Take the Reavers from Firefly/Serenity, add a little Resident Evil and Blade, and you have I Am Legend, which me and my friend went and saw last night.
The idea is that humans tried to make a genetically altered virus to cure cancer, and it became a plague that kills most people, and turns the rest into violent, hyper-aggressive, light sensitive, flesh eating zombie/vampire things.
Will Smith plays a guy who thinks he's the last living uninfected human on earth, having a natural immunity to the virus. By day he hunts deer, gathers supplies, looks for other survivors, and works on a cure for the virus. By night he locks himself in a fortress so the infected can't find him.
The movie does a pretty good job of showing the effects of isolation on a human... Will talks to maniquins as if they're living people and has lengthly conversations with his dog. Eventually he starts going crazy. The only negative was that the monsters were all CG and they didn't look entirely real. If they can make Gollum look solid, why do they often fuck up in other movies?
It had it's slow, quiet moments, it's moments of Will's character going fruity, it had scary horror moments, and it had moments with Will running around with machine guns killing the zombie people. It was a good movie.
It wasn't faithful to the book though... if you want faithful, stick with the original movie, The Last Man On Earth.
-
I saw that movie like a month ago.
But I thought it was pretty good too.
-
I thought this was going to be about the Cruise/Curry fantasy flick from the 80s, Legend.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089469/
-
The book was interesting.
-
Merla wanted to see it until I told her the end.
She didn't want to see Will Smith die. She'd rather see Independence Day again.
-
The dog dies. Pass. :'(
-
AUGH! You fuckers just spoiled me!
Now its on!
-
If a critter dies and I don't get spoiled, it's on. The people can pound sand.
-
 Yeah. I don't want to see a movie where a pet dies. Well the non-annoying ones anyway. A chihuahua smashing into the pavement is something I take on a case-by-case basis.
-
I don't like how the ending of the book is different to the ending of the movie.
-
The whole movie is different from the book.. wtf...
-
Yeah, why bother? Why not make a different disease flick? I'll never understand Hollyweird.
-
I thought they did it that way because Will Smith spoiled the ending on a tv show?
-
If they did, then that's doubly retarded.
-
http://www.toxicshock.tv/news/2007/12/04/i-am-legend-ending-spoiled-by-will-smith-will-now-be-changed/
-
But there's a book! It's different but he still dies in both the book and movie. People were already spoiled.
-
This reminds me of the time that someone told me that the boat sank at the end of Titanic. Fuck was I pissed.
-
But there's a book! It's different but he still dies in both the book and movie. People were already spoiled.
Yeah but not everybody had read the book! Maybe the ending was different already before he spoiled it
-
*avoids looking at the thread*
There are people that don't even read the potter books that still see the movies. This book isn't nearly as popular as them so the amount of people who don't want to be spoiled should be pretty high for this one. I already know about the main premise so maybe I'm spoiled. The dog doesn't really die you simpering pansies its just a story! I would only need to be spoiled if an actual dog was actually going to lose its life on screen.
Also, I won't be returning to this thread until after I've seen this movie (which could be months from now) so don't reply to this post!
And since I'm never coming back I can safely tell you all to suck it! :D
-
It doesn't matter if it's not necessarily popular and people haven't read it. There's still a book of the same name where the guy dies at the end. The book was written in 1954. That means loads of people already know the ending. That means all you have to do is Wikipedia the movie and you could still find something about the book and the book's ending. In fact, if you Google "I am Legend", the book entry is #4 (and the ending is there). He doesn't die the same way, but it's there that Neville dies.
Anyone going into Harry Potter movies have no business getting hissy when the book's been out for years. Besides, what do you care about spoilage? You had no problems shouting the ending out to a book the night it was released. Nevermind the whole, "what are you doing in an I Am Legend thread when you were so set at not being spoiled" thing.
-
you can still suck it!
After watching it I've decided I look the book version better even though I haven't read it. I like that he was a "legend" among the non insane vampires. This I'm a "legend" because I "lol made the cure" thing is crap in comparison. I kept waiting for the cool vampires to show up and they never did :/
-
I'll never suck it. :p
And I agree with the rest of what you said. The cure thing was stupid.
As for ppl not reading the book, Faye, they wouldn't have to. The point I was making was that book and its ending have been out for years. Someone's grandparents could inadvertently spoil it.
-
I'll never suck it. :p
not even a little?
-
Nein!
-
Well, of course the dog doesn't really die. I go to movies for suspension of belief and entertainment. I don't consider the death of an animal, especially elevated to the companionship level the dog was in that story, to be "entertainment". You sound like my ex-husband who got pissed off because I couldn't watch the torment scenes in "Elephant Man" and eat dinner at the same time.
-
You are supposed to feel the deep loss of the dog, thats the whole point. I can now make fun of you for only watching happy sunshine rainbow monkey movies where nothing ever goes wrong.
-
Actually, my favorite movies are Picnic at Hanging Rock, Dangerous Liaisons, and Battle of the Bulge. Of the three, BOTB probably has the most happy bunnies and angel farts. Mock away. ;D
-

