Well I guess it'll vary from city to city. Here, all the cops would show up as well as half the fire department because of lack of anything exciting happening. They are all hard up for something to go down, so they can flash their lights and drive fast. Now in your city of crime and evilness...they might be more selective.

The zip code I live in last I heard has one of the highest murder rates in the city. Doing a quick look at some stats I found online, over twice the number of my old neighborhood, so yes, the cops here are a tad more selective.

That's why I tend to not even consider living in the really big cities. I do, however, like the convinces of the city so If I were to move to one it would be one of the smaller ones, or on the outskirts of a bigger one, cause the crime rates seem to be lower there.

Cops seem to be pretty selective here, too. If someone in one of the ghettos calls the cops, they can take half an hour or more. If someone in Riverside or the east side calls the cops, half the police force is there in like thirty seconds.

Havn't really enjoyed my many trips to St. Louis over the years. (Now the most dangerous city in America two years in a row! YAY!) Granted, I've been to other cities I did like...like New Orlean (Except everyone threw their trash on the sidewalk there). Denver and St. Paul weren't so bad either.

My girlfriend lives in a town of 1,500 with a penitentiary that holds the worst psychopaths for hundreds of miles. Escapes occur rather often, too.

Yeah...I doubt I'd live there now, but post Katrina it wasn't so bad.
