I enjoyed these last 6 years with LOST but I don't think I'll miss it when it's finally gone. The writers didn't have a plan and it really shows. Maybe this last episode will prove me wrong but I doubt it.

PORTLAND, Ore. Jan 11, 2006 — A photo of a one-eyed kitten named Cy drew more than a little skepticism when it turned up on various Web sites, but medical authorities have a name for the bizarre condition.

"Holoprosencephaly" causes facial deformities, according to the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke, part of the National Institutes of Health. In the worst cases, a single eye is located where the nose should be, according to the institute's Web site.

Traci Allen says the kitten she named Cy, short for Cyclops, was born the night of Dec. 28 with the single eye and no nose.

"You don't expect to see something like that," the 35-year-old Allen said by telephone from her home in Redmond in central Oregon.

Allen said she stayed up all night with the deformed kitten on her recliner, feeding Cy a liquid formula through a syringe. She says she cared for the kitten the next day as well, until it died that evening.

Allen had taken digital pictures that she provided to The Associated Press. Some bloggers have questioned the authenticity of the photo distributed on Jan. 6.

AP regional photo editor Tom Stathis said he took extensive steps to confirm the one-eyed cat was not a hoax. Stathis had Allen ship him the memory card that was in her camera. On the card were a number of pictures including holiday snapshots, and four pictures of a one-eyed kitten. The kitten pictures showed the animal from different perspectives.

Fabricating those images in sequence and in the camera's original picture format, from the varying perspectives, would have been virtually impossible, Stathis said.

Meanwhile, Cy the one-eyed cat may be dead, but it has not left the building.

Allen said she's keeping the cat's corpse in her freezer for now, in case scientists would like it for research.

She said one thing's for certain: "I'm not going to put it on eBay."

Warner Bros. has released new concept art for its controversial Loonatics series. The new artwork keeps the color schemes for the characters but discards the angular and slightly menacing look for something that has a bit more anime styling to it. Additionally, the network seems to be making it clear that the series is "inspired by" the classic cartoons and that the characters are descendants -- not reworked versions of the originals -- presumably due to the protest of the characters' styles. Additionally, as noted before, the name of Buzz Bunny has been changed to Ace Bunny, due to the name "Buzz Bunny" already being used for a decidedly maturely rated product. As stated in the Loonatics press release, the characters get their powers from "cosmic dust."

The voice cast and lineup for the series has also been announced, featuring veteran US voice actors for the main roles and a healthy dose of guest stars that range from stage and screen actors (Tim Curry, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Florence Henderson) to industry veterans (Tom Kenny and Phil LaMarr).

The Loonatics, along with the characters that inspired them, are as follows:

Ace Bunny (ancestor: Bugs Bunny/voice: Charlie Schlatter): quick witted leader who has martial arts and "laser-lock vision"

Lexi Bunny (ancestor: Lola Bunny/voice: Jessica DiCicco): second in command who can blast things with her mind and has hyper hearing

Danger Duck (ancestor: Daffy Duck/voice: Jason Marsdsen): arrogant duck who resents Ace and wants to lead the team: can teleport and toss "magical energy spheres"

Spaz B. Wilde (ancestor: Tasmanian Devil/voice: Kevin Michael Richardson): the destruction expert who can destroy things with deadly tornadoes and super strength

Rev Runner (ancestor: Road Runner/voice: Rob Paulsen): a super fast talker who has embedded GPS technology and the ability to race at superspeeds

Tech E. Coyote (ancestor: Wile E. Coyote/voice: Kevin Michael Richardson): supergenius who is the team's gadget guru -- also has regenerative abilities, electromagnetic powers, and "mechanical mastery"

Zadavia (voice: Candi Milo): the mentor of the Loonatics who sends them out on missions

Loonatics will premiere this fall on Kids WB.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - DreamWorks Animation got hit Thursday with its first shareholder lawsuit since going public -- a proposed class-action accusing company officers of misrepresenting DVD sales for "Shrek 2."

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles federal court, claims DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and Chairman Roger Enrico failed to disclose in the first quarter that sales of "Shrek 2" DVDs were declining far more than expected.

The suit says DreamWorks (down $0.35 to $29.75, Research) continued to ship the title "far in excess of the actual demand" and hid the fact that retailers were returning "massive amounts" of unsold DVDs.

DreamWorks spokesman Bob Feldman said the company had not seen the lawsuit but called the claims "baseless."

"We believe the suit is completely without merit and we intend to defend ourselves vigorously," Feldman said.

DreamWorks Animation stunned investors on May 10 by reporting that first-quarter DVD sales for "Shrek 2" fell far short of the company's earlier projections and that the Glendale, Calif., studio would realize no revenue from the title in the quarter.

Katzenberg said DreamWorks had overestimated retail sales of "Shrek 2," and had been saddled with returns of unsold discs from retail outlets. The announcement during the company's May 10 earnings call sent DreamWorks shares tumbling 12 percent the next trading day.

The title, which broke all box office records for an animated feature last year, sold 33.7 million DVD units in the holiday fourth quarter, Feldman said.

Feldman said that despite sluggish first-quarter sales of 1.3 million units, DreamWorks has not revised its projection for worldwide "Shrek 2" DVD sales of 40 million units.

"Shrek 2" has logged sales of 35 million discs to date.

DreamWorks stocks sank another 7 percent Tuesday, after the debut of "Madagascar" over the long holiday weekend failed to meet analysts' expectations. The shares fell another 1.5 percent Thursday.

I hope this might signal these guys to take a chance on 2-D movies.
