In May, I spent $120 (when I still had a job mind you) buying my mother a new stereo system for her birthday.
Three months later, the CD tray jammed and ate the CDs...So I took it into the warranty shop to have them fix it.
I still haven't seen the thing. And that was in July/August. I have no idea what happened to it or the CDs inside.
Who should I shoot first?
-
Yourself for being a goddamned pussy, and not being assertive.
-
This is a riddle, right? Like Napolean's white horse?
-
Or "WHEN WILL HE STOP?"
-
Well here I was hoping to open another one of D's insightful threads that was sure to lead to a very good discussion and debate....which as we all know D is known for, but instead am greeted by a thread full of complaining. That's just not like you D, not like you at all.
-
I like how he refers to her as "mother" multiple times... Kinda adds a "Norman Bates" image to the fucker.
-
I call mine Mom.
-
They probably expected someone to chell on it and later sold it as surplus.
In any case, you can go to the shop and talk to them about it instead of depending on them to do it right. Be sure to tell them you plan to shoot somebody if they don't deliver...that'll expedite matters.
-
It's clobberin time!
-
Well, if they're just waiting for me to call, I'm just stupid, although I'd think they would have the courtsy to call when the repair is done. If they're still working on it, someone needs to get some pain motivation.
Worst case, I'd have to buy yet another stereo for Mrs. Bates.
-
Sorry, D, but that isn't the way it works in the real world. Hell, if the shop is anything like the one where my dad used to work, since you didn't pick it up, someone's gone home with it by now.
-
Read the claim ticket. If there's a time limit for picking up your item that you're within and it's gone, you have a good case for a replacement stereo. If not, I'm afraid Bitch is right.
-
Yep.
-
Well, I found out that in the past 2 months, they have done nothing.
The CD player is non-serviceable, it's impossible for them to fix as it is in a black box that can't be opened. They recommended I send it back to the manufacturer for a replacement, but I bet they'll just blow me off with stupid Indian service reps.
-
Why didn't you do that in the first place?
-
Cause then he'd've had nothing to BITCH ABOUT for longer than FIVE EMINUTES.
-
...LMAO.
-
I made Tom laugh. I feel......exonerated.
-
Want a handjob for it?
-
Why didn't you do that in the first place?
I called the company's CUSTOMER SERVICE in the first place! They sent me to the REPAIR SHOP which did WARRANTY REPAIRS on their products. And since the REPAIR SHOP can't do the REPAIRS, and TOLD ME to CALL the company again, they'll probably just send me back to the REPAIR SHOP in a never ending cycle of STUPIDITY.
-
Your caps are retarded.
-
Next time do what tastes right.
-
Are you kidding? That's what almost landed him in jail.
-
Almost. Damn legal system...
-
I picked it up, they had done nothing to it. So now I have to call the manufacturer again and demand they replace it, before I kill them all for fucking around with me.
-
Damn right.....if they won't lock you up for one thing, try another crime!
Orange really is your color.
-
It's totally the latest fashion in prison.
-
I saw a kickass radio thingy @ Best Buy on Black Friday which had MP3 capabilities. ^_^
I am buying one when my tax money comes back.
-
Black Friday does not wait for tax returns.
-
Sales were weaker this black friday than thought.
Also, looks like alot of New Orleans people are pissed @ the gov now, since nothing's been done since Bush came down there.
Who'da thunkit?
-
Pissed because they couldn't buy swag this Friday?
-
A laptop for 300 bucks? I'd vote for Kerry over that.
-
After much twisting of arms and ears and legs, and sitting on a phone for 2 hours on hold with customer service with elevator music playing in the background, I have success. They are sending a brand new, more expensive stereo to the repair shop.
I think I'll wrap it and give it to my mother as a present.
-
score 1 for the little guy
-
How little.
-
My perspective is skewed.
-
How little.
Is that supposed to be a statement or question? I'll have you know I'm 5'11" and I think a little less than 6".
To think all the things I do for my mother. I buy her a stereo. I do home repairs around the house because she doesn't know the difference between a hammer and a screwdriver. I program the VCR because she doesn't know what button on the remote is the menu button. I put up christmas decorations. I do all the "man" things. I even shoveled 5 inches of snow today with no thanks.
Today she's been complaining about everything. Her income, even though she could get a much better job with her nursing degree, instead of cutting hair like she does now. The fact I have no job and still live with her, even though I'd be out of here like a straight guy in a fag bar if I had money. Because I left a light on in her bedroom. Because I didn't do a chore today. Because I tried to recycle a peanut butter jar when she wanted it tossed. Because she wanted something thrown away outside when I was in long johns and a tshirt.
I must be insane. <_<
-
Whiner.
-
Holy crap he's still talking. Hey D? For a christmas gift for the board? How about SHUTTING UP FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES?
-

