I think the poles are moving.

I remember hearing about this once, the possibility that the arctic and antarctic poles will shift to a new position (more so than from the earthqueake).  So, maybe, all these storms and strange events are just leading up to the poles shifting, and our compasses ceasing to work as we know them.

Uh-oh, better go stand on a street corner with a cardboard sign that says "THE END IS NEAR."

The poles always move.

The earth wobbles and poles move in a circle every 2000 years, didn't you know?
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

they have been talking about that in the news for like 2 days now. And yeah, it seems like the earthquake moved the poles.

I almost wish it would happen.  Closer to reality, as of July, the seceenplay is allegedly being written, but I've heard that before.  Wish they had gotten off the stick when Danny Elfman was younger & talked him into playing Rorschach.

I my copy up here at work for those especially-frustrating days.  :P

I like the other, more elegant explanation to explain earthquakes and tsunamis:   "shit happens".

Being that the core of this planet is LIQUID METAL, it's not a huge stretch of imagination that the poles shift from time to time.  But there is no sign of an imminent catastrophic shift.

[Scientists]'ve also learned what happens during a magnetic flip. Reversals take a few thousand years to complete, and during that time--contrary to popular belief--the magnetic field does not vanish. "It just gets more complicated," says Glatzmaier. Magnetic lines of force near Earth's surface become twisted and tangled, and magnetic poles pop up in unaccustomed places. A south magnetic pole might emerge over Africa, for instance, or a north pole over Tahiti. Weird. But it's still a planetary magnetic field, and it still protects us from space radiation and solar storms.
Weather shouldn't be affected since it's a gradual process.a problem, much less tectonic stresses, which are even less related to the magnetic field.

I almost bought a compass for my car.
The wife forgave the mistress for she only entertained.

It's a rip-off.  Buy one now and 50 years later it could be pointing toward the other side of Canada....
