A while back an employer called me back. I had filled out a small mini-app for his pizza place. He wanted me to fill out a full app. So I did, and he asked me twice if I have ever delivered pizza before, and I told him I hadn't, but I did have a valid license and insurance.
He just called me again this morning. He didn't want an interview. He wanted to train me.
Hired without an interview! O_O

Well, I can't celebrate entirely yet. Mind you, the app had nothing about schedule, and my schedule this fall is strict. I have morning classes (starting at 10am) mon-fri, and mon and tues I have afternoon classes as well. Plus I hope his schedule doesn't have me working on Labor Day as I had plans then :(. Or tomorrow morning as I had plans to work on a house for Habitat for Humanity.
...We'll see.... :/ If it doesn't work out, I can always use it as a reference. And I had another pizza place interested in hiring me.
-
If it's "work and pay rent" or "keep plans and get a nice cardboard box and a space under the bridge", I think I'd choose the former. Just a thought. :-\
-
Don't deliver to any cryogenics labs unless you want to end up 1000 years in the future lusting after a cyclops.
-
Dude, you were all worried about your rent and now you're worried about your plans? Come on!
-
By the way, black people order pizza, too. Just an FYI.
-
LOL

Don't you ever stop bitching?!? Waaaaa!!!!! I don't have a job! Waaaa!!! I have a job! Make up your bloody mind, mofo!!!

LMAO

That's about the only people I deliver to. And they don't even give me tips! >.< Even a dollar would be nice!
Nigga stole my tip.
The guy asked me to train for a few hours, I ended up staying 9 hours and finally left when I asked him if I could go. The time went by quickly. A lot of the places I deliver will be pretty rough, run down ghetto neighborhoods. I wonder if the hiring rate for this job is high...
Black people don't tip, I swear. At least most of them don't, but one lady younger than me with a kid (watching Avatar... I swear the people who call that Anime are dumbfucks) gave me 3 and would have given me more if she could have found her purse. An old black lady told me to keep the change. And some guy at a factory with gold teeth gave me 3 bucks (for a $40 order). And 90% of the people I seem to deliver to are black.
I mean come on, spare at least a dollar, especially if your order's over $10 (which most are). If I had only one buck from each run, I'd have enough to pay for gas for that night and have some left over. If I got tipped this badly in a restaurant, I'd kick the customer's asses.
Wages - $7 an hour, plus $1 per delivery (which I get at the end of the day)
Dominoes wanted to interview me, but they pay $5.15 an hour and about $1.10 a delivery.
No breaks though, not even a lunch break. I guess I'd have to sneak some food in while I'm driving. :/
-
Pack a lunch and eat it as you go.
-
Maybe Domino's would be better cause its a little more expensive?
-
I used to make myself stuff at the pizza place I worked at in highschool (when the owner was out). It was a pretty rural area so I eventually got to know who was gonna tip well and who wasn't. If I knew they weren't gonna tip me I didn't hurry over there...in fact I went out of my way to not get there by putting their orders behind the people whom I knew tipped well. I forgot why I was fired I know there were some complaint calls, but at least I left with my balls intact.
-
So you accepted a job that pays wages that you don't like, and then you expect people(in the ghetto, no less) to pay you extra money because of this? ::)
Insert picture of Mr. Pink here
-
That's why I got a job in a NICE restaurant. No ghetto trash for me! I just have to deal with crazy drunk kids when I'm cocktailing.
-
Well, this time I got tipped a little better. I think I made about $25 in tips.
I'm suprised no one thought I wasn't supposed to be tipped. Because yes, delivered food is supposed to be tipped 10% (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tip#Delivered_meals). It's just one of those etiquette things. Bellmen at hotels are supposed be tipped too, as well as many other service workers.
The driver is often tipped 10% or 2 dollars whichever is greater. Tips help delivery drivers offset the cost of fuel and an increased cost to maintain their vehicles. A greater tip can be given if the driver has to drive in inclement weather (e.g. snow), carry heavy loads, and/or climb flights of stairs. This issue is complicated by establishments that charge a delivery fee, which is similar to a service charge, although in most cases (e.g. pizza delivery establishments such as Dominos) the driver gets no part of the delivery fee, and may be under-tipped as a result. High fuel costs also complicate matters.
One of the real annoying things about this job is the fact that the evening shift starts at 5pm... The place is open until 2am... which equals 9 hours. The last time I did 9 hours was when I had an hour unpaid lunch break. But since we don't actually leave until 3am, that's actually 10 hours a night.. with no real breaks, lunch or otherwise. Plus getting to bed at 3am and waking up the next morning means little sleep. -_-;;;
I see why they needed me so badly. Last night we were so busy, with a dozen people in line and 20 orders at any given time, that some orders were 2 hours late getting there. I had to apologize "I just picked up the order 10 minutes ago!" They need a second store or something.
The ghettos around here don't seem bad yet. If I get shot for my $20 change, or because the pizza's 2 hours late... I'm sure you guys will not miss me.
-
I always give 2$ to the delivery guy. I didn't know you were supposed to tip 10%...I'm not giving 10% fuck that. The shit I order in that would be over 20$ is actually easier to carry than a pizza.

That's what I have been telling my mom that you have to tip them well because if you don't your pizza will get put behind other orders, behind others who are better tippers.
-
Plus, you guys start spitting in the pizza. Usually okay with me since I don't eat pizza, but every once in a while I'll nick a pepperoni or something.