I concur. I know and don't care if it's pretend. It's like Adam Sandler movies, weddings, and MTV after 1995: I don't want to see it and seeing it doesn't entertain me.
-
So some movie could be the greatest movie ever but if a dog happens to die in it then you won't see it?
FAIL.
-
Honorable mention: Das Boot, almost for soundtrack alone. Saw it again last night.
"Greatest movie" is an abstract concept. That accolade is frequently given to Gone With The Wind; usually by people who aren't black. I doubt anyone with an unsolved child abduction in the family would enjoy Picnic at Hanging Rock. After being the only survivor of night raids twice in the Phillipines and getting bronze stars for pulling tentmates from the scene (some on fire), my dad didn't care to watch WWII movies.
If I want to see a suffering animal, all I have to do is go to one of the rescue groups I work with. If I want to see one die, all I have to do is hang around for a few days until one that didn't match the carpet or had the misfortune to belong to some worthless shits who had a baby and decided that the loving faithful pet was expendable doesn't get adopted or fostered and has to be put down. I don't need to pay ten bucks to see it on film.
*Hands Nuri her scarlet "F"* Wear it proudly, sister! :raiseroof:
-
No one is making movies about killing dogs. Did you boycott Harry Potter because of Hedwig? This dog was turned into a vampire, there is no way that event "hits home" with anyone. They don't even show the actual killing. Are you saying you've never seen Old Yeller? It's a great movie and I'll admit I cried when he died. I cried manly man tears. The kind where there is no sobbing just tears rolling down your face like an indian whose seen his homeland littered with coke cans and used condoms.
I guess skipping movies because a fictional animal dies is something you have to have a vagina to understand.
-
ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! :scream:
Okay, let's consider this angle:
I'm over 21.
I'm a taxpayer in a democracy.
I like apple pie, Mom, and have, in the past, driven a Chevrolet.
If. I. don't. want.to.see.this.movie. be.it.because.the.dog.dies.or.because.Will.Smith. has.big.ears. I.WON'T. SEE. IT!!!!!!!
Maybe Cartman phrased it best:
WHATEVAH!!! I DO WHAT I WANT!!!!
And Where The Red Fern Grows and Sounder beat Old Yeller all to hell for wringing tears from dog guardians.
Oh, and I really don't know if I'm qualified to answer on the vagina bit since mine is for novelty purposes only.
-
No one is saying that you have to see it. I'm saying its crazy to miss a great movie (not this one persay) because of a fictional dog death. Nothing will change my mind about this unless you post a picture of your boobs which always achieves a de facto win of any online debate I'm involved in.
-
Darling boy, you fear body piercings on a woman over 35 and request boobage of a woman to be 47 in August?
I could pass muster....play volleyball when young, girls....but I fear fits from Eddie.
And you did get me thinking - I don''t have a DVD in the bunch with a happy ending, unless you count Glen or Glenda when Barbara (a lovely and intellegent girl) gives him the angora sweater to wear. Even though I own no black vests, maybe I should stay away from the razor blade aisle in Home Depot. :pout:
Anyway, finally the phone has stopped ringing. I also object to the brilliant original novel being screwed with. I don't know what Hollywood has against Richard Matheson, but they did it with this book before in Omega Man, and this time, you have to wait for the DVD and pay again to get the ending consistent with the author's original vision - bah!! Hell House was ruined on film as The Legend of Hell House. Bid Time Return was passably adapted as Somewhere in Time, but still...sheesh. It reminds me of the interview with Guillermo del Toro about fighting the studio tooth and nail to keep Hellboy from driving a Hellmobile and having a "Hellhound" dog as a companion. And lots of cute warm fuzzy moments with all the kittehs as well, I suppose. Fer fuck's sake....
