YEA!!  Gold and Silver medals in Women's Gymnastics!!!!

The commentators were noting that the Chinese gymnasts kept on getting scores significantly better than they should have been, but stopped short of actually saying the Chinese were up to something (if they did, they probably would have disappeared). But the US still won. Take that you commies!

Also, I'm starting to think this Phelps thing is a bit predicable. It's almost like we know he's going to win anyway. If he's doping or drugging to make himself better I'll feel betrayed but if he's clean I'm amazed at his almost superhuman ability. Next thing he'll do is whip off his mask and reveal he's Aquaman.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

They've been judging things kinda wonky.  Like the women's vault.  That Chinese chick totally fucked up her second vault and she still beat out our American for the bronze.  Like Bela said, total rip-off.

Did the US get 100 medals yet?

I like it when some wherethehell little country like Chad comes out of nowhere and wins something.   Afghanistan won its first medal - good for them.  :)

ditto. I'm laughing because Japan is like sixth despite having a huge number of athletes. Too bad drawing images that make me question our species doesn't have an event.

Latvia won men's BMX.  That made me laugh a little.

Man, the beach volleyball finals were great.  First, May/Walsh had two close sets with the Chinese and Dalhausser/Rogers was even more tense, with the Brazilians winning the second set before the USA put them away.  Awesome games.

And this whole He Kexin thing that's popping up about her.... Some people want it to just go away, but a cheater's a cheater.  We see Chinese women; they're there at the medal ceremonies.  That's what women look like.  You want us to believe some of those children are 16?  Pfft.

HA!  Shoot to score on the ceremony chicks.  It's not just physical size/height that's suspect, it's the little kid faces they have.

I've been noticing a lot of third world countries having athletes that don't look like they're from those countries, for instance a lot of black people representing Cuba, and lots of white people representing African nations. I just read an article by the famous Detroit sports columnist Mitch Albom saying that some countries actually HIRE athletes from developed countries like the US. That's some sad ass shit.

And this whole He Kexin thing that's popping up about her.... Some people want it to just go away, but a cheater's a cheater.  We see Chinese women; they're there at the medal ceremonies.  That's what women look like.  You want us to believe some of those children are 16?  Pfft.

There's now an investigation into the ages of the Chinese Gymnasts. And from last Sunday's newspaper:

Quote from: Detroit Free Press
Why are people suspicious that some of the Chinese gymnasts aren't as old as they're supposed to be?
A) 16? They look closer to 10.
B) Their Olympic dream? To meet the Jonas Brothers.
C) They're begging to see "The Dark Knight" at the AMC Beijing, but some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
D) They do their floor exercises to Hannah Montana.

I caught the BMX finals, but the races were too damn short. Each race is like a minute long. "And they're off... and it's over!" Would it hurt them to race in a circle like NASCAR for several laps?

At work today I saw some Olympic Handball. It's on a baskeball court with soccer nets and a volleyball, and you can dribble or throw the ball to get it into the net. It's about the dumbest sport I've ever seen.

I'm waiting to see some TaiKwonDo and some Olympic Table Tennis. Who ever knew ping-pong would be an olympic sport. Where's Christopher Walken when you need him?
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

If they had just taken my advice and shipped you to China, this would've been over by now.

Man, I thought that closing ceremony would never end.  Shit, I watched that whole thing.

Best quote so far now that the journalistic gloves are off:

Quote
London will be constrained in that they will have an actual budget and can't haul in a thousand workers from the countryside, force them to build buildings and then send them back again