God Reservoir Dogs was a great flick. I wish Tarantino's other flicks where as good. Course I've never seen Pulp Fiction.
-
The whole ear thing made me a tinge queasy. I thought it went on a bit too long. Everything else was all right. Seems to me that Tarantino always sticks something in there to ensure it's not a film I'd ever want to see over again.
-
At least he let the actual cutting happen off screen. Now days you'd actually see him lop off the ear.

This is going to be my official Pizza Delivery bitch thread. Where I discuss and whine about the wierd shit that goes on in my job. And hell, it's only been my first week and it's already been strange.
One of the houses I delivered to my first day was a lesbian couple.
Yesterday, I was picking up a pizza bag to put food into it and a giant shiny brown bug ran out of it. The manager really needs to get the Orkin man in there, because I've seen flies, dead insects, and now a live insect. I'm honestly thinking of buying him some insect traps. Nuri worked in food... did you ever find insects in the kitchen at LJS?
For some reason, none of the other drivers light up their car signs at night. I figured out how, but then the sign burned out that night. Knowing the manager he probably won't replace the bulb.
There's this one driver who always lets other people ride with him while delivering. The first two nights I was there, it was his gf/wife and their baby. Next night it was two friends. Dude, you're there to work, not fuck around. And then one night the dumbfuck ran out of gas. Hello, that's what the gas stations are for!
True Story:
One night I was delivering to an apartment complex, but many of the buildings didn't have address numbers. So I call up the customer and have her direct me to the building. I made a successful delivery and went back.
Cashier later tells me that there was a lady on the phone that claimed she didn't get her food and it's been 3 hours. She tells me the address, and I told her I had been there, and even had the lady direct me to the address over the phone. I wondered if the woman was crazy. I got on the phone, asked the lady if she remembered her directing me on the phone to her apartment. And that she remembered me giving her the food.
"Yes. Yes. I remember. But you gave me the wrong item."
There's a big difference between not getting anything for 3 hours, and getting the wrong item.
Mind you it was not my fault she had gotten the wrong item. See, they give each order a number and put the orders on a heated rack with a ticket that has name address phone and the order. The food is in boxes, and I have no idea what's in the boxes because I just look at the numbers, and I have no idea if all the food is there, which means occasionally people haven't gotten everything they ordered.
Add to that, occasionally some of the people with seniority (some drivers and cooks come to mind), in a hurry grab the boxes, shove them in my face, and tell me to take them as if I know where the address is. No time to chell the map either. Since then, before I take a delivery, I chell the Microsoft maps on our computer to make sure I know where it is (I HAVE gotten lost), I chell each box to make sure they're all there and every food item is correct. And to hell if they say it slows me down a bit, I don't want to make two fucking round trips to the same location.

You might wanna invest some time in spell chell too nigga. :D
(For a second I actually thought you were using a word I didn't know U_U)

You've been here so long and you haven't figured out that the word c.h.e.c.k is word filtered to chell?
-
Nope...I typed my chell on purpose.
test: chell chell chell
-
what the butt?
I take it this is some inside joke from before my arrival.
-
If it is...I don't get it. I'd just chalk it up to the Wild Wild World that is our Adm's mind.
-
I picked it up from Powet or somewhere.
-
I still haven't gotten an answer on the insects running rampid in the kitchen!
-
Yeah yeah, I guess. They were never a major problem though.
-
Nasty though. Makes me never want to eat at fast food again.
-
But you will. Bugs are everywhere. It's a fact of life.
-
On your Couch, in your bed, in IDE's pubes.....EVERYWHERE!
-
No not in my house!
-
In your room having bug-sex in your bed.
-
Why is IDE in my room and who is he with?!? I don't think this would sit well with His Excellency the Cat Lord.
-
I meant the bugs, not IDE. Unless he turns out to be a giant roach masquerading as a dude to, um, penetrate society I guess. So to speak. Whatever.
-
Oh that gross, but I am glad I do not have to burn my bed sheets after all.
-
I'd hold that thought.
-
My pubes were clipped off. All manner of wild life are probably on them now in an attempt to improve their virility for mating season.
-
what the butt?
I take it this is some inside joke from before my arrival.
Feel the powet, bitch.
-
Yes, feel it like a well-lubed finger up your ass.
-
I really should call my uncle.
-
Yes, feel it like a well-lubed finger up your ass.
I drove up to tallahassee to visit my 18 yr old. One night we stayed in and drank a bottle of wine. After which she attempted to stick her finger in my pooper. How many times is this going to happen? It's like my o-ring is the holy grail for barely legal teens.
-
Date some older chicks. They'd probably do it, too.

I think the actual ear lopping is on the DVD as a deleted scene. I have the DVD... I'll probably go watch it sometime. I didn't before, though, because it was the first time I had seen the movie and I didn't feel like watching the uncut scene.

Always figured that it never worked right when they shot it and thus why they cut away when he did it. That they couldn't cut the ear off and not make it look fake. The pan seemed so unnatural and out of place in the movie, that there had to be a reason for it. I mean I can't believe it was because it was too graphic in that movie. But I got the DVD too, so I'll chell as well but I don't think that is on my copy. Then again I don't have the ultra nice metal tin version that came out not to long ago. I have the first DVD release one.
-
Well.... that other thread makes this one look somewhat depressing. :raiseeyebrow:
-
There should be nothing depressing about a lubed finger.
-
An unlubed one, however.... :o
-
Just spit on it.
-
An unlubed one, however.... :o
With an unclipped, jagged fingernail?
-
Sound advice.
Just spit on it.
Sound advice.
-
Echo echo echo...
-
Damn you! >:( Can't you ever make any butt-flapping sense?
-
Made sense to me.
-
Well....

You're a deep subject.