-
So some movie could be the greatest movie ever but if a dog happens to die in it then you won't see it?
FAIL.
I should've clarified. With "Legend", it's more like "I don't want to see that fucking lame-ass Will Smith movie-- yet another flick with all gloss and no substance-- that completely whores up a perfectly good story" and a dead dog is just one more reason not to see it. The whole "I've cured every-1 now I is teh legend" is what clinched that I would never, ever see it.
Are you saying you've never seen Old Yeller?
No, I wasn't but I haven't. Why the fuck do I need to see "Old Yeller" anyway? I have no reason in the world to ever watch it. "I bonded with teh dawg. I shot it now I be a man." Fuck you, little boy. I've bonded with animals and then watched as they were spirited away by the cold, indiscriminating arm of death. I don't need a movie to see that shit.
I guess skipping movies because a fictional animal dies is something you have to have a vagina to understand.
Or perhaps skipping movies where a fictional animal dies has something to do with the loss of real animals and is completely independent and unrelated to possession of vag.
As for Hedwig, we all knew by Book 7 she had a good chance of biting it. Nevermind how retarded it would be boycott something already 6 books in.
-
I'm saying its crazy to miss a great movie (not this one persay)
Exactly, dammit.
-
Or perhaps skipping movies where a fictional animal dies has something to do with the loss of real animals and is completely independent and unrelated to possession of vag.
No way, if that was the case then you wouldn't be able to watch when humans die because of it having to do with the loss of real humans. This must be vag related.
-
I can see a humans die on film and it does nothing in the way of making me feel sad. Pets, especially dogs, however do.
And then of course there is the one cardinal rule of film making.....Never kill the dog.
-
*plots the screenplay for a zombie dog movie*
BTW, the best movie of all time is Casablanca. But, I maintain that my favorite remains Ben-Hur.
-
Hee - Tim Burton did that in "Vincent":
He likes to experiment on his dog Abercrombie
In the hopes of creating a horrible zombie
So he and his horrible zombie dog
Could go searching for victims in the London fog
-
When the aliens attack they will broadcast sad fictional dog deaths directly into your brains. This will incapacitate many panty waists. It will be up to me and my ilk, who are made of sterner stuff (i.e. we're only effected by actual dog deaths) to save the planet.
-
While you're at it, wipe out the notion that average dogs of specific breeds will behave like highly-trained entertainment industry dogs. It took us a while to get through the overflow of discarded Dalmatians and Jack Russell terriers bought by morons who thought they'd behave like Pongo & Perdy and Eddie from Frasier.
From a dog's standpoint, the relationship between Sam & Neville was ideal. Migratory life with purpose, leader with an independent mindset....some of the most obedient, well-adjusted dogs out there are with the homeless. Regardless, we don't want to see the movie. We don't want to see that Disney movie with the abandoned sled dogs.
We have too much bullshit and deception from Eddie's family to deal with right now - there's no use trying to explain what our dogs do for our sanity right now because I really don't think you'd get it, and I'm not trying to insult you. Not discounting the cats, but they're passive, relaxing comfort. Right now, active devotion is a big help. Plus when my back is really giving me hell in the morning, Rowan stands by the tub in case I need to put a hand down on his back while stepping into the shower, so Eddie gets to sleep later. :P I didn't teach him this - he just saw Eddie helping me sometimes and made the connection. To have a cat tall enough for this, I'd have to pay $20K for an Ashera.

