I didn't forget it was there but I'm not watching Marvel-anything.  Marvel can bite me.  I never even watched DD or JJ.

I really think you'd like it. It's absolutely bursting with blacks. Like, practically everyone is black. There are also a few Hispanic and/or Latino people. I've only noticed a single white so far. He will henceforth be referred to as the token white.

I've only watched two episodes, so this could change.

I watched Daredevil, but not Jessica Jones yet...watching Netflix shows is complicated by the fact that I don't have Netflix. BTW, who the hell is Jessica Jones? I'm not familiar enough with the Marvel U to know who's who outside the code names of the big boys and those in the movies. However, I am familiar with Luke Cage for this if no other reason:

Jessica Jones was a character Brian Michael Bendis retconned into the MU back in 2001 in her own book called Alias. She worked as a private investigator, usually taking jobs from more established MU characters, but in a gritty, pulpy, noirish fashion that made all the typical fantastical comic book shit seem a little more grounded. As she was working these jobs in the present, the story would sometimes delve into her tragic past as a failed costumed hero.

Anyway, everybody loved Alias, and when it ended Marvel tried to keep Jessica relevant by shoehorning her into other shit by having her marry Luke Cage and have his kid, etc. A lot of people are now pissed about her recent treatment, as she's mostly used in stories as Luke's nagging wife, as opposed to being the strong protagonist she was originally.

And then they made a show about her!

Like two seasons behind on Family Guy. Watched an episode last night. Think I might have smiled once. But it was just fucked.

Stewie used Brian's DNA to impregnate himself, then gave birth to these horrible man/dog hybrids. A few of them died, and the rest they offloaded to some animal shelter. Awful.

It was gross. I feel gross again just relating the information.

Yeah, that show got seriously fucked up a long time ago.  It makes me mad that money and resources get wasted to make that tripe instead of something original and fresh.

Started watching Gotham on Netflix the other week. It's actually pretty decent. Or maybe I'm just bored.

Also, Westworld, although I'm a week behind. Not sure why, it's just that I started a week late, and I feel weird watching two episodes back to back in order to get caught up.

The first half of Gotham season 1 blew. I hacked my brother off  when I quit watching it around episode 14...he doesn't watch the other comic shows and has nobody else to talk about it with. He tells me that it was slow up until about episode 17 and then got pretty good. My thinking is, sorry, but I already wasted around 11 hours watching crappy episodes, so I was more than fair in giving it a chance. Granted the first season of Arrow was ass until around that same time, too.

I've been watching a shitload of Mayday or whatever that show's called.  It's got like three or four different titles and is about plane crashes.  Makes me feel super living so close to an airport.

I just finished watching Jessica Jones last week. What a waste of a decent premise. It would have been much better not to mention far more satisfying if it was half as long. I don't think I'm going to bother with any more Marvel shows on Netflix, and Agents of SHIELD is really bugging me this year...it's about time for me to drop it.

Was it all stretched out or did something happen at the end where it would've been better cutting it off before that point?  Just curious.

I've been watching a bunch of various true crime shows.  Which I told myself I'd stop doing because they make me paranoid but it's an addiction, I guess.  I've also been bingeing a bunch of Japanology and Japanology Plus on YouTube, which is a show that picks a topic about Japan and showcases it for a half an hour.  So, like, matcha, pickled food, uniforms, breakfast etc.  They had one on weight loss.  And the show was all (paraphrasing here) "the Japanese are obsessed with weight-loss even though they're so smol.  They're not tubbo like 'muricans, who don't take weight loss as seriously as the Japanese."  So... uh, maybe that's why.  Just a guess.

No, the ending was fine...probably the best part of the whole show.

But it took three episodes before you even got a look at Kilgrave (David Tennant), and the whole middle part of the story drug interminably with a subplot that went nowhere with the brainwashed cop who tried to kill and then started screwing Jessica's friend/sister. He wound up getting blown up, revitalized by his old unit doctor who works for a shady organization dabbling with human enhancement, going six different kinds of crazy, and then carted off with very little explanation. I'm sure that'll will wind up being the main thrust of season 2 if there is one, since it turns out that Jessica seems to have gotten her powers from the same shady organization.

Then there was a criminal disuse of Luke Cage through most of it, but I think the main reason he was there was for the introduction for his own show, which I haven't yet seen but based on how I felt about this I may not ever even try it out.

Luke Cage plays out very similarly as far as pacing goes. There's kind of a tonal shift at the halfway point that I'm still not sure about. Well, I'm fairly certain I didn't care for where the show ended up. Too hokey by far.

Sorta sounds like those Marvel Netflix shows are suffering narratively under those standard episode counts.  They should just focus on multiple-episode stories to fill up the running time of the 13 episodes.  Kinda like how Sherlock has three movie-like episodes a season or whatever.  It might be a better format for them to do mini-movies or a mini-series style format.

None of the Daredevil episodes ever felt like filler, as I recall. JJ and LC definitely had their fair share, however.

Daredevil had actual plotting...every episode was satisfying on some level. Granted, the second season was basically bifurcated with Punisher on the front side and Elektra on the back, but it didn't feel like a waste of time watching each installment.

Yeah, I think JJ and LC's unevenness is probably mitigated by the watch-when-you-like nature of Netflix. If those shows had aired one-a-week, I feel a lot of the episodes would have been highly criticized for their go-nowhere bullshit.

Amefuto sounds like a new category of Japornimation.

I used to like Dallas when I was a kid. The only reason I care about them now is because Dak's an MSU grad and may go down as the greatest Bulldog.

The only reason I care about them now is because I live in their state and it's actually been ingrained in my head through decades of extensive Texan brainwashing.  Just like how I'm supposed to feign craps for the SA Sperms even though I care even less about basketball.

Ugh, basketball. Good Lord, that crap goes on as long as baseball. Grah.

I say that like it's the sport itself, but I think the ego thing is what kills most sports for me. I think that's why I always liked watching high school basketball way more than college, which in turn I like better than professional sports.

Though I still hate baseball in all forms.
