Apparently the consensus is that this season (nearly over) was one of the better ones on record. I have enjoyed a number of shows, but apparently the better ones went unwatched. Primarily Chainsaw Man (which looks totally unappealing to me) and Akiba Maid War (ditto). I did however enjoy Eminence in Shadow (last ep of season tomorrow), Raven of the Inner Palace, and Do It Yourself (both of which I'm slightly behind on).

And I'm still catching up on Urusei Yatsura...yes, I know.

My pull list for Spring 2023 includes DanMachi S4 Cour 2 (one of the better runs in the novel), Trigun Stampede (nostalgia), My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog (return of the smut), Chillin' in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King's Army (looked like a hoot), The Misfit of Demon King Academy Ⅱ (I was surprised this got a sequel; I have always liked OP MCs), Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro S2 (Uzaki-chan done...somewhat better), Ayakashi Triangle (return of the smut, part deux), and Lupin III vs Cat's Eye (I've been on a Lupin kick lately).

The whatever the frozen hell that was is basically over: it's just our run-of-the-mill meh winter now.

My niece has loved Barbie all her life and still maintains a growing collection, so I imagine she'll be head over heels for this.

It was 10 this and yesterday morning. Supposed to warm up to 30 today...only hit 27 yesterday.

As if I needed any more reason to stay inside while on vacation 😄

I just saw (apparently it's been known for quite a while, but I don't remember seeing it before) that Amazon is preparing a God of War show.

Ugh.

Using the showrunner for the Wheel of Time.

Ugh!

And it's going to forego all the Greek background and jump straight into the Norse storyline.

UGH!

With them also having screwed up the delivery of my mother's Christmas present because of their bullshit 2-day Prime delivery being, well, bullshit; I'm ready for Amazon to just die already. GDAITA.

66
There was so much good about RoP, from the production values to the music to the potential for actual storytelling, but they blew it spectacularly. I'm hoping they can recover, and I'm enough of a Tolkien nerd to keep watching it despite myself.

67
Same.

68
Yup, Matrix is one of the best one-shot stand-alone movies of all time.

69
Thanks for letting me know. Is stopped watching most of my pull list due to God of War occupying my nights lately. Dropping a show will help me cull the number nicely, and I'd hate to waste my time with (more) pap.

70
For instance, the episodes that introduced Bond were good because the three main characters were involved in it with all they bring to the table. Then it's back to that damn school, and Bond is relegated to a running gag.

71
The whole problem is the driving force of it is the school part, and that's the least enjoyable piece of it.

72
The Fall of Numenor arrived today. I actually bought it for my oldest nephew's Christmas gift, but seeing as he just texted me a photo of the copy he ordered for himself I guess I'll be reading it henceforth....

73
I just don't get all the Taika Waititi fellation. The last two Thor movies, while having entertaining moments, just weren't good. They've basically turned Thor into a running gag, and while that's fine with Guardians of the Galaxy, it's not fine with Thor. The latest Dr. Strange movie more or less made Wandavision required watching to really understand what was going on, and I'm not interested in going down those Disney+ rabbit holes.

74
I'm watching it. It's alright, but I can tell they're about to really start dragging their feet.

75
Yeah, I'll never watch that show.

76
I'm still enjoying it. It's episodic with an undercurrent of essentially rooting out the palace intrigue stemming from the emperor's evil stepmother.

77
Will this show even be able to find an audience?
I never watched Urusei Yatsura before the remake started, so, yes, I think it will. The way things are these days, old and hokey has an odd charm about it...nostalgia, maybe?

My current watch list looks like this:
- Peter Grill S2 (because I need some trashy, low-class smut in the pull list)
- Do It Yourself (the total opposite; a sickly sweet show about high school girls building park benches)
- The Eminence in Shadow (increasingly not what I thought it would be...it's on the knife's edge of being dropped as it's a surprise isekai with a fighting harem and dueling school blah blah blah)
- Raven of the Inner Palace (unexpectedly interesting and entertaining; it's about palace intrigue in the Chinese empire focusing on a court consort the emperor can't actually screw)
- Spy x Family continuation (I've actually read the manga, so while its not new it's still super enjoyable)
- Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai S2 (truthfully I'm wishing the guy would snap and rage bang the idiot in the title, but anyway...I can't explain my watching of this)
- Urusei Yatsura (I feel this is something I was supposed to have seen 30 years ago but never really had an easy way to do so, so here we are)

78
I want to see it if for no other reason than the Justice Society. Never thought I'd see them in live action...

79
I'm all in for the new Dad of War game. The last one was likely my favorite of the previous gen games (though I admittedly played Spiderman more thanks to the trickled DLC).

80
Loretta Lynn was certainly a titan of country music, but the modern music field in general owes her a lot for proving that women were just as valid artists as men and breaking down a lot of barriers by virtue of that. And I always appreciated the fact that, even though she was rich and owned a mansion, she cut her own grass until she had her stroke several years ago.

81
I've never been a Kevin Smith fan, but I'm particularly pissy over his shoddy Masters of the Universe reboot. It wasn't as bad as the really loud pricks say it was, but it certainly wasn't good. I won't watch anything he's pushing at this point.

82
The time frame is completely jacked up, the characterizations are largely garbage, and no amount of production quality will make up for the drivel dialogue and ponderous plotting. And they haven't even gotten to the damn rings of powet yet. This is nothing but pure-D fanfic, and not good fanfic, to boot.

83
I'm not interested in anything that isn't God of War Ragnarok at this point.

84
Guess it's about time to cash in my free week of Disney+ on the Roku

85
Can you believe they spent a quarter BILLION clams on the rights to LOTR but couldn't get the fucking Silmarillion? I don't know who is to blame: Amazon for being retards, or the Tolkien estate being greedy bitches. Either way that means they can't reference anything from it that isn't also in the ROTK appendices! I don't see how they thought they could do a prequel without the primary reference for it. They did sneak some visual references from some First Age artwork, but my fear of it turning out to be largely Tolkien fanfic is no longer just an extension of my natural cynical pessimism....

86
I was wondering how that would turn out. From the trailer it looked like it was animated using the engine from Dragon Ball FighterZ, but it didn't really show scenes longer than 1.5 seconds at a time.

I saw the Mazinger Z Infinity movie over the past week. It was alright, but hardly a conclusive ending, and it was a bit short on the super robot action I was expecting.

87
I've read a good chunk of the manga, and while it was a fun concept it doesn't look like they plan to move past that anyone soon. One-truck ponies just don't cut it with me and my limited available viewing time.

Forties is not old. :nono:
At least there are not more people older than us now than there were 20 years ago.

BIRTHDAY BUMP!

Enjoy the broken jpegs!

I watched Lupin III: The First over the weekend, and while it was alright (Nazi bad guys are very played out, though) it was weird seeing the classic crew rendered in 3D animation. It was pretty well done, but something about Lupin struck me as being off the whole time.
