What not to watch this fall
« on: Sep 08, 2007, 01:53:06 PM »
Notice the NOT in the title. Instead of listing what you should watch, I'll list why you might want to skip these programs (although I have an idea that you will anyway).

Prison Break - Fox
All right, so Michael breaks his brother out of prison, there's an entire season devoted to the chase, and eventually his brother's name is cleared and all is well.

And then the dumbfucks at Fox decide to milk this cash cow's dick for all it's worth and have Michael be the one in prison and his brother breaking him out instead. They should have ended the entire TV series at last season.

See, most of these primetime dramas need to know when to quit, instead of doing something because they want to get rich. They need to take a page from most anime studios, that usually quit a series before it gets stale (except for DBZ and Naruto and possibly Inu Yasha and Yugioh, which means there may be some rich American CEO mentality in Japan).

Heroes - NBC
I'll give this series props for at least semi-wrapping up the series at the end. But damn did I get kinda bored with this. It had it's moments, but seriously, this is a show about superhuman powers. Instead of spending 90% of the show having people talk and shit, show some fucking superpowers. I expected this mass melee with a page straight out of the League of Superheros with all the heroes in the show fighting this epic battle and shit blowing up. For a show about superheroes, the ending was anticlimatic, and it seriously lacked special effects and awesome super battles.

This may be worth watching only if they redeem themselves in the second season.

Lost - ABC
I never got started with this show, and I really don't feel like it, because every time I try to sit down and watch this, I'm confused as all fuck. The show has a billion open plotlines, it's been dragging on forever, it's impossible to jump into the series at any point in the series besides the beginning, and there's no end in sight, and no answers to all the questions in sight. Like, for instance, what the fuck that shadow creature is. What's with the bunker with the timer and button? Why, when watching one episode, did I see what appeared to be a suburban household... on a deserted island?!

The way this show drags on with filler and crap reminds me of another show. What was it called again? Oh wait, that's right... Inuyasha. Dude, end the pain now, please!

A show I might watch (but will probably suck anyway):
Cavemen. A show based directly off the cavemen characters from the Geico commercials. And since those commercials suck, I have a feeling this will suck too. But I'll give it a shot anyway.

I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I'm not taking show advice from a guy that plans on watching Cavemen.  I watch LOST and that's pretty much it.  As it is, it won't even be on until next year anyway.  And yeah, if you "never got started", plan on being confused when you do.  Fuckity-fuck.

Well I don't watch any of those shows already, so I guess I'll just keep doing that.

Plenty of time to start and possibly never finish.

They have the DVDs. Lost isn't the George Lopez show where you can come in midway. If you watch the series from the beginning, including the incredible pilot, then you'll understand the show alot more. Sure, some of the episodes are fluff, but the gems in there easily make up for the crappy stuff.

Now if Damon Lindeloffer or whatever his name is will just stop fucking around and finish writing 'Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk'.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

Supernatural is a must for me. I might chell out Bionic Woman, Chuck, and Journeyman but I doubt I'll stick to any of'em. K-Ville is a possibility because I am a fan of one of the actors on there...Anthony Anderson I believe is his name.
There is one show on the CW I want to SEE, just maybe once or so, is that one that's about the family moving to South Africa or something. Its supposedly filmed on location, so that could be interesting.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

I like LOST, but I haven't seen all of it.  I agree that a lot of the plot lines are really open and hopefully will get tied up, but the season finale was definitely a mind fuck.

I've been watching Weeds and Californication on Shotime at the boy's house.  I wasn't going to watch the latter at first because I thought, "David Duchovny is funny AND gets a lot of pussy?  I don't believe it," but since it's on right after Weeds, we just wound up watching it anyway.  It's surprisingly good.

Has anyone watched Thank God You're Here?  It's an improv show on NBC.  When I watched it the other night, Jason Alexander and Harland Williams were on it and it was pretty funny.

"You killed my queen!"
"No sir, I impregnated her!"