-
Theres another kind of cat that I want thats pretty exotic. It looks like a little gray leopard. I think its called a fisher cat but I'm not sure.
I also want one of those long eared foxes.
-
I miss having kitties. I'm not home enough to buy one right now (I live with my mom), and my boyfriend is allergic to cats and just plain doesn't like them.
-

It's the same with me but, like me, I bet he wouldn't boycott a movie over it.
-
Where in this thread is there any mention of "boycott"?
-
Boycott, refuse to see because of, etc.
In fact yes, boycott is the word and it was used properly.
To abstain from using as an expression of disfavor.
-
I refuse to watch "My Dog Skip." Cause someone told me how the dog died at the end of the movie and it was the sadest thing I'd ever heard. So I won't watch it cause the dog died.
-
*reads the spoiler*
that is so fucking sad :(
-
I retract my previous statement...
Rama is in fact a woman.
-
THE DAMN DOG GETS WHACKED BY A SHOVEL IN FRONT OF A YEAR OLD!
That and the Patriots losing the Super Bowl this year will probably be the only things that make me cry.
-
I'm sure moose gave a riveting performance as usual and anyone who is refusing to see him perform is actively insulting his work as an actor.
-
Especially when the shovel caused his little eyeballs to pop out of his head.
-
Rama is in fact a woman.
Welcome to multiple orgasms and never having to take that little blue pill, Rama. ;)
-
Morpheus tells Rama to take the red pill so he doesn't have babies.
-
I refuse to watch "My Dog Skip." Cause someone told me how the dog died at the end of the movie and it was the sadest thing I'd ever heard. So I won't watch it cause the dog died.
how did it die???
-
Rama is in fact a woman.

Well as long as I can be a Lesbian.

Well you never see it on film. But while the kid is away at college the dog curls up on his bed and dies of old age.
-
If I were the dog, I would have died when I saw Frankie Muniz was my owner. :puke:
-
Wait....IDE doesn't really believe I'm a woman. He hasn't hit on me yet.
-
Morpheus tells Rama to take the red pill so he doesn't have babies.
Yea, but you have to take it at the same time everyday or it doesn't work.
-

I disagree but I won't mince with semantics. Dead pets are just something I don't care to nor want to see. I don't go through each movie I think about watching and evaluate it for dead-petism before I see it. Every movie I've passed on has been because it looks too sappy, too dull, too gross, and/or like a sack of shit. You're completely overdramatizing my stance on this.
-
Wait....IDE doesn't really believe I'm a woman. He hasn't hit on me yet.
Oh well. You'll always have Toe.

Then if a great movie comes out and a pet happens to die in it you'd see it. That's all you had to say. Unless you wouldn't see it based on that alone even though this was a movie that you would consider perfect otherwise. In which case I've dramatized your stance on this perfectly.
Vag patrol: We won't see it if aminalz die!
Me: Gay!
And you can disagree with the dictionary all you want it's boycott baby!

Does your contempt for women have anything to do with your addiction to them and the fact that a pretty one can drag you around by the short hairs indefinitely? :raiseeyebrow:
Might want to consider redirecting your ire to some of the school districts who have banned books like the Mary O'Hara's Wyoming trilogy - most are only familiar with the first one, My Friend Flicka. Don't even try to judge it by either of the sappy movies. Let's see - in that one, we have a vivid description of gelding (from which one horse dies), a cougar killing a cow (twists its head around until the muzzle is pointing upward), a horse caught in barbed wire....Thunderhead gets better with the title horse killing its grandsire, the "blood and brains mingling with the earth of his beloved valley"....and Green Grass of Wyoming with Pilgrim the dog getting gored to death by a bull - just a few occurences of animal-related violence in these books. Not hokey plot devices; all part and parcel of life on a half-wild Wyoming ranch. I read these in 4th grade, and now the Bubble Wrap Committee says these books are unsuitable for anyone under 14 - feh!!! :disgust:
-
True story: I saw my little sister's friend get launched 15 feet across the room when we were at the farm next door and he was kicked in the face after getting too close to the back of a cow.
I thought the little dude was dead for sure.
-
Wait....IDE doesn't really believe I'm a woman. He hasn't hit on me yet.
Oh well. You'll always have Toe.
Yeah but the fact that even Merla got asked for some boobage from IDE and I didn't is really hurting my self esteem. What's wrong with my rack?
-

