Degrassi is actually a bit more Sleaze-grassi now.  They had a whole AIDS thing because this one gay kid couldn't give blood.  And then his boyfriend was messing around on him.  I don't remember the Sweet Valley twins ever getting caught up in any of that shit.

Degrassi has always tackled the sensitive isssues. The old show delt with teen pregnancy, abortion, drugs and all that fun stuff.  And Smith did it because he's always been a big fan hence the mention of Degrassi in "Chasing Amy".
