"If you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose -- you could abort every black baby in this country and your crime rate would go down. That would be an impossibly ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down."
Insensitive? Yes. It's a horrible thing to say...so horrible, in fact, that he even pointed out that very thing. Is he right? Sadly, yes. Check the statistics if you don't believe it. But nowhere did he suggest doing it.

Bennett was making a quick analogy off the cuff in order to make his point, which had nothing to do with race and how it relates to crime. He was illustrating how addressing a problem (in the analogy, criminal activity) the wrong way (reducing the numbers of a discrete group with a high rate of contribution) might get the desired results (reduction in crime) but is not the right way to do it (nobody with sense thinks this is a good idea).
As for your killing the Jews to make Hollywood better argument, are Jews more prone to make shitty movies than Gentile film makers? If this is true, then, yes, killing them off would do so. However, bear in mind that you say that exactly the same way Bennett did: to make a point by confronting perceived absurdity (perceived because, regardless of how you take it, I'm still right) with further absurdity.

I understand that he said statistically, blacks commit more crimes than whites so if we were to abort pregnant black women, we'd have less crime, and that he tried to cover his ass by saying that he was speaking hypothetically and he'd never really suggest doing that. It was still a stupid ass thing to say.
I can summerize it like this: "Blacks commit more crimes than whites. Let's keep blacks from breeding and make the world a safer place. BTW I'm not racist, I'm just being hypothetical."
Had he suggested improving the quality of living for blacks or their education, it wouldn't have been so bad. Suggesting baby killing (especially to other Republicans who are mostly pro-life) is a retarded thing to do. He's going to have to live with that comment for the rest of his life now.
