblins_(film))
Still not as bad as Bloodrayne, but still bad enough to make you wish for death.
-
I'll see you a Hobgoblin and raise you a Leprechaun 4: In Space. Apparently Warwick Davis really needed rent money before the Harry Potter movies came along.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leprechaun_4:_In_Space (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leprechaun_4:_In_Space)
One small step for man. One giant leap of terror!
-
Only way to know for sure is to have a watch off. I'll watch yours, you watch mine and the first one to crack has to admit defeat. I bet you crack by the epic rake fight. And if not, then the "Club Scum" sequence will leave you a drooling mess.
-
Or maybe Hobgoblins 2 will fix that.
-
I hear it's just the same movie and is more of a remake then a sequel, but I don't think it can top the 80s camp of the first.
-
I don't see how a movie with 80's camp value can be that bad. Hob 2, however, promises to have all the hollow wax and polish and blaring, unrelated soundtrack commercialism of every other modern-day, direct-to-dvd piece of crap out of there.
-
You wouldn't think 80s camp could be bad...but it is...oh it is.

OMG HE LOOKS COMPLETELY FUCKABLE
-
Yeah, if you have an ass-loving dick.
-
Why is Goku white?
-
He turns into an Aryan superman. Why WOULDN'T he be white?
-
Why is Goku white?
He's off-white.
Then again, Goku's not even human. Be glad he's not green.
-
He should be.
-

Considering Speed Racer's silver screen adaptation makes it look like a fucking futuristic videogame (and the sole reason I refuse to put down a single penny for that movie), I'm not suprised.
Edit: oh yea, and any movie where the tagline is "in a future built for speed", you know it's going to be bad.
-
It looks bad in that "Rent it later" way. Like you WANT to see it, but you know it's going to be so horrible that you DON'T want to see it.
-
Edit: oh yea, and any movie where the tagline is "in a future built for speed", you know it's going to be bad.
Perfectly acceptible for my pants, though.
-
I saw that picture of Goku and "Wake Up When September Ends" started playing in my head. That shit ain't right.
-
And unless someone borrows it and I get to see it for free, I won't be watching Speed Racer on account of the fact that Speed is totally not hot. Every picture I see of that guy, he looks constipated.
-
I'll wait for On Demand.
-

Bulma looks hot. :) Yamcha does not. :goddammit:
-
Fucking a, the whole cast SUCKS. I'd still do the guy who plays Goku though...but the guy who wrote that thing is right, he looks kinda dead
-
I agree. He's just going through the motions.
-
The moronic DBZ fans who only watch the show (usually adolescent boys or men who haven't grown up) only like the show because it has gratuitous violence. It's like the fans of wrestling. You're not manly enough unless you have huge muscles and kick the ass of everyone around you.
As long as this movie has insane amounts of violence every retarded DBZ fan out there will flock to it, no matter how shitty the acting or plot.
-

Like Speilberg in a movie not about Jews.
-

WAIT!! This isn't the way things are?!

Ehm...you are talking of DBZ like if it was some sort of Saint Seiya....DBZ has not that much violence at ALL.
-
lol whut?
-
Granted, most of DBZ is sweating and grunting and charging up in anticipation of violence, which lasts for a year per fight with intermissions of more sweating, grunting, and charging. But it was and is a fun show that people just tend to get overly excited about.
This movie on the other hand looks like a celluloid abortion.
-
The only thing this movie needs to succeed (for me anyway) is awesome special effects during the fight scenes. I always thought the effects they used in "The One" would be great for DBZ.
-
As long as they don't over-do them like with Speed Racer, bleh.
-
Where is One Piece: The movie.
-
Hopefully in the dumpster behind a major motion picture studio where it belongs.
-
Set Fail
