NOOOO DON'T BUY A VAIO! those computers SUCK ASS.
Just invest a little more and get yourself a Mac. Thank me later.
No, but really. I think that you can pay it with like 30 bucks a month..I don't know how many years would that be haha but , believe me, it's worth it. NO viruses.

Seconded. Vaios are like cars - the minute the warranty runs out, it stops working, and they're nearly impossible to fix. Macs are awesome. My brother bought one that's about four years old and it runs better than most new PCs.

Merla's first laptop was a VAIO.  She got it around 2002 and it works fine.  The only thing that's wrong with it is one of the hinges is broken so it's a bitch to open and close.  But that only happened last year, so it still functioned great in the years she used it steadily.

I'm a little wary about a Mac.  Not that I don't think its a good machine, but I don't want to deal with any compatibility issues.  A brief look at them and it seems they don't have what I want in my price range anyway, so even if they are teh bestested machinez of all timez, I still can't afford one and have to go lower-ended anyway.

Well the compatibility issues do suck. But then you get used to it. It hurt me so much when I found out I couldn't use my webcam with my version of the msn, because they still haven't made a new version with the webcam availability. But then I do have the Ichat, that it is like mac's version of aim. The other thing is that macs obviously don't come with any of the microsoft word, access, excel, powerpoint, etc. Now you can buy it for a mac though, so that's good. But I think that you only need those when you are in classes.

As long as final draft runs on a mac I should be fine writing wise.

Neither does any non-Mac I'd be buying, but I have already have a copy of Microsoft Office so I'm okay on that.

I have typed on Macs... I didn't see the appeal. My friend Lisa swears by them, but my experience with them has been luke warm. With the fervor Apple-fans cling to Macs, as a PC user it's just a little different with new keystrokes.

I do own an iPod, though.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

"Mac-sicans"?  Because no way will they pronounce that second 'c' if it's hard.   :laugh:
I love escargot!  Is that so wrong?
