I bought the first DVD of Excel Saga when it first came out, and it's one of the ones in my collection I chose to keep.  Not that I wasn't amused by it, but I felt I had seen enough that I had no need to buy any more.

I agree with Shwig, the audio commentary is the best I've heard from any anime.