My contempt for women is matched only by my love for them. Indefinitely? pffft, Humans aren't monogamous by nature and far it be from me to defy nature...well maybe someday.
I agree censoring those books is retarded, but I like focusing my ire right here :P

Witch's tits are cold.

http://www.dinosaurlive.com/ (http://www.dinosaurlive.com/)
Saw this on Sunday - some Utahraptors eating a dead one, flinging guts everywhere. Didn't bother me. ;D
-
Of course it didn't you are only affected by the deaths of cuddly wuddly aminalz. The lives of reptiles and insects are of no consequence. Except maybe in cases like http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088760/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088760/).
-
Or maybe it has something to do with not spending a lot of weekends helping to socialize abused dinosaurs and find homes for abandoned ones.
And never saw it. Maybe if it had been a baby stegosaurus. Steggies rule.
-
And you can disagree with the dictionary all you want it's boycott baby!
No, I disagree with YOU.
-
Well then theres only one way to settle this...a cooking oil wrestling match.
-
Make it olive oil and I'm in. Crisco's got some nasty shit in it. :pokewithstick:
-
I was thinking of using Wesson and having Mrs. Brady officiate.
-
She's cool. Had a thing with Greg going on, and how much younger was he? :hump:
-
Make it olive oil and I'm in. Crisco's got some nasty shit in it. :pokewithstick:
You'll have to fight Popeye and Bluto to get her.
-
Now I want some spinach.
-
The dog dying was intragal to the plot line. It was so the character would lose his best and closest (and only) friend and start going insane afterwards. I'd watch it again and again even knowing the dog died.
And no, I didn't want the dog to die either. But I understood why she died.
-
I saw The Yearling on some old movie channel for the first time. I thought it was supposed to be this epic tear-jerker. Didn't affect me one way or the other. :-\
-
The dog dying was intragal to the plot line.
It's really not whether or not it's intragral. It's simply not what I look for in entertainment. I saw the movie "Shiri" the other night and I was distracted by trying to count how many fish in that movie died. All I could think of was that it really wasn't a good enough movie to kill fish for.
-
Name a movie you think is great.
-
Not falling for it.

I'd like to join this omniversal war and say I won't see I Am Legend for the same reason as Bernie.
Now, if it was a baby/child or another person it wouldn't bother me, but something about household pet death really rubs the wrong nerve.
-
Not falling for it.
It's cause you don't like anything and are a big whiner baby. *sparkle sparkle*
-
*Gives Max owl pellet with sugar on top* :-*
According to my sister, the Yearling didn't affect her either because the whole movie was so depressing. She siad she would have probably shot herself as well as the deer just to escape from the horrible life the characters had. We had to read Where The Red Fern Grows in 6th grade and went on a movie field trip - the pathos of the final "fern" scene was totallly ruined because the thing was so obviously a plastic frond shoved into the dirt. A good book ruined by a shitty movie will always make me want to cry.
-
Would you sacrifice someone else's child to save your dog?
-
If the kid is a brat then yes.
-
You don't know the kid at all.
-
I do not rank myself above other mammals, so I sacrifice myself and save them both. Just as I sacrifice myself to endless scorn now by admitting I went through a lot of kleenex during the Torchwood finale.
-
You don't know the kid at all.
Of course not. Nobody understands him, that's why he hates the world.
-

