Its that time again
« on: Jan 08, 2008, 12:04:44 PM »
I'm about to submit my stuff to agencies and I need a monologue.  Right now I have Animal House-Otter in front of the judicial board.  But I need something else, something action hero...or villain.  Can you guys think of anything?

Guess Elise's monologue from "Somewhere in Time" won't work, then.

The man of my dreams has almost faded now...the one I have created in my mind...the one every woman dreams of in the deepest, most secret reaches of her heart....

Go through the X-men movies.  I think both Mags and Chuck have a few good ones. If you can get ahold of the HBO version of "Rasputin", Alan Rickman goes off on a pretty good tear more than once.  Or you can always do Goku's speech after Freeza kills Vegeta.

See, this is why they needed to do the Phoenix saga with the Hellfire Club.  Nobody could wax purple-prosed evil pontification like Sebastian Shaw.
Tortures end me,

Of all the pains, the greatest pain
is to love, and love in vain.

What about the one Al Pacino does in Scent of a Woman?

hmm thats sketchy cause they say you shouldn't do monologues that are so completely tied to a particular  actor because they'll be comparing you to that actor the whole time you're doing it.  But its hard to say what monologues are completely nailed down by some actors and which ones are good choices.

Like the animal house one is a good choice because not that many people remember it.

What are you talking about! EVERYBODY remembers that monologue! Plus I don't think you'll be able to find a GOOD monologue that wasn't in a successful movie already.. hmm let me think... no, I can't think of any! Unless you want a cheesy one, like from Queen of the Damned or some cheesy movie like that hah

They might remember the scene but its been awhile and its not like its attached to that actor.  Not the way something like "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH" is ya know what I mean?

But do you want some kind of emotion-filled monologue, or like just telling a story-kind of monologue?

Probably an emotion one.  It could tell a story too but the story should involve my character.  Like I shouldn't be telling someone else's story that I have nothing to do with.  I could probably get away with the one at the end of 300 if it wasn't so recent.

Borrow something from The Lion in Winter.  That movie's a fucking gold mine.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