Congratulations, you're doing what decent members of society do.
Only we don't whine about it

you just read my mind

God damn, what a train wreck we have here.

I didn't know they could stack shit that high.

Given that you're 24 years old and living with your mother, you should be doing stuff commensurate to your supposed manliness. While being thanked is nice, there's also an expectation there, an assumed responsibility to the household that you should feel a need to fulfill.
Here's where my ire hits redline. Firstly, it's her house and therefore her perogative to bitch and complain as she sees fit. And if she's happier cutting hair than being a nurse (which is one of the biggest pain-in-the-ass jobs one can have, between shitty scheduling/shifts, working among sick people, dealing with asshole patients, family members, doctors, etc.), who are you to say she should do differently? Sure, encourage her to do better if income means more to her than stress, but don't forget that you're the son. Just because you might have a pair of balls between your legs and a little age on you doesn't make you the fount of sage advice for her. Know your role!
And what's this shit about your not having a job with no money and living on mom after griping about all you do for her without thanks? The fact that you're allowed to bunk there should be more than enough thank yous. If not turning out the lights pisses her off, try to remember to do it...powet is cheap but not free. If there are things needing done, why haven't you done them? It's neither unreasonable nor indecipherable as to why she might be P.O.'ed here. Most men take out the fucking trash when it needs to be gone, just so you know. Come on, like Clara Peller (http://www.shwiggie.com/media/images/clara_peller.jpg) put it, where's the beef? Learn to deal with it.
I must be insane.
No, I'M insane for bothering to type any of this.
-
Yeah. I tuned out after the "to think all the things I do for my mother". Seriously. My brain knew and it cried and it said no more.
-
Holy crap he's still talking. Hey D? For a christmas gift for the board? How about SHUTTING UP FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES?
Seconded.
-
When you live in mom's house. You follow mom's rules. You put up with mom's crap.
Here is a way for you to get out though if you don't mind going into debt. Enroll in a couple of classes at your local university/community college (actually I don't know how it works with community college and this plan hinges on you being accepted into the university) and get financial aid. You should be able to get enough to move out and pay rent for the school year...then just keep acruing debt (until you have a degree) like I have until you owe nearly $50,000. Then join the national guard and go fight in a country for a cause you're not really sure about...we'll call it freedom! (but basically you'll be killing arabs to pay for school).

I forgot to mention that the national guard pays off that $50,000 (kind of a key point in the plan there).
-
Sounds like a plan.
-
And if you lose a leg or an arm the Guard will pay your disablity for the rest of your life and you'll be set.

Hey, I don't expect much from my mother, I just would like it if she said thank you occasionally. And a 'I love you' here and there. Is that too much to ask?
I went and picked up the new stereo. The damn thing's 500watts, MP3 ready, separate subwoofer, probably $200 MORE than the one I had. So I got a really good deal. I'm jealous, my mother's not even going to use this to it's full potential, and I might see about buying it off her. Well, as long as it doesn't eat any CDs like the last one.
-
Okay.
Since I'm worried this new system will eat my CDs, since it's the same brand as the last one, and it has the same CD player, I'm thinking of selling it. Selling it and buying a new one that's a different brand. But where can I sell the old one?
Ebay's out of the question unless I want to spend a lot on shipping.
-
Eat it. You can try eating it for sustenance.
-
Geez you should of thought about that before you bought it. You don't think things all they way through do you?
-

Thought about what? You're really going to have to explain this Merla, you're not making any sense as usual.
My mother's decided to keep the stereo. Hopefully, it won't break like the last one, or she can deal with it.
