Does Merla like owls?
My friend has a friend who likes owls, may be they are the same person.
Probably not, though. Merla lives in Texas somewhere, I think, and my friend's friend lives in one of those states that starts with an 'I'.
So happy birthday, you.

Speaking of owls, I was chatting with some folks the other night and we determined that owls are the third coolest birds one could have as a pet behind falcons and ravens.

Oh, and Happy Birthday, lady.

Yeah, owls are a thing lately.  I see them everywhere now.  Especially at Target.  I even find myself buying owl stuff because they remind me of Merla.  At my mom's job, she saw a parent who had owl shit for her kid.  And my mom was all "oh, how cute, my daughter loves owls and she'd like that" and the parent got all haughty "well, owls have been my daughter's theme since before she was born blah blah".  Quit tryin' to be in the cool club, you chose the owls yourself; your kid didn't, she could hate owls later.  Merla chose owls herself when she was like 3 and she never deviated to anything else in all that time.  She liked owls before owls were cool, like for over 30 years in the fuckin' 70's and shit where you had to be a duck in bell bottoms to be a bird that got decent work.

So yeah, Target.  You can find shitloads of owls there now.

Yeah I saw a bunch in in Pier one when I was looking over their Halloween stuff (seems to be the only time I go in there) and I was like "What is with all this owl stuff." So i figured it had to be trending. Course the flip side of everyone jumping on something you always liked, is that now the stuff is a lot easier to find and you don't have to search all over the place for it.

What a fucking bitch. Why is it okay for people to be all haughty about stuff they liked 'before' other people? When I like something, I think I'd prefer to say, "LOOK AT THIS THING BECAUSE YOU MIGHT LIKE IT TOO."

Except for with music, because when people start liking my music, the artists tend to get shitty for some reason.

This is what I think about when I hear about owls:
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Yeah, I know, right?  It wasn't a contest.  Even if it was, she'd still lose.  Imo, it doesn't count if the parent chooses what the kid's supposed to like.  And owls are a trend right now, so it wasn't even an original choice.  She just had to go to Target and pick out the bedding, lamps, and the other shit.

Oh, it's a real story.  Schmoo works in child care so she meets people like that all time.  So here's another one for you:  This parent wants her kid to have 6 oz of breast milk.  6 oz, exact.  A human being with half a brain would write down how much milk they wanted given to their kid on the sheet they're provided in the morning or measure it out into the bottle or bottles so there can be no mistake in giving the kid the right amount.  This parent refuses to do either.  And when Schmoo called her on it, the dumb parent bitches to the supervisor.  Huh?  Measure your own fuckin' milk or write it the fuck down.  Your kid isn't the only one there and multiple people are taking care of the kid.  They need clear instructions.  So the next day, the parent scrawls it in huge letters 6 OUNCES on the paper because she's a fuckin' bitch.

Schmoo is Beck and Merla's mom. Still not sure how that is pronounced since I don't think I've ever heard it said, just written.

Nope.  The design is cute, but that brown finish's looking a little... poopesque.

Kinda like they do for The Shmoo! but they do more of a "shhhh" than we do:

I don't like it either but it's a good way of keeping communication with people you don't generally see
