Everything looks nice, but I dread this day. Little else to do but go with it. Ciao later.

Sometimes funerals are a good chance to celebrate the life they lived and everyone shares experiences and it's not so horrible, there's alot of crying but some laughing too and overall it's a good experience. Hope yours goes that way.

It was all right. The only melodrama was Grandma, but to be expected considering the circumstances.
My cousin did a nice job of putting together pictures, and their was a lot of people there we didn't know. I wanted to strangle the priest and I don't know why...wait yes I do. Something irked me about him speaking about God and resurrection. Maybe cause it was my Grandpa's funeral and I'm fairly certain he placed little stock in religion. Hell, the entire occasion would've been too fancy for him. The things he said about God and Resurrection? I don't know, its just....the thought of  "What place does GOD have right now? We're here to celebrate Grandpa and his life. Fuck God." ran through my head.
My father, grandpa's son, had prepared some stuff to say but...he couldn't do it. Too emotional, he broke down when he asked if my Li'l brother could read it. Li'l Bro's had experience speaking in public. So the Li'l bro went up, said what was on the paper and almost broke down. I went up, said some piece I'll post tomorrow, did a pretty good job holding it together, then...I think because Russ and I went up, Darryl went up and basically said shit nothing...but I give him an A for Effort.
Some other people spoke as well...Then we all went to this Chinese Buffet and I came this close to jumping a black chick. We're sitting at the table, and this chick and two others are behind us. Keep in mind they were at the funeral, and I catch a snippet of conversation.
"Those three boys up there disrespectin' him. I ain't playing"....If I had been more certain that she was referring to US, I would've beaten her wrinkly ass without hesitation.

Funerals are pretty much the most unnatural experience any person can go through.  No one there is comfortable. No one there knows how to act and ignores the fact that no one else there really cares sicne they don't know how to react either.

Well, you could handle the woman. Be glad Phelps and his posse didn't show up, although if you kicked his ass and it showed up on TV, I'd root for you.

Far be it from me to kick you while you're down, but what the hell did you think he was going to talk about?  He's a priest, for God's sake.  If Grandpa wasn't particularly religious and the family wasn't partial to it, the padre shouldn't have been asked to speak.

But then, funerals are for the survivors, not the departed. Hearing of a hope beyond this life may be exactly what your Grandma needed to hear.

I remember my Grandpa's funeral.  Well some of it.  The sermon stuff I pretty much tune out from the get-go.  Since I hardly saw him to begin with, it's kinda like he's still alive and I just haven't seen him in a really, really long time.