Nuri, when ya shave him bald, can I watch?
-
Nuri, I have an ancient razor that uses double-edge blades and weighs about 5 pounds. You can hold it by the end of the handle and swing it like a pendulum until you reach bare skull. :samurai:
-
Why would I shave him? Unless you mean scalp him, but I would need some buffalo and wagon present to make the reenactment complete.
-
And why am I assuming shaving his head was meant?
-
So did I.
-
The thing about seeing the death of the dog as entertainment is misguided in my opinion...it's not meant to entertain, it's meant to make you hate those responsible for it and invest your emotions into the story. Cheap, maybe, but to discount a movie because of this is just going too far. It's not done because it's entertaining, it's done because it's bad and hurts your inner 4 year-old's feelings and makes you pull for Will Smith to kill every zombie in creation.
But to each his or her own. I don't watch movies for various reasons...mainly excessive gore and violence, Pauly Shore, meaningless sex scenes, Divine, etc.
-
But to each his or her own.
DINGDINGDINGDINGDING!!!!
Thank you for getting it! :raiseroof:
-
What?! You can't DING for "To each his own".
I could say I like fucking dead chinchilla's and someone could say back "To each his own" and it would be the same deal.
-
Well, silly silly me for assuming that a reply to a quote in a thread was related to the context of the poster I quoted. Boy howdy, you sure learned me a thing or two. ::)
Seriously - Good Lord! You're obsessing more about people seeing this movie than my tweenie goddaughter does about Zac Whatistoes from High School Musical! I HAVE to have a job...we HAD to sent the IRS $3416 this year (self-perpetuating cycle there....)....I DON'T have to see this movie! I'm.not.interested. The reason is not important to anyone except marketing personnel for the studio - if you are such, let me know and I will be happy to participate in the survey. If it changed your life or you've got a mad mancrush on Will Smith, I'm happy for you! Knock yourself out! Write male Mary Sue fanfiction about how you comforted Neville after Sam died to your heart's content - fanfiction.net is awaiting you with open arms!
-
It was made clear several posts ago I'm not obsessing about people seeing this particular movie. I'm calling anyone and everyone a bleeding vagina who would skip an otherwise great movie (again not this movie cause it really wasn't that great) solely because a fictional animal death is portrayed.
And "to each his own" is not about "getting it". It's like the opposite of getting it. It's a copout says I. No "to each his own"s from me. Vaginas! The lot you!
Also at this point I want to know where you rank human life in terms of importance. So this question is for Bernie:
Would you let nuri die if it meant saving your dog's life?
-
Well, you'll have to refresh me - do I holler, "I'm rubber, you're glue...." now, or after I put my thumbs in my ears, waggle my fingers and stick my tongue out?
What was once an interesting debate has turned into one of the reasons I never wanted kids. Coffee break time. :handball:
-
Smarmy remarks instead of answering the question at hand?
I mean if your answer is "I just don't like it" and "to each his own" = "getting it", then we were never really debating anything now were we?
Well played?

And regardless of whether you think I'm behaving like a child or if you being older makes you right, this is still an interesting debate (to me anyway) :)
Only now its shifted away from movies and is about how many (if any) innocent people you would let die to save your precious dogs and whether if you know them personally or not makes a difference.
-
Ah, free trade Sumatra!
Would you let nuri die if it meant saving your dog's life?
Nuri, I'm sure you won't take offense if I don't even bother to dignify this with a reply.
debate - Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, def. 2a: to contend in words syn: see discuss
And it is amusing that you consider "vaginas" an insult. You do realize that a number of people who post here are, in fact, female, right? Ever consider using "dicks" to give the guys some equal representation?
Prozac, Zoloft, drum circle therapy, biofeedback, kava kava drops - so many options....tune in and release the resentment.... Kidding aside, people aren't that stupid. Misogynist attitudes are very easy to pick up on, and they may cost you some jobs. Lots of women make casting decisions.

Nuri said it best - don't know why you're trying to start shit, but whatever. How you've made the logic leap from "I don't want to see this movie" to this is anyone's guess, but if there's something going on in your life that this is an anger outlet for, my sympathies.

