That's a java applet that logs onto an IRC server. Those things tend to suck really badly.

We could always just create a room on IRC and chat there. The internet newbies in here who don't know what IRC is would need a client, but if you have Trillian it lets you log into IRC.

Edit: Java seems to work fine for me. a real IRC program works much better though. the server's irc.ircchat.tv, and you CAN get onto it using an IRC program like mIRC or Trillian.
