Tropical Paradise of Hard Shelled Fruits / Flew to Arizona
« on: Jun 16, 2006, 02:46:21 PM »
Well I wouldn't know seeing I've never shopped there!

One bad thing about Arizona... the major department retailer down there is Walmart. At least up here we have Meijers and Kmart. hopefully there's Kmarts down there too or it'll be mighty hard for me to do my shopping without stepping foot in a Walmart.

Another bad thing about Arizona. The price of gas is constantly over $3. You think having a Hummer on the east coast is bad...

My short term memory isn't what it used to be.

Neither is my long term.

Who are you guys again?

I wasn't thinking of that. I was thinking "Why does Nuri have a stuffed Littlefoot?"

I wouldn't be scared of it turning it's head. Now, if it's eyes glow and the head spins around a couple times and then he projectile vomits, then I'd be scared.

Oh well. At least aDam admitted he'd fuck a 13 year old catgirl....

...unless he meant the older twin catgirls.. O SHI-

I've had so many web design classes my head hurts. That anime website was before them. Sure I don't have a portfolio but I'm working on that. Even if I crank out a pointless website for myself that has 3 pages if it looks pretty hopefully it's all good.
Not trying to be rude here but....

What the fuck are you new to Internet? Every jerk off an his mom has a site. Fucking 12 year old bitches are making sweet designed websites for dumb ass shit like Black Eye Peas fan listing sites and you can't trouble yourself to make something up?  Don't bitch about not having experience and fucking get some. Make a site about any dumb shit you can think of, not matter how retarded the topic. Make it pretty. Make it what you want to make for other people. Then when you apply for a job you have something to show them.

For every guy out there with a background in web design education without even a single site to back it up there are a thousand people who learned that shit on their own with a better chance of getting the job.

You're in one of the few feilds where you have the oppurtunity to create your own experience without having to work to get it and all you can do is bitch about it like a fucking little bitch. Get off your ass.
Yes, but every jerkoff and his mom's site is usually some shitty geocities crap. Making a website is easy. making a professional looking one is more difficult. I have no website, and I don't know why I would want one. Why would I? as you guys show, no one's going to care about my life and hobbies. I'm still trying to get someone who wants me to redo their site for free so I can practice and have that experience.

But, since no one reads, when I complain about jobs wanting experience, I'm talking about ones you wouldn't expect to have experience for, like auto parts, or resturants, or customer service/tech support, or quicklube oil change, or warehouse, where you wouldn't expect them to want experience but every job around here wants you to have some.

It may be moot, I think the local Dominos may give me a job. Unless they expect me to have experience driving to someone's house and giving them a fucking pizza.

If I had the money, I'd have all the hair behind my balls and around my ass laser removed. Not because I'm gay, but because it's more hygenic.

Tropical Paradise of Hard Shelled Fruits / Suddenly, Furries!
« on: Jun 16, 2006, 02:08:18 PM »
Starts out with a guy in a fox suit playing violin onstage. Fine by me. I'm sure it's hard as hell to play a violin onstage and the fact he's doing it at all isn't too bad.

Then someone shouts "Play something modern".

Their idea of modern is to have 5 furries in suits dancing along to Backstreet Boys' music, in the exact same way all boybands dance.

All furries must die.

Edit: I'm sorry, it was Backstreet Boys not Nsync. Well, all those bands are the same anyway, it's hard to tell.

Have I mentioned this before?

There's these soapbox christians who stand on this same corner at least once a month, preaching about how everyone else is going to hell, usually with a megaphone.

I saw this one guy getting really angry at one of the guys, getting in his face and screaming and swearing at the preachers and getting red faced.

Obviously angry behavior like that will just make them feel like they are right, that they are better than mr. angry man and they need to save people like mr. angry man from the devil. They'd probably do it anyway, but the few people who agree with them, combined with the people who scream at them, inflate their egos and make them think they're doing the right thing.

But what should I do? Should I debate with them and show them where they're wrong, or not even bother, because it would be like talking to someone with Alzheimer's?

I am remembering the fun things I did in Arizona. I got to see experimental apache helecopters, and remembered where I saw them so I can take off with them and use them to destroy the world...

