The point she was making (a valid one, too) is that anybody can go to any college they can afford and get a degree.

When I went to Mississippi State, I went through hell for six years and have nothing to show for it but what's left of the student loan payments, all because I had to go for an engineering degree (one of the harder ones, at that) instead of something like business management or information technology that would have been far easier and probably broad enough to have found a job I could have kept all this time instead of having to struggle to find work in the field in my home area and having to eventually punt and go back to school for a medical degree that will as a result of the economy be nearly as difficult to find enduring work.
*breathes*
I could have partied it up and taken it easy the whole time, but noooooo....
