Just watching Shanieology craft AI mashups and laughing at it makes it worthwhile.

Thing is, Galadriel was a bit of a dick in the First age and into the Second, but she wasn't functionally retarded. I reiterate my contention that this is nothing more or less than a billion dollar fan-fiction

To be clear, I'm not saying it is Shakespeare, just that I think Smith believes that's what he's accomplished here.
Smith strikes me as one who just loves the smell of his own poop and as such doesn't believe in the courtesy flush.  So I don't doubt he's proud as can be over it, which explains why he was so butthurt about Revelation being shat over.

I did like how Hordak snorted derisively at Skeletor at one point, that was a nice touch.
I think that was a little Easter egg amongst a ton of little Easter eggs. I saw where someone pointed out the front of a Cadillac in the background of this one scene with Gwildor, and it was the one whose front end came with them to Eternia in the movie. But Keith David fucking killed it in this.

You mentioned the Snake Men, and I did like what they did with Teela in regards to that. I don't know if you ever had any of those mini-comics they used to pack in with the figures, but one of the earliest ones had that green-skinned Teela character, and I'm not sure she was even referred to as Teela at that point, to be honest. But then later when she got her own toy, they mostly kept that same design (albeit with the swapped out skin tone) complete with her cobra hood and scepter.
They call the green version of Teela "the Green Goddess" now, which adds to the ongoing Teela/Goddess/Sorceress conundrum. Basically Teela was both a warrior and goddess in her original concept, so it was great how they reconciled all the aspects of her character.

And from the way Kevin talks about it, it sounds like Revolution is being very well received. He sounds hopeful that they'll get to do more.
Yeah, I read that and was relieved.  Apparently the reason they went with 5 episodes was Netflix's algorithm told them it would do better, and it apparently has. Word is that Revolution has already done better than Revelation and was in Netflix's Top 10 for six days straight. I just hope now that strikes and whatnot are over we can get more content quicker, because the wait was pretty long for this in on top of the normal animation delay.

I thought the final episode was a really good payoff overall, but man, I found a lot of the dialogue throughout to be fucking awful.

I wouldn't be opposed to them coming back to it at some point down the line, though. Going by the epilogue, they clearly have some ideas.
I agree about the dialogue, but I wasn't expecting Shakespeare or anything...I was looking for dumb fun and found it in spades. There were several particular groaners in there, but my favorite one was the "I laugh at the superior intellect" line...it was so cliche, but the fact they even dared to throw that in there I found to be pretty ballsy.

I'll be honestly surprised if they do another season given the blowback from the previous series...this was better animated with more celebrity voicing, but that's partially why it was only 5 episodes. I'm hoping word of mouth will attract those who were so butt-hurt over Revelation to watch this.

MOTU: Revolution was unexpectedly awesome. Tighter story, better animation, epic voicing. Watch it.

Classroom of the Elite is back! You have to watch this in at least 2 episode gulps, though, because you have a scenario episode and then a resolution episode. It's oddly like reading Psalms: half of it is bitching at God, then the last half is saying He'll work it out.

If Fritz had slipped in the tub and cracked his neck in the early eighties all of those guys would have likely been good but small-time wrestlers who wound up getting real jobs by the time they were 30, and all of them would likely still be living.

8
That whole story was legendary for its tragedy.

9
I've still got 8 shows from this season I haven't started watching, let along the dozen or so from this past year. It can't be time for winter season already, can it?

10
Okay, I've done a little reading up, and now I understand it. Basically, they have concluded the series in a novel manner that also clears up the likelihood of Loki's return to the MCU. But the way that they did it really wasted a lot of time...in the end, though, I suppose all recursive stories ultimately are.

11
I liked it, but I didn't really get the ending....likely because I was watching it at 2 this morning when I should have been (as I was for a few minutes here and there) asleep. I'll rewatch it just to be sure I understand what happened and most importantly why. I'll refrain from spoilers, but they really spun their wheels a bunch in this season.

12
I'd not be surprised...my attention is fleeting with everything I'm trying (and failing) to keep up with.

13
I enjoyed it, too, but I still haven't watched the final six episodes from a couple months back. I didn't care for the way the manga ended, so I'm interested to see how everything pans out on the show.

14
I was gonna watch all those Warsies shows, but after Mando season 2 I made the executive decision to forego the rest. They're doing the same thing with them that they did/are doing with the Marvel shows: create a cheaper but harder to follow continuity requiring watching everything within a certain time frame and in a certain order while keeping track of all that shit that should at its heart be disposable entertainment. At what point did some genius decide that franchise fatigue is best combatted with even more stuff to follow?

