They're basically the only sporting event I'll watch, but that's because these people are the best in the freaking world. I mean, it's the Olympics! It's the only time when the world gets together to beat each other for medals.

Did anyone catch the opening ceremonies? Holy fuck, the Chinese invented fireworks so they weren't messing around. My favorite were the 2,008 drummers with the light up drums that did the countdown. They were so synchronized it was almost frightening.

BTW: Women's US team pwned in fencing. All 3 medals!

Last night me and Kary were in awe, and she was glad they didn't skip over Puerto Rico, though they did cut them off quickly.

I freaking loved the opening ceremonies. I had too pee so badly in the middle of it, but there was no way I was leaving the room.

I was out when they showed fencing, which made me sad. I was looking forward to it so much. But they made up for it by letting me watch the male gymnasts' butts off and on all night. <3

When I got into work, the manager had the TV tuned into the Cubs game. But when he left for a break (he had been serving on lunch and was coming back for a private party at dinner) I immediately switched to NBC and nobody said anything. Everyone in the restaurant was glued to the set during the men's 400M freestyle to see how Phelps would do (he won, by the way). I even told a table of mine who was watching the TV as I took their appetizer to them, "Ugh, I don't even want to serve food, I want to watch the Olympics!" They thought it was funny, and I figured they would.

Like I said, I don't even care for sports in general but this only happens every four years. I regretted not watching as much as I wanted to for the Atlanta ones in '04.

Male gymnasts = Teh win!

I missed seeing it live, but I'm watching the opening ceremony now and, wow, that was a pretty amazing. The tai chi demonstration was pretty breathtaking. I think the cutest part was the little girl suspended in the air, being pulled along by the kite. And wow, the fireworks.

I think it's safe to say that, when not at work or sleeping, I'll be at least half-watching whatever they're showing on TV. I love the Olympics. It's always exciting seeing these athletes that have been training their hearts out for years get to compete on such a huge stage for their country. It doesn't matter if it's the U.S. or Uzbekiztan on the podium, I just love seeing the competition.

(Also, there's always plenty of lovely ladies from around the world with smoking hot bodies to look at. Like the German women's beach volleyball team. Yummy.)

Viagra isn't considered a banned substance, so a number of participants are taking it. Maybe Michael Phelps did so well because he had a rudder.

Makes one wonder if the men's gymnastic judges are putting up scores or guesses.

The drummers were awesome.

What I found funny about the Fencing is that I caught it during the last match, and the woman who won gold would make this primal scream every time she hit the other opponent. And then when she scored the winning hit, she was all like 'ARRRRRGGG!!!!'

See, at least you girls can drool at male gymnastic butt, because most male gymnasts are over 18. I'm thinking that women's gymnastics is run by pedos because the median age there is like 14. It's not even fair.

Oh well, there's always women's beach volleyball, where every year the clothing gets even skimpier.

I haven't seen much of the Olympics but I caught some women's swim where the British chick beat Katie Hoff and that men's relay swim. The one where the French were all "we will crush you" and then our guy touched the wall .08 of a second before their's.

I happened to miss that moment by .08 seconds myself. I changed the channel for five minutes and came back to see them cheering and the announcer going "OMFG THAT WAS AWESOME!!" Of course, as soon as I turn away something amazing happens.

US Men's gymnastics took home bronze, but even worse, the women's gymnastics made a whole bunch of mistakes (most of them falls) and got silver. In both cases China won gold. Of course, that will only hold up until they find out that the China's gymnastics was faked too, and that the women's team, who all look like they're 13, really WERE 13, thus were too young to compete and are disqualified due to age.
