Title: gas and weather and stuff
Post by: The D on Apr 05, 2006, 04:52:31 PM
Odd thing...  the price of gas around here has been slowly going up. It's actually starting to scare me. currently the average price is $2.60, some up to $2.70, and it just keeps on creeping up slowly. Haven't heard a peep from the media when usually they'd be all over this if the price suddenly increased. I wonder if this is some evil Oil Company or Republican plot to slowly raise oil prices so no one will notice?

Also, it's rather cold around here for April.

Okay. I'm done complaining for today. Rejoice. ^_^

Why was this necessary to post?

I hear you gain magical powers if you sniff gas cooking in an open oven.  Try it, maybe your life will have meaning...

Remember the Human Torch?  If D tries this, he'll think he'll be able to fly while he's on fire.

One of my professors says he thinks it'll be three dollars this summer.  I think gas needs to rise.  Too many bad drivers own a car.  They need to be reamed.

They should switch over to Ethanol. It's completely renewable fuel source and it'd give the mid-American farmer a healthily shot in the arm. And we've have like zero dependence on foreign oil, and it only takes minor alterations to the design of a car's engine to allow it to burn it effectively, unlike electric or fuel cell cars.

Give major political contributors about 5-10 years to transfer investments into farmland.  Then the lobbyists will start promoting Ethanol.  But even rich people are complaining now.  I love stopping beside Hummers and looking over with the same condescening smirk their drivers used to give me, thinking " 40 MPG in the city, motherfucker!"   :P

And I'd take a cold April. So far, it's been 10-15 degrees above normal temps every day.

Man I'd love that. I wish it'd just get and stay warm here...I'm so sick for freezing my nuts off every night. I'm telling you...as soon as I sell this book and get some money in the bank I'm moving to Texas. I'm sick of this Warm/Cold shit. I think I'll trade it in for Warm/ Fucking Frying!

I'm predicting May.  It's already $2.78 some places in Maryland...  Thank god for that Royal Farms next to my office that has gas for $2.32...

Hey, I just noticed if you give Harley Davidson Ken a plaid shirt, mess up his hair and give him a hat, he'd look kinda like Scott McNeil.

I don't want to think about gas prices.  I would consider riding the bus if it wasn't a pain in the ass to get home.  My car was in the shop because of a wild dog/ dogs attack.  I decided I would not rent a car and take the bus.  I didn't think it was going to be a big deal because I rode the bus for six years before I got my license and car.  When it was time to go home at 4pm, three buses would not let me on because they were full!  I was so pissed I was in tears finally the four bus let me on and I didn't get home until around 5:40pm when I only live 15 minutes away.  I went and got a rental the next day. (And then proceeded to get fucked over again but that's another story.) Nuri told me that kind of shit is normal.  I feel sad for people who have no choice and have to deal with this.  Gas prices maybe rising but I am grateful I have car.

It's more like thirty minutes by bus.  It's those damn school children.  If they're gonna allow those little monsters on the bus, they should at least increase the service during that time.

It doesn't take a professor to realize gas is rapidly heading toward $3/gallon.  Goes to show that the excuse about Katrina destroying refineries as the cause of gas price increases last August/September was pure bullshit.  The hangup is that it just costs too damn much by the barrel.  It's the fault of OPEC and oil companies.

I wish I could ride a bicycle to work, but it's thirty miles one way.  But a motorcycle might be an option...or I could put a lawn mower motor on a bicycle and go ghetto.

I can promise you that all the platforms we insured are back in operation.   One of my clients repairs said platforms and treated himself to a new  Aston Martin for Christmas and a 10+ carat $192,000 diamond pendant for his wife .  Another with a patent on a special kind of shallow water platform bought a ranch.  Anybody making a living from offshore refinery servicing has made obscene profits over the past few months.

The Aston (http://www.carprices.com/vehicles/2005_Aston_Martin_V12_Vanquish_S_Coupe.html)

He also has a 2003 Ferrari 575M, 1959 Cadillac, 2005 Ford GT, 2003 Ferrari 360 Spider, 2004 Ferrari 360 Stradale, and 1963 Corvette. Paid cash for all of them and doesn't carry physical damage coverage.  Unreal.

Honestly, the only thing that bothers me about some of my mega-wealthies is their penchant for dumping things on other people at the last second because they're used to getting everything instantly or sooner. My personal "holy fuck" moment came several years ago when I had to get coverage bound on a 42 carat diamond ring valued at $748,000 (on Friday at 4 PM, of course  <_< ) because the husband was giving it to his wife for her birthday the next night.  Her engagement ring was 35 carats.  She must have arms like a gibbons monkey from the weight.  :P

The good thing about it being so balmy right now is that I could save moeny on gas by riding a 2 wheeler. And with gas now at $2.90 at one station, I'm going to have to do like the chinese and ride a bike everywhere.

Bah people only think that cause they cost twice as much as the Aston. The car really isn't any better and you have to pay another 250K on top of the 250K you'd already have to pay for the Aston.....no thank you.

But I do have to concede that the MacLaren is the fastest production car with an Automatic Transmission in existance.
