Title: The Hills Have Eyes.
Post by: Extra Zero on Mar 12, 2006, 07:22:25 PM
I saw it this weekend with a group of friends while I was out of town.  I was excited about the movie and skeptical about it at the same time because it and 'High Tension' share the same director and 'High Tension' was absolute crap...  But 'Hills' had such an awesome trailer I couldn't pass it up.

So more on the movie, it's more than I was expecting, a lot more.  Its a bit more 'brutal and unflinching' than I was expecting and I have no idea how they got away with the R...  It's not big on story, but they highly succeed in making you absolutely hate the Hill people and the movie is beyond tense.

If you're going to bitch about being "poor" and "how you can't get out to see this", you're really missing out.  Word up to IDE, this one freaks chicks out.

One more thing, the 'Silent Hill' theatrical trailer looks beyond stunning on the big screen.  You also get to see a teaser for 'The Omen' remake, unfortunately the kid they got to play Damien looks like a turd-wad.

Is there any rape in this one?  actually don't tell me, but I was thinking that's the direction these movies (and what popped into my head when they said "this movie is intense!") are headed. Backwoods hill billy mutant graphic rape scene (maybe even gay rape scene! oh snap! cause seriously what's scarier than being disembowled by some freakish hick mutant than being sodomized while being disembowled by some freakish hick mutant) Though that would probably blow the ceiling off the R.

You could just rent the original.... Or buy it. I saw it in the "Movies that are getting remakes, and we are selling the originals to try to piggy back on it's profits " section at Wal-Mart next to the original King Kong.

I'm trying to figure out what the little girl says in the commercial...

"Mister, what's your..." what's my what? What's my... paradox? I dunno. I think my paradox is trying to figure out why I'm still here. And I think the answer to that is to bug all of you. But then it's not a paradox anymore.

This movie seems to discriminate against mutants too much. They need love too, even if they like to chop your arms off.

You couldn't hear that it was "Mister...would you play with us?"

Apparently he kills the two mutant kids, but that was cut out of the movie because it would have given them an NC-17...

I'll probably skip this one. I've never equated gore with scary.... In fact films that go for the gory shock instead of the good scare really don't do it for me. I think Alien is one of the scariest films ever made; yet apart from the Chestbuster sequence there is little to no gore in it.

Agreed.  I still refuse to watch The Changeling alone.

Yeah, that one kept me up at night as a kid, mainly because I didn't understand that "based on a true story"  didn't mean shit.

dude that did happen in real life.

No, even if it did, Travis Walton's story is far different from the events in the movie.  Not only did Travis never claim to be tortured, but he claims to have been hostile and assertive towards the creatures, was allowed to explore their ship and encountered humans aboard a mothership who had him sent back...  None of that shit happened in 'Fire in the Sky'.

oh nono yeah i know, im very familiar with that story. what i mean was that the abduction by itself was real.
what they did in the movie was just add extra things that would "attract" people, even if that meant scaring the crap out of them at the same time (i'll never forget the damn aliens' faces- at least they looked like the real Travis draw them)

The scariest shit was the hand print on the gas station window.
