Title: Pet Check
Post by: MegatronYES on Sep 07, 2004, 02:25:38 AM
I can't keep track of any of the animals that you sick bastards keep, mostly since one of us has a stupid little Metal Man Farm, so just lay it all down here.  Smuggled Brazilian rain forest creatures count, too.

House Cat

Blackfoot
Amercia gray shorthair
four months old

People keep fucking them up and discarding them, they keep finding us:

Shana & Seiji - abandoned in a rainstorm on a friend's porch

Griffith - rode to work in a truck engine; badly burned - truck's owner threatened to kill him if she found him for "messing up her new truck's engine" (??).  Fur never grew back on his lower lip, giving him a disturbingly-human look

Guinness - abanoned at the pub I used to bartend for

Missy - another pub cat - owner moved from nearby apt. & dumped her with mange & an ulcerated eye.

Maki - rescued by Heart Bandits from house in Ft. Worth with 66 other Eskies.

Killian - drop-kicked down stairs & had two front claws pulled out by fucktard brat when 8 weeks old.  CAPS adoption after our first Eskie Marlena (Eddie found her in a parking lot) died of cancer.

Everyone is now all fat & sassy and spoiled within reason.  :D

Nubian: A Nubian is a type of goat that is rather large and very gentle.

The Mother Emu: THis ties into how we got the Emu's to start with. Friend of my Mom's had some Emu's that she needed to get rid of cause she was moving. As it turns out, a couple of kids had grabbed the mum Emu, Dragged'er across a park, and beat her to death. ....
And now we have Emu's.

He said there were two kid emus, he never specified the genders.

Faye, what the fuck kind of dog would you pay $3000 for? If you're not willing to bring your dog from Peru - and I don't see why not, what're you gonna do with a new dog when you go back to Peru - then at least adopt a puppy from some family that's giving them away. That's showing more love for the dog then some spoiled little shit anyway.

fuck THAT! i am sooo not adopting a dog, for the same reason i wouldnt adopt a baby. plus, people would NEVER give away yorkshire terriers, they are expensive . i cant get the dog sent here cause hes 14, hes gonna die soon, i dont think he would resist an 8 hours trip.
and for yorkshire terriers, the best ones cost 3000 bucks(tea cup ones, even tho people say theres not such a thing, there are still differences between "normal" and "tea cup") if you didnt know, go on and search on the internet

Post by: Bitch on Sep 08, 2004, 12:44:39 AM
That's still stupid, paying $3000 for a dog. Animals aren't fashion accessories. If you want a pet, a free collie will make as good a companion as an expensive itty bitty terrier. Plus, if you take care of the dog from the time it's a puppy, you're less likely to shove it over to someone else to take care of when you're bored of it.

If one wants to professionally show a dog or is sincerely interested in the promotion or continuation of a specific breed (I would actually consider buying a Silken Windhound from the Austin breeder who developed them), then the top dollar price can be worth it.  For a non-show pet of a specific breed, the breed rescue sites are the way to go.  They have dogs of every age.  That was how we got our purebred Eskie for $150.  Killian is also a purebred.  The only thing we lack is papers, but since we're not interested in showing, who gives a shit?

Personally, I prefer young or adult dogs (read "housebroken").  No matter how long the pedigree, there's no guarantee against a rogue puppy with behavior issues, plus inbreeding problems that crop up in *every* kennel.  And believe me, they remember being abandoned, mistreated, etc.  Maki's self-appointed job is to follow me *everywhere* and god help anyone who comes near the fence if Eddie isn't in the yard.

Post by: B E C K on Sep 10, 2004, 12:29:15 PM
I never contributed.  Here's my novel.

1 Beta fish
Yugi (alias: Yugi-kun)
My camera too shitty to get a good picture.

He's blue with some red and purply areas, though he's going in and out of gray within the last year and has taken to being almost completely vertical in his tank.  Old age?  I think he's dying.  He is old for a fish.  He's at least two years old, if not a bit older.

3 Cats

Sparkles (alias: Spark-a-boose, Sparky)

I got her about a year or so before my precious Button passed on.  I'm not sure her exact age.  I was told she was a kitten but when she arrived, she appeared to be a full grown juvenille.  Her estimated age, given the time that we've had her and when we were told she was born is almost three years now.  Wait... I'm certain I had my fish before we got Sparkles, so that makes him almost three if not older than three.  Damn, he is old.  So anyway, this is a thinner picture of Sparkles.  Sparkles is... jollier now.  And she has a high-pitcher squeaker of a meow.

