Colo. school bans tag on its playground

Fri Aug 31, 1:32 AM ET

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.

"It causes a lot of conflict on the playground," said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.

Running games are still allowed as long as students don't chase each other, she said.

Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban but most parents and children didn't object.

In 2005, two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in favor of alternatives with less physical contact. School officials said the move encouraged more students to play games and helped reduce playground squabbles.

You're it!   :rawr:

They should ban tests, too.  Those can be stressful, harassing the students and making them perform against their will.

If this society is so stagnant and over fed that they're going to do away with kids chasing each other around then perhaps it is time for this empire to topple.

There won't be a back swing into the hardcore until the post nuclear apocalypse.  I'll have white hair, a metal arm, a glowing eye, and a band of rag tag freedom fighters...

At least next time some kid attempts to mug you, you could probably just granny-shove him and kill him instantly.  First purple pens and now this.  Bah.

And I thought not being able to have a trapper keeper was strict.

What?  No trapper keepers?  Is that why they've all but vanished!?  Dude, I loved trapper keepers!  Sadness!  :(

They still sell them...but not with velcro so they might as well not sell them at all.

Yeah, they have some shitty magnet now or something.  I never got to own one with the metal snap closure.  I suppose with these new ones you could always buy the velcro and glue it in place yourself.  I'd buy one and do it, but I don't have much use for them these days.  Since I'm still bus-bound, I tend to travel as light as possible, which means a one inch floppy binder to hold whatever I need for the day.

Did they ever make cartoon themed trapper keepers? Or am I imagining that?

I'm almost certain they did.  I had a generic one that I'd stick my own pictures of shit in.

I remember them not letting the girls have those snap bracelets, cause there was a rumor going around that some kids accidently slit her wrists with one of those. The teachers had to have started that rumor cause they so sick of kids snapping those in class.

We weren't allowed to have them in our school district until like 7th grade or something.  I never had one but they looked sooo cool.

I think every school banned them.  Those and Tamagatchis.  See, those kinds of things make sense... but tag?  Why haven't they banned dogdgeball yet?  It's every kids' nightmare to get hit by a giant red ball by the big kid with underarm hair.

I was in High School by the time Tamagatchis hit it big. So those really weren't a problem. We actually sold those where I worked and we went through them pretty fast.

One time I was dating this girl and she told me about how attractive she finds Axe body spray.
I then proclaimed confusedly that I was wearing Axe at the time, and that I always have, including the occasion shortly before this conversation in which she woke up in my bed, and I took a shower and fucking put Axe on.
She just said "oh" and I dropped it, never coming up again.

I wear....uhhhhh...well it's this stuff that came with a Cardnials shaving bag. It just has the MLB logo on it. But I don't wear cologne very often.

I don't mind the smell of Axe, but I prefer a guy who actually uses cologne and not body spray.

A very small dose of cologne is nice.  But most dudes here are doing fucking Pepe LePew impressions.   The bad thing about Axe and Tag and those is that guys spray half of the damn can on.  Dial that shit back.  Some of the chicks are no better.  BLARG.

Nasty!  But you gotta wonder, especially with the odd jewelery he sports.

There's nothing "odd" about a Buttafuco gold chain and a freaky studded ring.  It's just plain retarded.

I'm a firm believer that guys shouldn't wear jewerly. So no bling for the R-Man.

Jewelry is okay, but not this gold, gaudy thing.  Especially surrounded by a gross thicket of chest hair.  I swear, Bambi was born there or something.

Fuck that shit.  Dodgeball teaches survival.  I was one of the smallest nerdiest kids in my class and I was a fucking demon when playing that game.  If anything, I say there should be more dodgeball.  Provide goggles for the kids that need to wear glasses and go nuts.

I admit that I often use some sort of body spray, but all you need is about a 1/4 second sprizt across the chest to do the job.

Damn straight.  Dodgeball was awesome.  Besides, the dorky kids need to learn to dodge shit more than anyone else.
