Bah, I can't afford to get my teeth cleaned! My gums are sore, occasionally bleed, and are red in a few spots..
Yet I have no insurance, and the dental school around here has an initial examination fee of $65!
unless I can find a dental charity for poor people, my teeth might fall out. :(
-
Eh, same problem, get in line. I think I have a cavity already too since my last dentist did a shit-job on my sealants...
-
I brush multiple times a day.
-
i fucking hate people bitching as much as doug. i just had to paid 1000 bucks for a visit to the dentist. the cleaning was like fucking 300 bucks(cause it was Penn)
-
I only brush once a day, never had a cavity though.

Ass.
I brush multiple times a day, but I'm cursed with extremely soft teeth. My dentists are always assholes when I show up with a cavity and talk to me like I'm a retard about "proper dental care". I always get accused of eating too much candy and I hardly touch the stuff...
-
don't be hatin!
Also, I floss like once a month (if that) and the gum disease known as gingivitis does my bidding.
ok now you can hate.
-
I had me teef cleaned in May, and brush and listerine.
Thankfully my Dad has a sweet medical package, that gives me coverage 6 months after I graduate from college. Awesome.

that's not the only cause. Gingivitis can be caused by the genes too
-
Well, Faye, daddy paid for that, so kindly butt out of the conversation.
And Doug, welcome to the club. I've had an abscess that requires a root canal and crown for the past 2 years. Fortunatelly I'm finally insured and can get it taken care of.
-
f:slaps sam: ucker! you back-stabber, thats it no more pics for you!
-
I'm sorry if the truth hurts. As much as I'm annoyed by Doug's constant whining, he has grounds for this one. It fucking sucks to not be insured and not be able to get the dental care you need. We don't all have parents that are there to pay our way.
-
Yeah...and Doug will probably wind up going to some crappy dentist with rusty equipment, who will molest him while he's anesthetized and we'll never hear the end if it!
-
Mwhahahhahhahhaha!!!!! Oh you slay me!!!
-
I slay every guest.

I'm sorry if the tooth hurts?
Also, faye's post is funnier with the face in the wrong place.

That used to be me until about two, three years ago. Then all the cavities wanted to party all the time, party all the time, party all the time.... I guess old maidism invites them in.

Prices based on income (http://www.thehopeclinic.org/dental.html) Ypsilanti, Michigan
Dental plans (http://www.dentalplans.com/) for individuals by zip code. Also, a dentist may agree to do a cleaning for a lower rate if you pay cash, just because they won't have to go through the hassle of filing a claim and waiting for the insurance chell.
And to keep gums healthy, brush with salt every other day. No kidding. Not a lot; wet the brush and dip it in the salt. Use a soft brush and don't scrub hard. If that feels too weird, rinse with warm salt water after brushing - also good for canker sores. :D
-
Not to mention sore throats, if you gargle it.
-
Why salt? What does it do? And would I be out of line in adding pepper?
-
Because, everything, and no...

When gums are swollen/bleeding, decreasing the bacteria and the fluid the little bastards need to live helps. Salt is a drying agent and has an antiseptic effect as well, plus the mild abrasive gets the fluid worked out of the infected tissue, but a little goes a long way, like 30 seconds of gentle brushing. You're not stripping paint. DS is right about the sore throats for the same reason. :)
Pepper may not be best in this instance, but I've heard cayenne stops cuts from bleeding.
-
Very interesting.
You heard her, git in mah mouth, biatch!

I already knew about Hope since I volunteered for them a while ago. However, they're booked for a while. There's also a clinic that does discount checkups for $20 or so, but I have to wait for a while to be able to do it.

Well, the gengevitis has receeded, I took Bernie's advice, and I also bought some of that new Crest mouthwash that seems to be working well.
-
Good! You can probably cut the salt back to 3 times a week at this point.
I love it when cheapass remedies work. Appeals to my stereotypical Scottish side.
-
Vicks vapor rub has lots of uses as well.
-
I love you, IDE. Let's elope.

Huh? Did I miss something here?

Yeah, you can probably put that shit in a bullet wound and be back in the pink the next morning.

Bernie already covered it, but think of this: what happens to grass when you pour a box of salt on it? Now apply that to a microscopic level.
-
It gives grass that extra kick it needs?
BAM!
