So, uh, Mallrats 2?
« on: Mar 25, 2015, 05:39:53 PM »
News has been floating around about a week or so now but I felt like posting something anyway.

It's about fifteen years overdue and about fourteen years too long for me to care.  I bet it's going to have some plotline involving the mall closing.  Because malls are doing that now.

I actually talked to Michael Rooker (Mr. Sevening) about this at Planet Con and dude lied to my face yo!

He Said...and I quote: "Kevin Smith Can't Afford me. (me: Come on...we need Mr. Sevening back!) Anything can happen. You never know. Maybe Kevin Smith can pay me in sexual favors!"

Now two days later Kevin Smith got on Twitter and said Rooker was on board as a returning. Could be they made that deal after I talked to me or if he had a NDA or what, but come on man! Two days after he said that it was disproven.

Anyway....I'll see how Clerks 3 turns out and if it is good then I'll get excited for Mallrats 2.

Maybe Michael Rooker was informed by time-traveling Michael Rooker from the future to not tell you.  And telling you would've caused a rift in the time space continuum.

Never saw Mallrats 1. Kevin Smith movies are just not something I get.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I thought the first Clerks movie was very funny and the second one was ok too.
Other than that I'm not a huge fan of Smith either

I liked his stuff better when I was younger and fogied myself out of them when I got older.  Yes, I used "fogey" as a verb.  I don't know how else to describe it.  But I still dig Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.  I've shunned everything past Clerks II.  But that's because none of it has interested me plot-wise or actor-wise, not because of Smith himself.

Also, I still miss dead Kevin Smith.  Dammit, that was a handsome man.  Dude, why did you climb that tower in China?  And you fell "several stories."  Ugh, le pain.  I like to think he would've had a Karl Urban-type career if he hadn't died because I think he had the chops for it.  I compare him to Karl Urban because Karl Urban also came out in Xena.  Just saying in case some of you didn't know or something.

He would've been hot old, too, though.  Like a less gay Clooney.

So he'd have made flops like Almost Human and Dredd?

Nah...I like Karl Urban.

Actually, when I said "Karl Urban-type career," I did mean the good with the bad: Maybe a role somewhere in strong franchise, lots of lesser-known work, and a nice group of fans and some recognition but not necessarily a huge amount of popularity or acclaim or box office success with the majority of his roles.

Now I'm sad because there'll never be a Dredd 2.

That was my immediate thought as well. Like, they're stuck in the mall on the busiest weekend of the year with their miserable hellspawn in tow. The movie poster is Jason Lee looking flabbergasted with a kid under one arm, another one held by the scruff of the neck, and a third doghumping his leg. Bonus points for Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes lurking in the background looking haggard and burnt out as fuck.

Hollywood give me a job.

^ Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, too.  Either that or they'll be a bunch of hip, horny teenagers (Mallrats: TNG) fighting to save their mall from being closed down with the help of Jay and SB.  And some of the characters from Mallrats--the parents--will be all "kids these days, amirite" as they reside in their beautiful houses, own the latest gadgets, and drive fancy SUVs despite the majority of Mallrats characters telegraphing shitty futures on food stamps.

Now, when you say "flops" and "Dredd" in the same sentence you mean that abomination with Stallone, right?
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

That one was a flop for sure, and deservedly so. But despite being a really good movie, the new Dredd was also a commercial failure.

But...but...It was always suppose to be Die Hard in a Mall.

And not like Paul Blart either. Can't believe I have actually seen that to know that it is just Die Hard in a Mall.

I think I've seen Mallrats, but if I did I completely don't remember it. But I don't care for Kevin Smith's crap that I do remember, so it's for the best. I wish I could unremember stuff selectively.

Word.

Cant understand why Clerks is seen as a "cult" film. Only funny part is the 37 dicks one.
