Oh shit, they gave him his own hashtag.  Welp.  The only question here is how long he'll disappear.  Maybe he'll pull a Louis CK and slide his ass in too early but not enough people notice it so no one gives a shit.  If he's lucky.  Then again, these are anime fans so they might find something else to be butthurt about and leave him be.  :look:

I tried to make a post with an image of Vic's creepy leering face attached, but I somehow fucked it up, so I just removed the post. Full transparency!

I've heard all sorts of rumors of him hitting on teenage girls at cons, although with today's "everything's rape" culture I'm taking it with a grain of salt. Kissing people on their cheeks or forehead, like he admitted to, is a big no-no though.

And:
Quote
“Someone pointed me to a moment years ago where I was in a panel, and referred to a bunch of noise coming from another room jokingly as ‘a holocaust,’” he said. “As I said then, it was a metaphor ... Could I have chosen a different word? Sure, in retrospect I could have. And, of course, I am sorry that it offended anyone.”

Someone got offended about this? I've done worse in Cards Against Humanity.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I would cripple with my bare hands any grown-ass stranger who put his lips in any location upon my hypothetical daughter.

Oh, who am I kidding? I'm too old and out of shape to fight. I'd just shoot him.

Oppa Franco Style!

And why would someone refer to the a bunch of noise as a holocaust? Like, I wouldn't be offended, I'd just wonder if they were dropped on their head at some point in their lives. Like if someone threw a marble at my Jenga tower, I wouldn't be all "Who 9-11'ed my tower?" Or if someone cut into a watermelon I bought and put it in the fridge, I wouldn't ask "Who Dahmer'ed my melon, bro?" It's just a weird comparison to jump to. People who use "jokingly" and "holocaust" in the same sentence without being a shock-comic get the side-eye. And people who do so and then are le surprised by being called "anti-Semitic" are just clueless on how the world works. Read your crowd, Vic. Read your crowd.

Huh. "Who Dahmer'ed my melon," sounds like something I'd actually say.

I didn't realize how much the Vic thing had blown up. This one chick mentioned being raped by another va in a FB post about Vic and then Todd Haberkorn is all "yo, not me!" It's just all very weird. It's like... it's like...

Sort of on the same subject, though...who didn't know for thirty years that Michael Jackson was a sick freaking weirdo? And how many knew but loved him anyway? I guess it was the same thing with Mignogna...among those who actually give a crap, that is.

Anyway, I'm fixin' to watch the DBS Broly movie...which happens to star the Vic-ster. Is that enabling? Is it better or worse that I didn't pay for it (as I typically wait for physical media releases)?

I've been sick as a pig the past few days. At times, I could barely breathe and could only stay awake in short spurts... so during those spurts I did the only reasonable thing one would do in such a condition: I read a 130+ post thread of dirt on Vic and his creepy stans. There is a lot of serious over-reaction and a lack of understanding of how the world works. "But he didn reap no wun!!!1" He doesn't have to. If he's a creeper to co-workers and fans, he's a liability that has to go. There doesn't have to be court charges or le reaps for a company to cut someone loose. Welcome to the concept of at-will employment.

On the Broly movie I would say watch away: it's a Dragonball product not a Vic product.

Turns out the one I got wasn't dubbed which actually suits me just fine; nowadays it feels weird to watch an English-dubbed anime. But of the three DBS movies, it was the best of them. I'll say more in the anime thread. I just don't see Vic as Broly, however, so call it a dodged bullet.

But you're right: perception of wrong-doing doesn't have the severity of consequences as actual wrong-doing, but they are much higher than before. As you said, it's the way it works these days. And justifying yourself only makes it worse. Better to just shut up and course-correct while people still care: naturally he did the opposite.

In the era of #MeTouched, you quietly lawyer up immediately and get a PR person stat to do damage control. And for God's sake step away from social media. And it was obvious this wasn't done. He has a lawyer now but the guy reeks of skeeze. And Vic's screencapped egging his fans in his Discord to defend his honor. Oy vey. His VA career was too big and lucrative to have flubbed things up this badly. Even if he was innocent, he's made himself poison to anyone who wants to hire him.

I look at his thread on LC once in a while. His ex wife/gf now is coming out as saying " she didn't know" bitch please. No way you can be with this dude for YEARS and not know how much of a sleazebag he is.

There are also videos going around of him telling young girls the "let me drink it from your mouth" line from Ouran #smh #tamakidoesntdeservedis

I can't believe this shit's still going on. Vic's suing Monica Rial, her guy, another va, and Funi. Um, ok. And Funi's apparently owned by Sony now so Funi has Sony dollars to burn. I'm sure the Sony thing is old news but shows how much I follow the industry these days.

Huh, I didn't know the Sony deal. No wonder it blew up, because now there's real money at stake.

Here's the take of the Sphere's resident neanderthal: the guy's voice is annoying, but as I rarely watch English translations anymore it's a non-issue: thus he's irrelevant to me, so I have no reason to attack or defend him. But anyone who fawns over a voice actor at a convention to the point that they let them skeeve all over them is a God forsaken imbecile who shouldn't have been let out of the house by mommy or their court-assigned shrink. If the guy was doing shit to his peers and lording some semblance of authority or whatever over coworkers to suit his perverted purposes, why was nothing done about it? I just don't get the brou-ha-ha...sounds like he needed a good tending to after being such an asshole, but if it's more than just that (not saying it wasn't) where's the arrest record? Where're the affidavits? Where's the hospital report of an angry father/brother/boyfriend/husband who beat the shit out of him? Where's the cell footage of his public improprieties? Instead, we have online bitching, which makes me question the veracity and severity of the whole shebang (maybe a bad choice of words but anyway). It's not like he's a crime boss that everyone's scared to cross...he's a fucking cartoon voice actor.

