yeah, i wanna see max if one day one of the people he cares about have an accident or something goes wrong, he would be on his knees praying like there's no tomorrow
Why would I be praying to something that doesn't exist?

My point is that not everyone falls on their knees when something goes wrong.  I have faced many tradgedies in my lifetime and have never called upon "God".

I do believe in the possibility of God, however if he does exist and we are somehow indeed modeled after him, than he probably think like us.  Humans are creators and as creators we do not generally stop our business to change small things that have no effect on the universe.  Humans tend to only care for their own skins,  the being we would be modeled after him, he would probably only do the same.  While we do watch over family, he has done nothing to show his existance.  With all the suffering, hate and disease in the world, it is evident that if God exists, he is not a nuturing or loving being...

So , why call on him?  Why not call on yourself and your own strengh?  Shouldn't that be the basis of faith?  Faith in yourself?

I celebrate Giftmas!

It just happens to be on the same day as Christmas.

I am not an Athiest, I am an Agnostic.  I believe in the possibility of a God or Gods, as well as purgatory and damnation and I've witnessed ghosts on a first hand basis.  Don't just assume that all people are the same just because they question "higher powers".  No Christian will admit that they've questioned the existance of God, but you all do; that's what drove me to drop religion.  Don't accuse me of using Christmas as an excuse to get presents either;  Christmas and 4th of July are the only real times I get to spend with my family as a whole.  So regardless of what I believe, don't accuse me of bastardising a holiday I atleast have respect for, unlike many.

http://www.faqfarm.com/Holiday/Christmas/3989

a true fact for Faye

Quote
Contrary to popular belief, Jesus wasn't born December 25th, he was born on January 7th. The Orthodox Christian church still celebrates x-mas on January 7th.
Christmas was moved to December 25th to coincide with a pagan holiday. This got more pagans to celebrate Jesus' birthday. This move was one of the reasons why the church split in 1043. It was then that the Pope went to Rome and the Patriarch of the Orthodox church went to Constantinopole.

Did you ever ask yourself why you have a x-mas tree and what it has to do with Jesus' birth? Well, now you know that it is a remnant of an old pagan tradition of worshipping trees.

Easter is another Christian holiday that changed dates to coincide with a pagan fertility holiday. This is why you paint eggs for Easter and celebrate little bunnies, whose procreation and fertility powers are known to all.

But why, I hear you cry, don't we celebrate Jesus' birthday on January 1st, isn't that the point? Well, yes, but in the old times, we didn't know about leap years and such secular phenomana, we used to burn people who thought that the earth was round, so the counting of days got a little scewed up. We fixed it up later. Don't have much more time to write. But this is it in a nutshell.

so what?
scientists also say Jesus was actually born on the year 4 b.c. but whenever year or day Jesus was born, that doesn't change that they use that same day as an excuse to give/receive gifts

Ditto, I've already agreed that next year my siblings and I don't exchange gifts.  I'm tired of feeling obliged to spend money on people that I'd be better off saving.  That would be a far better gift than some useless trinket or a shirt that doesn't fit.

My manager at work is a pagan of some sort and I was asking her question after question about her religion, and she said a lot along the lines of what toe posted.

How'd we go from presents to trashing Christianity?

Anyway, I got tons of stuff I didn't really need but appreciated it anyway.  But I did get a really nice glass-doored bookshelf that I plan on using for DVD storage.

I also got a corduroy-looking sport coat.  Warm AND stylish!  It was really good for wearing to church yesterday to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as it was cold as all get-out (in MS, even).  Even if the actual day is contested (I've always heard it should be in February), it's still a far better reason to celebrate than the other crap the holiday is known for.

Just thought I'd get back on topic :P
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

my mistake, i should have said my mssg is for people who are christians and still the only thing they think about in x mas are the presents. oh, and for the people who ""celebrate"" it even if they are not christians(by celebrate i mean give and receive the presents. thats worse)

Nothing but video games? Do you ever go out and see the sun? Or are you fattening your ass up by spending your entire life in front of a video game?

I'm shocked at some people who get nothing but DVDs and video games for christmas. I've wondered why most hardcore gamers are fat asses, and I've figured it out... all you fuckers do is sit around for 48+ hours, drinking Mountain Dew so you'll stay awake to play video games. You're as bad as my brother, he does nothing all day but watch movies or attach himself to his computer/consoles, and he's starting to fatten up. Read a fucking book or something.

Might help. You never use correct grammar, you never use proper punctuation, and you never capitalize the beginning of your sentences. You type like a 13 year-old.

I don't think anyone actually knows the TRUE date of Jesus's birth, record keeping back then kinda sucked. But the rest of that stuff about pegan holidays and stuff is true.

You'd like that, but Star Trek is just lame.  As far as movie replicas go, I've got Master Replica's Darth Vader Lightsaber if you care that much.

Well, probably all Doug has is waiting for convention dates and fucking fat chicks dressed like Borg for three minutes at a crusty Howard Johnson's hotel.  THENNN, he'll make a big to-do about Marrying her and they'll have this big old Star Trek themed wedding outside of a McDonalds in New Hampshire...  And next thing you know, she'll be on this board screaming and crying every time we make fun of Doug or say something that's "not Christian."

Eddie & I honestly have more fun getting each other unexpected presents during the year than on occasions when giving presents is expected.   Besides, he can never wait.  He got me some gorgeous moonstone chandelier earrings and gave them to me on the 18th, I think.  :P  We're getting a Bowflex in January after we finish redoing the computer room, so that's our big "present".

My best present this year was having enough vacation left to take the 3 days before Xmas (office closed the 24th & 25th). :D

Zero, stop imposing your twisted fantasies onto me.

Gifts:

- St*r WarzzZZ DVD set... My uncle got me the full screen, and I politely asked him if he could return it for widescreen. he thought I was insane for asking for widescreen, as he seems to think widescreen sucks. Am I crazy for wanting the widescreen version?

- Back to the Future DVDs. I'm not as big of a fan as Rama, but it's nice to have this anyway.

- A matress set from my mother to replace the sagging ones in my room.

- A new bedsheet

- $20 Giftcard for Hollywood video

- 50 CD-R spindle

- Some car repair tools from another uncle

- A LotR calendar

- Some food and candy stuffs

- $20, $35 chell, $50 chell, $100 chell, and get this.... a $500 chell from my great-grandparents.

I didn't get much that I wanted, but with all the money I got and the holiday paycheck on friday, I'll be able to buy anything I wanted.. except maybe that new car I want.

No, you're not crazy.  My mom got me the fullscreen version as well, which I was allowed to exchange.  My outlook on widescreen is that 1.) you're getting the full picture, full screen is an even more edited version of the film and 2.) with widescreen televisions becoming cheaper and more common, it only makes sense to buy widescreen.  If you ever convert to an HDTV, most of which ARE widescreen, you'll only appreciate your DVDs more--full screen DVDs you'll appreciate less.

Oh and full screen = ghey.  They shouldn't even call it full screen because it does make it sound like you're getting more when you're getting less.  They should stick with "pan and scan".  Sounds more honest.

As for the "X" I think it's supposed to represent a leaning cross.  I guess lower-case "t"-mas doesn't sound good to anyone but Mr. T.

As for full screen, I like to refer to it as "fools-screen".