From one to the next...
Well, silly silly me for assuming that a reply to a quote in a thread was related to the context of the poster I quoted.
Yeah, just like a reply I made to Doug made him jump back at me with "what movie do you think is great". I wasn't even talking to his ass anymore. I had given up when he decided he was the dictionary.
Vaginas! The lot you!
And that's exactly why I didn't answer the question. And personally, I don't think it improves things when half the time I loathe being female and am likely oversensitive to the word "vagina" as an insult.
interesting debate
I've noticed, for a long time now since it's always been a peeve of mine, that every other irritating person on the internet calls these sorts of back and forths "debates". No one wanted to be in your silly imaginary debate, we were stating opinions. We weren't looking to persuade you or argue with you until you took to twisting our words around and insulting us.
then we were never really debating anything now were we?
NO, WE WEREN'T, FUCKER!!!#JR%H43iqghtl5trhntr;ju;tykuk :joe:
Sadly, looking back over some of his posts, he makes some good points but then proceeds to bury them in a mile-high pile of sexism and bullshit where you can barely find them. Then he wonders why Bernie and I keep trying to take our kickball and go home.
-
I didn't call this a "debate". Bernie did and she said it was interesting and I agreed. And I quoted the dictionary, just like Bernie just did, so I guess this is/was a debate after all, even if it wasn't much of one IMO.
As for using "dick" instead of vagina as insult. Aren't I giving vagina some well deserved equal time? I mean dick has been an insult for years.
p.s. I'm neither angry nor a misogynist...well not a typical misogynist. I mean calling people a vag doesn't a misogynist make. I'm just curious about what different people's views are on the value of human life. I don't see how you can't see the short leap to that from the movies considering many people already posted about how fictional human deaths don't affect them but animals do. It's really not coming out of left field to ask about the non fictional. I don't see how asking that question is "starting shit".
If I'm really upsetting you guys though we can just stop talking about it. I'm not emotionally invested in this argument. And I don't want you to be either.
-
I think this whole thread is all in the mind of an autistic child staring into a snow globe.
-
*missed it*
Are Nuri and IDE the nex Faye and Tom?!
-
My bad for using "debate" as a synonym for "discuss, bullshit, chew the fat", etc. as detailed in the dictionary meaning. It's constantly used in that connotation in the office (and the large conference room is called the "War Room" ::) )
I'm not taking the discusssion any further because a blind monkey slamming Jack & Cokes and playing braille canasta could see that particular Catch-22 from across the street. I get plenty of similar scenarios when I have to take my two classroom hours of Ethics every year to maintain my agent's license, and the whole point of any of them is that every choice has a consequence. Nothing is black and white. One of the groups Eddie & I actively support is Texas Hearing & Rescue Dogs, which rescues shelter dogs and trains them to help the disabled. I'm sure all kinds of points can be made for who benefits more from it, the humans or animals involved.
IDE, if you're not a mysoginist, typical or otherwise, that's great to hear. I wasn't being a smartass with that word of caution - if you can give that impression online, you could possibly do so IRL as well. Not saying that you do because I have no way of knowing, but if so, it could definitely affect audition decisions. There's a lot of competition out there - no sense in making it more difficult.
Now I really will have to take my kickball and go home (love that!). Saturday is Eddie's birthday, and we're both leaving at noon for a nice long weekend, so I have to get everything situated here. ;D
-
Can we play kickball now?
-
Kickball? I wanna play four-square. *pout*
-
You'll have to ask Nuri and Bernie if we can use their kickball.
-
But to each his or her own. I don't watch movies for various reasons...mainly excessive gore and violence, Pauly Shore, meaningless sex scenes, Divine, etc.
so much for Encino Man. Best Pauly Shore movie out there, even with his horrible acting skills.
-
I didn't call this a "debate".
Nothing will change my mind about this unless you post a picture of your boobs which always achieves a de facto win of any online debate I'm involved in.
-
Well I guess we won't know if this was actually a debate unless someone shows their tits and wins.
-

I actually saw that in theater years ago, and I remember exactly zip about it with the exception of his best not being worth spending money on.
And for the record, "and to each his own" = "I don't give a flying fuck what people watch, don't watch, or what reason they give for either or." If that makes me a vagina, I'm going to the bathroom and touch myself incessantly until that first time of the month and then I'll spring for a sex change.