I realize women are hesitant to do anything when stuff like this comes up. But that's how shit of this nature propagates, yet I'm not prepared to condemn and blackball someone when there's been nothing said or done that amounts to anything until very recently and hasn't been adjudicated. And I know that makes me merit my self-applied neanderthal label, but still. There's how things are and how they ought to be, and until people stand up for themselves and actually do something when they're being done wrong nothing will change. Whether it's an abusive spouse, an obsessive boy/girlfriend, an overbearing boss or coworker, or a creepy weeaboo seiyu.

I don't think Sony has Sony money to burn, at least their entertainment division doesn't. Really shocked that Fox sold to Disney before Sony's movie and TV division did.

Supposedly, Funi founder Gen Fukunaga liked the guy and this all began blowing up when Gen left as GM of Funi. Gen stepped down in the beginning of Feb of this year as General Manager and took on a different role and then everything about Vic almost immediately began exploding. Vic was also such a big draw at cons that it was easier to look the other way and rake in the con-bucks. These are just assumptions on what I've read but I think it jives.

I don't think there's enough evidence or whatever to support that Vic should get thrown in jail or anything but I do believe he's at least a creep. It's not illegal to be a creeper nor is it something most people are just gonna whip out their cell phone to capture. Now, whether it's because of the Gen thing, the flood gates opening from MeToo, or whatever the circumstances, people feel freer to talk about their experiences. This honestly doesn't surprise me one bit that it's only coming out now.

I was harassed at my bookstore job way back when. Fighting shit like this was giant stressful pain in the ass. All I had was my word. Even if I had a cell phone back then, how was I supposed to record that creeper cornering me in the stock room at random times? It's not like he did it in front of others. And don't see what the police or any other authority would've done for me. I wouldn't be surprised if he did similar stuff to other young ladies, but I wasn't gonna swap stories about it because I just wanted the entire situation bleached from my brain. I did speak to HR and gave a five-page written statement. Other people believed me but it didn't really mean shit other than beginning a paper trail on the guy. Leaving that menial job was just easier for me. I would imagine if I had a sweet voice actor job instead (where a lot of people want in and I can be easily replaced), I wouldn't want some primadonna handsy freak ruining it for me. Especially if he was friendly with the company founder. If people wanted to keep their jobs that badly, I could see them grinning and bearing it. My harasser only got canned a few months after I left because he was also a thief and couldn't keep his hands out of the till. The company didn't give a shit that he was a creep, too.

Since Funi did an internal investigation, I wonder if they found stuff they couldn't ignore. But it also could've been that it wasn't until the investigation that Funi realized how widespread the problem was.

I don't think Sony has Sony money to burn, at least their entertainment division doesn't. Really shocked that Fox sold to Disney before Sony's movie and TV division did.

I would say tho' certainly more money than if this was just Funi standing alone.

That's probably true. But I guess were as Funimation would be willing to invest big bucks in it because it is there bread and butter, Sony might see it as a unneeded expense considering how much money they have lost lately. Although I'm sure the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Venom has given them some confidence back...although in the case of Homecoming that had little to nothing to do with Sony.

It might also be a matter of preventing setting a precedent. If they cave to Vic, it might leave them starting from a disadvantageous position from the start with the next guy.

So... this is still a thing: Vic Bologna suing people for calling him a creeper or whatev.  Of the four defendants, one got her case completely dismissed.  A bunch of the other, um, "counts" of whatever you call them that Vic had against Funi and the other defendants also got dismissed.  Judge tried ordering mediation between all parties to put this shit to bed but nothing came of it.  Judge is supposed to rule tomorrow on the remaining part of Vic's suit.  Vic's gonna get slapped with sanctions for filing a frivolous suit, not to mention the defendants' legal fess.  Because he not only filed a stupid suit, but he did it in a Texas court.  (Our state laws are strong on this kinda thing.)  And he had to go do this against four different defendants at the same time.  Good gravy.

The judge dismissed all remaining charges on Friday. Still unknown is how much $$$ Vic's on the hook for. Apparently he's rich so it doesn't matter?  I dunno. And Chuck Huber also oddly appears to have involved himself in this shit-show and poorly tried to mediate and help Vic. MEH.

I watched a video today about Funimation that had some valid points regarding the company's handling of properties but then turned into a pro-Vig tirade. It was honestly painful to watch because it was clearly half-researched and from a position of clear bias on what a great guy Bologna is.

At one point, the commentator brings up the lawsuit and how it was unfair Funi got Vic to pay legal fees. And it's like, dude, Vic brought up the case and had failed his burden of proof. Vic's the one that made this a legal thing to begin with. He brought it to court himself. And the case isn't about him being innocent or guilty, it's about whether the defendants (Funi et al.) are basically guilty of defamation against Vic. His legal counsel was so poor and ill-equipped that it became a joke in the law Twitter community. Law Twitter would post the publicly available legal documents and point out all the mistakes.

I think it was okay to bring up the situation in the video and talk about the handling of the situation from the company perspective (in terms of their supposed internal investigation, their statements on the matter, and the subsequent firing) but jumping around to the court case he didn't research and then talking about how this good, kind man can't be guilty had nothing to do with the topic at hand.
