Grandpa's in the hospital again. He's having breathing problems, he had/has bronchitis, and his Dementia is worse than ever. He didn't recognize me.
I know it's not his fault. I know that Dimentia means he's losing his memories and such, but it still hurts all the same.

You need a hug?
-
...I think so.
-
*Internet hug*
It's the best I can do - But I'm here at least if you need anything.

Same thing happened when my Grandma died. By the time she finally passed away she didn't know who any of us where and had not spoken a single word in over 6 months. We don't know if she couldn't speak, or she just forgot how. But as morbid as this sounds the fact that she was so far gone kinda helped, because you start to not really see them as the person you knew. You accept that person is dead and gone over time, and they are replaced with an almost stranger that looks like there person you loved. So when they do pass over, you've already made your peace with it and it's not such a crushing blow. It's still heartbreaking no doubt, but it's not as bad as it could be, or at least that's how it was for me.

So, so true for me as well. My mom was ill for quite a while, and her death was almost a relief because she was in such agony. My dad was sitting up in his hospital bed talking on a Wednesday and dead that Sunday. It took me a very long time to get over his passing.
It's not easy either was, Emmy. *hugs*

Considering I'm not close at all to my grandparents I have no good death/coping advice. You can have a net hug from me too, but jus' saying...
-
It's never easy, regardless of the circumstances. Just keep hanging in there.
Life treats us all differently, but death treats all the same. At least it's fair about it.

Good luck E.
.....I just noticed Phage's avatar is of an anthromorphic wolf..........
........
Yep.
-
I don't think he wants to join your furry sex-orgy but you should at least offer to be polite.

Yep.
Coyote, actually.

They've checked him into a nursing home. Grandma can't really take care of him now that Sundowner's is taking hold.
The Prognosis is a few weeks to a month. I'm not suprised.

I'm not the one who has what looks like a furry for an avatar.
-
What does that have to do w/ anything? You've all but said outright you're a furry.
E, how far is the Nursing home from Grandma?
-
I dunno, we're going down tonight to visit him in the Nursing home.
-
I wish your family the best, E.
Since it seems that his demise is in fact only a matter of time, the best thing I can think of to say - is I hope he goes out content, and peacefully.
-
I visited him tonight, and It's really sad. Before the stroke some 8 years back he was active..and now he's withered down to this. Now all I can think is "this is so wrong...Where's the dignity?" and..."Will that be my Dad in forty years?"
Though I've made my peace with it, with the fact my grandfather will not be around for 2006 or beyond, It still sucks.