I think most people did.

I don't think SRS can really give you a decent penis. I say live with the vag God gave you.
I remember liking Encino Man. Though in retrospect, I may have been sick when I saw it.
-
I just got my haircut in some ghetto fabulous barber shop. I look menacing as all hell right now. he shaped the sides of may hair like the part above your side burn where your hair comes out towards your eyes a little...into points. Not a thin point but like triangle with a definite point.
I look like jason statham only younger and with more hair.
-
Jason Statham is neither too old or too hairless.
-
OFF TOPIC POST ABOUT HAIR CUT.
-

Just going to use this as a chance to say that if anyone hasn't see "War" to go rent it. I was expecting a mindless action flick, and it was so much more then that. One of the few movies of late that has really impressed me.
-
Why did it impress you?
-
Probably because it was awesome. That's what impressed me about it, at least.
-
It was.
I think it was the fact that I wasn't expecting much out of it, but it had a pretty good twist ending. I might have saw it coming if I was looking for a twist, but I just figured it was a straight forward "You killed my partner, now I want the revenge." flick. Which it wasn't.
-
I looked it up only to realize I had read a whole detailed synopsis already when I decided I wouldn't use a slot in my Netflix queue to rent it.
-
People, talking about Legend (back on topic...well sorta) I saw Will Smith in Manhattan on Saturday! He was filming Hancock. The guy had like 4934093 pounds of make up on. Tall, not fat. Eeh he was ok. Filming on the Square. There was a SHITLOAD of people I couldn't even walk more than 2 feet without having to stop for 5 minutes.
Oh and today I saw Owen Wilson filming "Marley and me" two blocks away from were I work at. Omg I want to do him so badly, he's so hot. I don't know why a lot of girls don't think he's hot, even his nose is sexy! and his hair was shinier than mine :'(
Talking about Netflix, they probably have Twin Peaks don't they? I'm dying to see that show
-
So basically you'll do anyone whose a semi attractive movie star?
-
Excuse me but no. Owen Wilson is not "semi attractive". he's a fucking god. Yes, his nose is a little f-ed up, BUT still hot. I have a weakness for the surfers-type guys.
-
Like Pauly Shore, buuuh-dee!
-
Why is it I am more attracted to pornstars than to actresses? Seriously. Angelina Jolie? Eh. Sunny Leone, Rebecca Linares, Aurora Jolie? Mmmmmmmmmm, seconds please.
-
Aurora Jolie isn't that attractive to me.
-
Aurora Jolie isn't that attractive to me.
...
*SMACK*
BITCH, YOU BEST RECOGNIZE!
-
I think your view of whats attractive has become skewed from being in miami too long. She's very miami looking to me.
-
I honestly don't mind.
Are Rebecca Linares or Sunny Leone 'Miami Looking'?
-
Aurora Jolie isn't that attractive to me.
I'll second that. *GAG* (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_Jolie) And what's up w/ no vaginal but all of this anal crap? So it can be special? What a dumb-shit.
-
I honestly don't mind.
Are R Linares or Sunny Leone 'Miami Looking'?
Not as villager faced as aurora but still very "latina heat" kind of looking.
Also that saving the vag thing is fucking hilarious. I wonder if thats true or if its a stunt to make her "first" vag video sell.
-
Nah...she's a good Catholic Girl and what's too keep her self pure. That's why she only takes it in the ass while shooting pr0n. Jesus would have wanted it that way.
-
Wait WHAT? theres a pr0n star who only takes it up the ass cause she wants to be a virgin? BULLSHIT.
-
I don't mind, as long as the twins flop around.