And when I talk experience I mean for shit like selling auto parts, auto repair (I have personal experience), sitting in front of a desk taking calls, working in a warehouse.

You can't get an "entry-level" job without any experience, that's just how it works.

That's the point of "Entry Level", it means they don't expect you to have professional experience. Entry Level =  No Professional Experience. Some places still might want you to know how to do the job, but others will train. And there's a severe lack of entry level in michigan.

Mock me if you wish, but I don't plan on working in retail for my entire life like some of you guys. At least I'm trying to get an entry-level job in something.

It just pisses me off when the paper's job listings are so thin, and every job I see there and apply to requires experience, and especially when they expect you to have professional experience even though I KNOW I can do the damn job without it.

One of the agencies that denied me has a position for an assistant webdesigner. I'm going to demand they let me try for the job or I'll kill someone down there.

Not that I know of but there was a Ninja Squirels TV show.

Miyazaki movies aside I thought Appleseed was  a great full length anime movie. I assume you've seen the stardard ones like Ghost in the Shell and Akira.
Which Appleseed?

Ok, but I still don't know why your panties are in a bunch.

This is from the same guy who did Voices of a Distant Star.

It's set in an alternate universe, Japan's split into North and South. Two teenage best friends have two obsessions, a girl they both have a crush on, and building a plane to fly with her to an enormous tower on the horizon in enemy territory. Unfortunatly, the girl goes into a coma and the guys go their separate ways. 3 years later, war between north & south is coming, a link between the girl's coma, the tower, and alternate universes is found, and the boys realize that the only way to wake up the girl is to complete their promise and fly to the tower. But if she wakes up, the tower might destroy the entire world.

The animation's pretty, the story's slow and has little action, and the ending's happier than Voices. The movie was ok, but had the annoying tendancy to occasionally jump from present to 3 years ago and from reality to dreamland. Also, several things weren't explained, like why the enemy would build a giant tower to possibly destroy the world, and why this girl was connected with the tower.

Voices was better, anyway.

Someone needs to remind me who this Lynch guy is again.  I seem to have a vague memory of him being a member of this board eons ago, but everything from back then is a blur.

Edit: I also just read that entire thing, amazingly enough. It sounds like IDE wrote the entire thing.

one of the things that's pissing me off the most about getting a job nowadays is the shitty job market, and I think I know why it's shitty. Every job requires experience and no job is willing to give you that experience.

So far, I've been denied at 3 employment agencies. One said that they wouldn't take me because I had been unemployed more than 6 months (wtf?), but the other two said they needed someone with experience in warehouse work... why do you need experience in a warehouse? What, to know how to move a box from one place to another?

Same thing at Murray's and this bike shop I went to. The bike shop wanted experienced people to work there for bike repairs... it's not like I can get a bachelors in bike repair, where am I supposed to get this experience? Murray's wanted someone with "Parts" experience, which didn't make sense, how hard is it to look up a part on a computer and get it off a shelf? Yes, I know this is a starter and this is a brake caliper, I just spent my entire weekend fixing my damn car!

I hardly bother to read the Sunday job section because 80% of the jobs need fucking experience.

How come every place wants you to have experience, but the only way to get that experience is working at one of those places? It's a paradox. You can't work at this store without experience, but you get experience by working at this store.

This is why the economy is going to shit. I blame Bush and his anti-Greek-gay-apprenticeship amendment.

So, this is where our tax dollars go.

President Bush and Senate conservatives renewed their battle Monday to ban same-sex marriage through a constitutional amendment that has a slim chance of passage.

"I call on the Congress to pass this amendment, send it to the states for ratification, so we can take this issue out of the hands of overreaching judges and put it back where it belongs: in the hands of the American people," Bush said at the White House on Monday.

"When judges insist on imposing their arbitrary will on the people, the only alternative left to the people is an amendment to the Constitution: the only law a court cannot overturn," he said.

I hate it when they call marriage an "institution", they act like it's an organization giving money to the government. Although, I bet if "traditional" marriage was an institution, it would be doing the same thing as the oil industry and giving Bush and his Republicans big bucks.