I'm off work this Thursday...got an appointment with the local powet/internet company to run fiber into my house. My long-held, seeming pipe dream of gigabit innerwebs in Podunk Holler should become reality in a few short days! Hopefully I can spend the rest of the day catching up with some shows and a bit of yardwork now that the outdoor temps are finally sane.

My current pull list includes
  • The Eminence in Shadow (first season was brilliant in itself and as a satire)
  • Kimizero (similar premise to My Dress-up Darling without the cosplay element)
  • Sousou no Frieren (elf outlives her party and gets maudlin over it)
  • Kanojo mo Kanojo S2 (mild haremy smut, but entertaining mild haremy smut)
  • Spy x Family S2 (against my better judgment)
  • Tearmoon Empire (like the Villainess trope: here the princess gets sent back to her younger self to act differently to prevent her guillotining)
  • Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch (immortal adopts a human who grows up nicely so people get the wrong idea as to the parent/child relationship)
  • Hyakkano (see below)
  • SHY (super heroes with self esteem issues...may be an interesting spin on things as long as it doesn't turn out to be an anime adaptation of Spiderman)
  • The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy (for some reason I'm a sucker for high schoolers turning into demon lords or other unconventional success stories...and harems, apparently)
  • Helck (continuation; it got more interesting when they finally got back on the continent and revealed Helck's backstory)
Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun...
I watched most of the first season, but I couldn't hang with it. Not that there was anything really bad about it.
...Hyakkano has been pretty good so far.
A lot of people are saying the source material for that is really good, and the production values are high. It's one of my pulls. I've been pro-crazy expressions ever since watching and reading GTO. And the ridiculous premise sounds like a hoot.

16
I just can't do it anymore...I haven't watched half of my summer season pulls, and I haven't even touched the fall stuff yet. I've officially hit middle age in that I can't stay up all night watching cartoons and be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in time for work at 7AM.

17
Season 2 has already been announced. Sounds like Season 1 only adapted the first two LNs, but anyway. I'll probably binge it between now and the start of the new season shows.

18
Luckily these are official translations...of course once you catch up you become subject to the delays of long-term novelizations. I've been waiting on the latest volumes for DanMachi and Genius Prince for what seems like forever.

19
I've been reading the Black Summoner light novels lately. I unexpectedly enjoyed the anime, but the manga was only about twice as far past it, so I jumped into the LNs. I've gotten to the last completed major arc from the manga, but I'm only on the fourth book out of twelve, so there's quite a lot of yet unseen content left.

20
I pulled the fourth season of Harley but just didn't bother watching it. It was a chore for me to get through more often than not.

21
Terry Funk and Arleen Sorkin died last week, too.

22
I keep seeing promos for it, and all I get is, "go see it and support Latino representation in Hollywood!" I would imagine way more folks would support a good movie that has Latinos in it than would back a crap movie *just because* it has Latinos in it. If Hollywood wants to promote representation properly, do the folks the favor of not throwing them in shit flicks just so you can mark that off your diversity chell list.

23
I don't usually go by trailers because they just show off the fun, fluffy parts. I typically hit ANN's preview at the start of every season, read what they have to say, pick a few to start, and adjust accordingly. Unfortunately, this isn't as helpful as it used to be...the reviewers I paid the most attention to are now gone, and those who are left don't really jive well with what passes for my taste.

Regarding this season, I've been downloading a ton of stuff, but I haven't gotten around to watching most of it since I've been binging the newest season of Bastard! lately.

24
Whoops!
Hope it was a good one, friend. We're all old now, having known each other to some degree or another for nearly half our lives. Wonder if we'll all still be doing this same routine in a nursing home at some point?

25
Movies have to have dull parts, or the cool parts won't be as cool. Or something.

26
I liked the manga, so I'll stick with it for now.

27
I never watched him because he came across (snerk) as creepy and cringy as all get-out.

Pee-Wee, not your dad.

28
I saw a Fathom Events presentation of Princess Mononoke this weekend. It definitely gains a lot from the theater experience, but it has been at least 10 years since I last watched it and likely longer. I'd forgotten a huge amount of it, which was nice in its own way. I don't remember ever having watched it subbed, so that part was new...beggars can't be choosers, as I was in town on other business and happened to be there during this showing, so while I didn't have the option it was just as well I didn't.

29
I was going to comment on Chobits, but now that I think about it I really don't remember that much of it aside from very broad strokes. I was binging a lot of stuff when I watched it (back when I was getting 3 DVDs from Netflix at a time), and there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then.

30
At least they did it right and let him keep his trunks. I'll have to find this and watch it, as Superman remains my all-time favorite superhero...just call me Bibbo.
