Looking up Terrence Howard, I stumbled upon this silly MTV Movies blog entry:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/07/29/bryce-dallas-howard-youre-not-alone-here-are-five-other-re-cast-roles/

Apparently, one of the bad vamps from Twilight is being replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard in the third flick.  Anyway, it talks about other film replacements.

Maggie's Rachel Dawes was sickly little mess, so I don't think it's a good example at all.  Hardly an "upgrade".  Michael Gambon is an excellent actor, but Richard Harris was a far better Dumbledore.  Hardly the "definitive version".

All the "Batmen" aren't a good example either IMO.  It would've been an example if Bale had been replaced in the second film like Katie Holmes was.  Maybe when we went from Michael Keaton to Val Kilmer to George Clooney.  But they include earlier Batman actors and Bale in this.  Bale's Batman movies are a fresh take and in that vein, Bale has never been replaced nor actually replaced anyone.  You can't argue Bale replaced George Clooney when Bale's films are a reboot and came eight years later.

It also lists Terrence Howard being replaced, which is stupid because Iron Man 2 isn't even out yet.  I doubt Don Cheadle would fuck it up, but it's definetely not "proof enough that [Bryce Dallas] Howard's upcoming gig might work out for the best."

I remember Basil Rathbone because he has a cool name, and I've heard it before somewhere.

I don't know if it's true or not, but if so, that's fucking stupid.  Not as stupid though as

I heard they arn't sending the movie out for review by critics. A surefire sign that they know they have a stinkburger on their hands and don't want bad press to effect opening wekend ticket sales.

I think the press release said something about letting the audience decide or some bullshit like that.  I personally don't see what difference it would possibly make.  The target audience doesn't let mainstream reviews dictate squat.  These are the same people who made Transformers 2 a summer hit.

Yeah, let the audience decide!  That way, if they think it's shit, you've already got their buXors.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

What I always love is the classic forum arguement. "Well you can't judge it till you see it" which when I do and I think it's shit is always followed by "Then why did you pay to go see it" by the very same people.

Which I agree is a load of crap.  I've wasted so much money on theatical showings of crummy movies that I'm hesitant to ever go even when I hear good reviews.  That's partly why I never saw the new Star Trek...I put it off a few weeks to determine if the reviews I heard stuck after a few weeks (you know people will say crap is good immediately after they see it, but change their minds upon second viewings or after they think about it for a bit), and then I tried getting a crew up to see it but nobody could take off to see it when I could.

I still haven't seen that yet.  I figure it's just LOST combined with Star Trek, which doesn't encourage me very much.

I always judge shit before I see it.  I do it with the understanding that sometimes I'm wrong but 90% of the time, I'm right.  And a bunch of it is common sense.  I don't need to see the other 3 Fast and Furious movies to know I'll hate them when I already saw the first one and hated it.  And movies with certain actors have an inevitable amount of hate that comes with it.

I would never follow up with "why did you pay?"

If anything I encourage you to steal said property or see it gratis anyway you can.

Unless I'm in it.  Then you better pony up some dough.  Cause artists rights and all that shit

Yes I'd consider it revenge on my behalf for not receiving a bigger part.

Holy cow, I saw this movie on SciFi--I mean, SyFy  ::)--called "Ice Spider" or something.  It had some of the worse actors of all time.  Especially the male lead.  I died a little inside everytime he opened his stupid fucking mouth.  You must save us from these people.

And I'm sure it was proudly tagged as "The SyFy original movie Ice Spiders " too.
