I think the song could be adapted to sound more Broadway like 90's Disney. What makes something Vivziepop anyway? Is it the fact that it's using an animatic in order to illustrate the song?

I have Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin extensions running in tandem on my browser. Not sure which catches what, but if I only run one and not the other, something inevitably gets through. Also, neither of them seem to stop YouTube ads anymore, so I've resigned myself to whitelisting the site and simply skipping ads when given the option.

I used to use ABP but I forget why I'm not anymore. I might've switched off of it when I changed computers. But I've basically waffled between ABP and AB and was using AB when I realized it was letting a pop-up constantly appear in the background.

I use Vivaldi (Neon Genesis Opera-gelion) as my main browser and Chrome's Adblocker Ultimate extension with it. It does a great job of filtering most ads but not all that would break sites. For search I use DuckDuckGo primarily, though if I'm doing specific image searching or using logical searches I still use Great Googley Moogley.

I've heard DDG is just Google search but with a fresh coat of feathers on it. So to speak. I used to use it when it first came out but I do notice a difference, same with Google, that the search results are very... curated.

I didn't even realize mine wasn't working until yesterday. I've switched to one that appears functional but I'm curious.

Also, do you guys know of an actual good search engine? Or am I stuck searching with "reddit" in my Google search query in order to find any actual answers to anything?

Yeah, I wasn't jazzed about the mage exam.  I was pleasantly surprised by it in that it ends up overall well-executed even if some parts of it drag a bit. We get some good characters from it, too. But an exam arc in and of itself is about as worn-out and tired as a tourney arc. And this part of the show introduces the worst outfit in the series. This may as well be Julia Roberts' hooker outfit from Pretty Woman. And some peeps on Reddit were all "wut about Laufen tho?"  What about Laufen?  Laufen's outfit doesn't kill my immersion like this shit does.

Hey, it is pretty good. I almost wish I was remotely interested in anything else on Disney+. This show's also rekindled my love of Rogue that was stomped on so mercilessly by Anna Paquin and the live action slop. (For the record, I like X1 and X2, but I hated Anna Paquin Rogue. I wanted a warm, feisty Southern belle with Peggy Bundy hair.)

I wasn't completely sold on the Cyclops VA. Ray Chase is super-talented but Cyke just sounds sorta extra douchey. But I like it now. I'm so confused about Forge though. Wasn't he in the old show? I guess he didn't meet Storm in it?

I finally managed to watch Over the Garden Wall. I see all the potential in it but wished it could've been moodier and spookier. Instead, someone would have to quip or some shit. I get it, it's a kid's story and needs to have quips and jokes so kids don't get scared. Oh, and I hated Wirt.

Watching people play Unicorn Overlord. The gameplay looks super-interesting and I like the art overall (except for the inflato-titties) but I can see people getting turned off by the level of micro-managing. The story is meh and the title is puke. The supports all should've been voiced.

Haven't watched it.  I've been feasting on all of the critical reviews instead: The costuming is a mixture of being too clean-looking and too cheap-looking; the characters talk too much but still don't say half as much as they did in the original; the people making this show had no understanding of the key themes of the damn story or any character motivations at all; Sokka and Aang overall seem to have okay to meh reception and Zuko's been better received than them; Jun was very well done; Katara, Suki, and Azula were utterly butchered beyond recognition; Bumi and Gran Gran were utter cringe; Daniel Dae Kim was the best actor in the show but his character also has no business getting so much screentime this early.

I have no idea why anyone would want to subject themselves to this show. At least something like One Piece has the excuse of having ten million billion episodes so the live action would be a shorter adaptation and thus more accessible by nature. Live Action Avatar and Book One are nearly the same length so the viewer spends around the same amount of time with the story for inferior content. But whatever, it's been renewed and it's apparently gotten enough eyeballs for Netflix.

And, no, I have no faith the creator's involvement would've fixed anything. Not after how they handled Korra. Those two guys get all of the credit for the OG show when the old show was lightning in a bottle: other people working with those two creators to make an excellent children's show.


I didn't realize joe had never seen it. Or did you see some of it and just didn't like it? I felt like the faux anime thing was far less egregious with this show. I was initially put off myself when I first saw an episode but the execution and episode structure is very much in line with Western cartoons. The bending is at its peak with the OG show, too. Korra, the movie, the comics, the dumb chibi shorts and any other material based on the franchise can all go into the dumpster though.

Something's been nagging me about Sign of Affection. Like it feels... fetishy. This dude loves learning languages so much that he's interested in the deaf girl because she's something new for him to learn from. And it still feels that way.

I came across a reddit thread where two people were stating they're from third world countries and the guy in this show reminds them of a creepy expat with a white savior complex. I definitely see it.

Does that ruin the show? I'd say 'no' because the adorable deaf girl carries the show. But it also makes the "romance" feel hollow. As if this dude thinks he's in love when this girl is merely different. And the girl's just got a crush she thinks is love. I'd fully expect this guy to dump this girl once she's too old to be infantilized and he gets tired of sign language.

As much as I dislike the idea of "childhood friend secretly in love with female lead," that guy's a better character. He's grappling with complicated feelings. Like his implied opinion that the deaf girl should just be with other deaf people. Or that he momentarily struggles with doing the right thing and helping a deaf stranger. He's way more interesting than "hot dude travels."

Generally speaking, I feel like most adaptations these days don't even qualify as fan fiction. Fan fiction's by fans and the people making shit these days don't even like (or know) the property they're adapting.

I was cringing the entire time during that bike eulogy thing, because it's a story that Kevin frequently tells about his own father! Back when he was a kid, all his friends had BMXs and he mentioned to his parents that he wanted one. So he comes home after school one day to find this fugly homemade bicycle that his dad had cobbled together, and he thanked him for it, but he never rode it because he would have been too embarrassed. Then much later after his old man had passed away, he was reminded of that bike and said that if he could go back he would have ridden it all up and down the streets all over town. And he's getting all teary-eyed while he's talking about it and I'll be honest, it was touching.

But then for him to just repurpose that shit for this dumb cartoon he's working on. Jesus Christ.

I KNEW it! I fucking knew it had to be something like that. That's part of the reason I laughed. I knew it had to be some weird-ass personal story. It was so jarring and out of place. Like, dude, no one wants your bike story in fucking He-Man. How self-absorbed can you get?
