It's now a Cat 4 and heading for Cancun I think. But earlier it was cat 5, had 180mph winds, and the lowest pressure of any hurricane ever (882mb).
And it may hit Florida next, or it will tell the weathermen to fuck off and go another direction, like at New Orleans again, or Texas.
I'm going to start digging a bunker now.
-
Well, Wilbur (Was that it?) in 1925 had 888MB!
Anyway, my mother's going to Florida on Saturday.
She's going to die.
-
Holy Fuck. When did America become the Hurricane Bitch of the world?
-
Four more years. -.-
-
I don't think BUSH is responsible for Mother Nature tossing hurricanes around.
-
Oh no! Now we are going to have shortage of illegal Cuban boys! Will the maddness ever end?
-
I don't think BUSH is responsible for Mother Nature tossing hurricanes around.
Like you know Mother Nature's political affiliation.

We're pretty safe after October 15. The cold fronts start coming in and the pressure steers storms away, plus the cooler water doesn't feed them. You could practically boil eggs in the Gulf in August/September, which made Katrina & Rita such bitches.
Highs are now in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s at night, and should stay this way until we have our "cold" days of about 60s & 40s in January, then back to the former until early May. This is the time of year when I love where we live. :D
-
You know I was thinking that if I ever made it big with my writing and money wasn't an issue anymore, I think I'd like to live in Texas.
Not as close to the coast as Houston, but someplace southern devoid of natural disasters that have very mild winters. I'l tired shitty as cold weather.....don't mind the snow, but I hate the cold.
-

I hear you. If only it didn't come with holidays attached. Can't have everything I guess....
And why does D need a bunker? Aren't you in Michigan? Rita's not gonna jump in the Great Lakes. Your worries are more the variety of snow, air pollution, and prison.

And now we know...And knowing is half theb battle!
BEERNNIIEE-JOOOOEE!
-
I'd never move to Texas... half the morons in the world (Bush, DeLay) are from Texas.
-
Plus they have the death penalty for child molestors
-
And they don't like darkskinned foriegners who speak gibberish.
-
nor guys who don't get ass
-
So I am welcome in Texas? Eh, I still wouldn't go. I don't like the heat.
-
nope, you are not welcome anywhere
-
Except your bedroom. It's always open to visitors. Flash Photography is always allowed.
-
Whooo, it's coming right to me.
Fuck yeah.
-
Are one of you going to go into Pon Farr soon? I'd love to see a good fight to the death.

nor pets nor toms are allowed there

IIRC, Faye, you're not too fond of cold weather - how'd you end up going to school in Philly?
October-December and March-May are the best months for Texas. January & February tend to be a little Seattle-ish, but right now it's about 62 F, cloudless sky & gorgeous. I won a portable DVD player last week at our employee appreciation party (just a Nexxtech, but hey, it was free) so I tried it out in the hammock yesterday instead of doing anything vaguely productive. B)
-
Bah it's like 36 degrees here right now! And January and Feb fuck you're luck if you're not shoveling snow, and if your not you are frezzeing your nuts off in 14 degree weather. What sucks is just 4 hours to the south in LIttle Rock where my Cousin lives, it like never snows. We are right where the hot winds off of the Gulf of Mexico and the cold winds off Canada hit each other. So it produces some werid weather. Like Monday last weak it was 89 degrees, today it's the aforementioned 36.

i didnt know it was gonna be this cold:'(
-
I think those where Shackleton's last words.
-
The fact that it snows there didn't tip you off?
-
well before i came here, i had never been in a place where there is snow before. thanks god peru is a tropical country. i knew it was cold but not THIS cold
-
I love snow. I haven't seen snow in years.
-
Nuri & I saw it last Christmas eve. :)
And will probably never see such again here. :(
-
cCome to Wichita starting in late November. We've gotten snow almost constantly the last couple years.
-
So did Tom blow into the Atlantic?
-
We could only be so lucky.
-

What? That moon dandruff...?
-
You sure it wasn't just someone cleaning out their Icebox, with the window open, near a fan?
-
Hey, any port in a storm. Or non-storm, as it may be.
And thank you, Rama. I'm glad somebody else says icebox. :P
-
Actually I say Frige and Frezzer....I was going for that "Old Timey" flare with Icebox.. LOL!
-
*digs out Brian Setzer Orchestra CD and Geritol* :P
-
So did Tom blow into the Atlantic?
I sure can blow, Sammy-kins... ;)
Actually I've had powet the entire time, just no net. And no school for a week? This was like a post apocalyptic spring break! The destruction, lines for gas and water... well I stocked up like a good little ant.
^^
JE SUIS ALIVE!
-
no school for a WEEEK?? daaaaamn
-
Im skipping tomorrow too. Fuck the University. I'm going downtown with Kary in costume, and partying all night long. WHOO!
*loves Halloween*
-
Septa is on strike now! so that means theres no need to go to classes tomorrow, woooo!! what a good excuse to not go!(even though i live at the university)
-
The destruction, lines for gas and water... well I stocked up like a good little ant.
Good for you! I couldn't believe there were people in lines screeching for water in Florida two days later, and they weren't poor-looking people, nor had they lost their homes. If Rita had been bad, the five of us at my brother's house theoretically could have been well-fed, hydrated and clean for at least two weeks. Everybody repeat: "The government probably won't take care of me...." <_<

Night before it struck, me and Kary hit the gas station and the supermarket. Both places had no one there, and loads of stuff. Day after, it looked like Al Queda nuked Jacksonville. Today, no lines to anything, curfew's midnight but shitty ass publix is still closing @ 6pm. GAY!
