Well, I was just informed, a little bit late ('little bit' meaning aboiut 10 months), that my health insurance coverage was dropped. According to them, when I was working I was making too much money.
Let's see, at an average of about 25 hours a week (it varied a lot), 52 weeks a year, that's 1300 hours a year, and at a horrendously huge salary of $7 an hour....
$9100 a year. But I think, after taxes and stuff, it was much less, more like 6k.
So, how exactly am I making "too much money" if I'm below the poverty level?
Right now, universal healthcare is looking a lot better....
The only good thing is, now that I'm unemployed, I'm probably not making "too much" anymore! :lol:

It's not the insurance company's fault you aren't working. It IS their fault that they're so insanely high (not to mention the medical establishment itself and the judicial system), but still. Just hit an emergency room and use a pseudonym if you have to...that's what we pay taxes for, right?

You don't have to be an idiot to be dragged into court and be accused of something, people are suspects all the time, and innocent people are convicted quite frequently. Look at what happened to lots of black people before MLK. I could also give two local examples of people who were recently cleared of all charges. You people just assume that if I'm being charged I must be guilty.
When I said I'm not trying to defend myself, I meant in here (well, until now that is). Why should I defend myself in here? I don't even know why I am now. As for the court, yes I am defending myself in there, why else would I pay almost 20k for an attorney?

I believe in the innocent until proven guilty concept. If anyone here were to say that he/she wase unjustly accused of a crime and innocent, I would believe that unless irrefutable evidence proved otherwise.
If D did what he was accused of, such is wrong according to the letter of the law. I have no argument with that. The situation never made much of a blip on my radar because my girlfriend was molested on a regular (2-3 times a month) by her stepbrother from the time she was 5 & he was 11 until she was 12 & he was 18; i.e., able to get into trouble. She told her mother, but was ordered TO KEEP QUIET as not to cause problems in the marriage. Besides, according to mom who had been molested herself by a relative when young, it was something that happened to most girls and was really no big deal.
This was not made up - I went with them to therapy sessions. I dug pills out of her mouth & took single-edge razor blades out of her hands from the time she was 14 to 20 when she was put on lithium.
I respect the law and everyone's personal opinions about the subject, but I'm not going to dignify or lessen the magnitude of what that sack of shit did to my girlfriend by putting her ordeal in the same category as D's alleged panty raid.

My insurance is $4000 a year! Luckly the company I work for pays for it so it is not out of my own pocket. It really sucks for the part-time people because they only get half of their premium paid for. They are responsible for the other half. My co-pay is $25 and my specialist co-pay $30. I believe $25 is also my pharmacy co-pay with a $50 deductiable. I only go to the doctor twice a year. Once for my annual well-woman exam and again in the year because I usually get sick or have some injury. My insurance does not include dental or vision. I have a discount plan for the dental but no vision.

Considering all my years in the insurance industry, I find it amusing that the best & cheapest coverage was my ex's insusance through Kinko's. I'm on Eddie's now that we're legally hitched, and it's about $60 a month less than if we were both on mine. There's some saying about the shoemaker's kids going barefoot that could apply here. :P

As of November 22, 2005. We went to JP Dale Gorzynski who is usually the judge on Animal Cops: Houston, drove to Galveston and called everyone while having lunch harborside. Didn't tell anyone beforehand. :D Not like it was a big surprise after 9 years, but we didn't want all the stress of a formal wedding.

For anyone who needs dental work & wants insurance, there's usually a waiting period of up to ONE YEAR for some major procedures - beware. If there's a dental school nearby, call them - most offer reduced rates for work, and they're supervised by experienced dentists - it's not a crazed student going apeshit with the drill. :blink:
