I actually saw Land of the Dead Tuesday at 12:30 am. It was...passable. It wasn't like any of Romero's previous works in a bad way. It was very short, only 90 minutes, there was a horrible lack of characterization and character back story--it was just all too lame. Heck, there wasn't any reason as to why the zombie's in the middle of nowhere suddenly become "smart". Day of the Dead atleast explained that they could be taught... As for the social undertones, it wasn't anything that Day of the Dead already covered... The worst part of the film is the lack of Tom Savini's special effects...whoever Romero got to do his zombies for this film deserves a serious kick in the balls. Savini does make a cameo in the film though... Anyway, go see it if you're curious, but be prepared to be let down.
I get to go see War of the Worlds Monday night. I'll let you know how it is. In the mean time, avoid High Tension like the fucking plague. Worst film I've seen in a long time.
