If the developers don't stop, it could make national news since the theater is located in the second oldest operating shopping/entertainment center in the US - gorgeous Art Deco construction for 3 blocks. But this is typical Houston. Nuri & Merla, have you been to the Majestic in SA? Its twin was here, built 5 years earlier in 1923 by the same architect. Torn down, of course. :angry: Considering I was completed in 1961, I try not to stand still too long in public. There might be a wrecking ball aimed at my head and a realtor running up to stick a lease sign in my twitching corpse.

The petition has 15,000 signatures since Saturday. If the cameras show up at any protests, I'll write "HI NURI!" on the back of my sign & wave it.

They want to tear down a theater...that is done in art deco style. Do they wish to destroy all the Rama holds dear? To destroy one of the vestiges of cinemas golden era, to wipe any memory of a movie houses of old before the time of cold efficient cow line viewing platforms with overpriced concessions. Indeed these are foul dastardly depraved deviants.

Reminds me of our local Theater. It was a nice little one screen set up, built in the 50s, and was still operating in the 80s. It was the place of a lot of my first movie experience, and now they've gutted and use it as a show room to sell memory foam mattress. BAH! When I'm rich, I'm going to buy the place and restore and make it one of those dollar theaters that show out of date movies. We don't have one of those and I think it'd do well here.

He was stillborne with the umbillical cord wrapped around his neck. I don't think Uncle Gilbert has ever gotten over the loss of his twin. The guy is so messed up. He's in his 40s and has never worked a day in his life. My grandfather refused to throw him out because it would upset my grandma. Now granfather is no longer with us and Uncle Gilbert has become my aunt's problem. My aunt, a retired social worker, also lives at the house. (Uncle David, the unemployed, educated bum with a BBA also lives there as well.) I don't know what's going to happen to him when my aunt dies.

Gilbert's mom also had one of the best death in cinema history. Exertion from being too fat to ascent a set of stairs... Bravo.

It certainly beat Big Mac's death in 'My Girl' by the whole fucking ballpark.