Tokio (alias: Toke-a-boose, Toki, Toki-chan, Tokia)

Toki was our cat to take Button's place (not as a replacement for Button herself, but as our second cat since I felt we could support a second cat and give it a good home).  She was the feisty one out of three littermates, the children of my mom's stupid co-worker's son's cat Oreo, who had since gotten preggers again and then was lost.     I thought she looked too much like Button and initially didn't want her in particular.  My sister really liked her though.  She wasn't a kitty I thought was immediately cute either and I had second thoughts when I picked her out and brought her home.

Now I think she's the most adorable thing ever.  She is still extremely feisty and playful.  She has a very vengeful attitude and is very tempermental.  If you pick on her or bother her, she WILL get you back.  She scratches and bites like nobody's business.  She's a small cat in comparison to other cats we've had.  Though she was still in kitten stage at the time of this picture (the infamous toilet kitty photo), she looks pretty much the same, just bigger and less fluffy.

Anti
(http://www.darthnuriko.com/images/blog/antimarch62003.jpg)

Anti's the cat that's perpetually not ours.  He has FeLV and we keep him in a pen in the back, letting him out in the backyard and putting him away at night.  I can't bring myself to kill him, despite being advised to do so as he could infect other cats and I should "for his own health".   Since FeLV is passed primarily through saliva, poop, and blood, I clean his stuff regularly.  I don't see any other cats around and when I do, they come into contact with neither three.  He ended up at our new residence because his throat was cut open and I decided to have him fixed up, so now he stays with us.  He doesn't look like cat that's ready to die, so I refuse to let him when he looks and acts perfectly fine.  He's slender.  He used to be fluffy, now he's not.  That photo is from March of last year.  We met him when he appeared in our old neighborhood years ago.

Oh, and I believe anyone who wants a pet that isn't for show needs to go and adopt one.  I don't chastise Faye for wanting an expensive dog so much as I get after people who buy them off the side of the road.  ftw?  Go to the damn shelter and pick one out if you need to resort to something like that.  Why would you imagine that you're getting a quality animal for cheap out of someone's old Ford truck?  Those poor animals are mistreated, bred purely for profit and are thus interbred and many times have illnesses and defects.

And spay/neuter the damn things.  Bob Barker says you should.

And our cat count became eleven yesterday!   Was greeted at the office door with frantic cries to rescue a dumped kitten (is there any other kind anymore?) found wandering in the garage.  Coaxed her out of the bushes and took her home at lunch as security wouldn't let a cat in the building "for health reasons" (Of course, what greets me after I get the kitten situated in my car but a co-workers's snotgoblin dragging its saggy-diapered ass all over the carpet, but I digress).  She's about 10 weeks old, solid black except for white tufts inside her ears and a tiny white locket at her throat; long silky fur and amber eyes - gorgeous!  Waiting for the right name to hit me - I would have named a male "Erte'" after the Art Deco artist; may keep that anyway.   Gets a bath tonight, checkup and shots tomorrow before meeting everyone else.  :D

You could always have giant hissing roaches. One of my science teachers had them once, and they were mean and cool at the same time. Two of them started doing stuff together in that aquarium-thing he kept them in once, and he taped paper over it and said they needed their privacy.

Awe!  Sorry about your turtle dude.  I had four turtles 18 years ago their names were Toby, Tibbs, Turk, and Tiffany.  Never really knew the sex.  Tiffany had a brown shell and the others were green.  My dad found them.  Mom made us release them in the winter because they had to hibernate or something.  But I think they would have been okay with us.

Come on, someone say it.  I know you want to.  ............... No?  Okay, I will.

HOW DO YOU LOSE A HORSE?

There.  Don't give me that look, I know you wanted to.

And I don't know if I really want a turtle.  Those things can live a pretty long time.  I was thinking another short term relationship like another fish or a spider.

It's called a stable, Faye. How old was your horse? It may have carked it due to severe oldness.

Or it might've broken a leg, ending its figure skating career.

Yeah, I'm sorta afraid of a commitment that ginormous.  It is, however, the most tempting kind.

A pony is a small horse, not a baby horse. Are you saying it was a filly or a colt?

I had a turtle. Her name was Mikey (I learned later he was a she) and she was a georgian mudslider. She died from a fungal infection :( My sick mom keeps her shell somewhere.
Hey, wait a minute, did your mom, like carve Mikey out of there?

Maybe she used COSO4 (I think that's the formula for it) and just kind of shook out the leftover carbon.

My Dad is good, but he's getting this odd bulge at the top of his incision on his chest whenever he gets hot...I'm geting worried.

An odd analogy.  I'v eusually read Get Fuzzy in the paper when it's delivered to me, as opposed to procuring it from the Temple of Time.

Bulge?  Like big or something right up near the incision?  Bulges and stuff near incisions is sometimes normal.  I know it's not the same thing, but when Toki got spayed, she looked like she had half a cookie in her lower gut, but it was just swelling and internal stitches.

See, see, now it's part of the Pet Thread again.
